  • - Den of Bigfoot
    av Jeff England
    255,-

A Monstrous, Mystical Thriller. In the fog enshrouded, mysterious Grey Canyon, loggers Jason Ibsen and Sam Kloss fall the wrong tree and unleash a primordial violence into the Oregon wilderness. Amongst the floored redwood tangle an object about five feet long and three across lay entwined. It was fresh fir branches, but somehow crisscrossed and tightly interwoven. Jason reached to touch it and both men jumped back when it moved slightly. He picked up a stick and lifted one edge. "Oh hell," Sam said, "it's a baby bear. I told you something was up there." It was small, black furred, face down and barely breathing. Jason put the stick under one side and lifted it toward him. "Oh God, Jason! Not a bear!" They looked down at a face. A dark face with open eyes and blood seeping from its nose and mouth... Join with Michael, a man seeking to spark his restless spirit by camping the woods and visiting old friends, and ride with Nicole and Ian, college sweethearts on a mission to save the trees in their beloved forest. They will encounter the mythic, giant man-beast of the deep woods, finding themselves in a primitive, terrifying battle for survival.

After escaping from a Mexican prison, Diego Medina, a former member of the violent Los Zetas cartel, along with several members of his gang cross the border into Texas. Robbing several homes and pawn shops, they begin to acquire the weapons needed to commence a series of armed attacks on armored cars. After pulling off four such attacks, including two brutal and violent attacks in New Mexico and North Carolina, Diego's men try to locate Paul Waring at his home in South Carolina. Years earlier, during a narcotics takedown that Paul had been in charge off, members of Medina's crew were apprehended while delivering a truckload of heroin and cocaine in Fairfield, Connecticut. One of those members caught in Paul's trap was Medina's brother. In a failed attempt to free his brother, several gang members were shot and killed; among them was Diego's brother. Filled with years of hate, and wanting revenge against Paul for his brother's death, Medina's plan is to kill Paul and Donna Waring. But while the attacks on the armored cars go well, and while Diego is soon surrounded by a significant amount of wealth, another part of his plan goes horribly wrong as three members of his gang are either shot and killed, or captured, during another violent attack. Among those who are killed is another one of Medina's brothers, and one of his most vicious killers. After paying one of his cousins a large sum of money to find out where Paul Waring is, Diego and his crew, including a violent killer he has hired, head to Connecticut to locate the retired state trooper. Days later, in Southbury, Connecticut, another of Diego's cousins stumbles across Paul, Donna, and Paul's mother at a small family-run restaurant. As Diego and his crew race to Southbury to fulfill his plan of killing Paul, they also have plans of knocking off another armored car in the small rural town. What they do not know is that Paul has plans of his own. But what do Paul's plans involve and how can he

  • - Chen Tuan's Sleeping Gong
    av Tom Bisio
    309,-

A Genuine Initiation into Daoist Meditation ¿¿¿¿ Daoist Sleeping Meditation: Chen Tuan's Sleeping Gong provides a unique window into the world of Daoist Mediation. Sleeping Meditation was purportedly passed down by Chen Tuan, a 10th century Daoist adept dubbed "The Sleeping Immortal." Daoist Sleeping Meditation deftly guides the reader through the maze of symbols, metaphors and rituals that conceal the simple truths underlying Daoist meditation and Inner Alchemy practices. Sleeping Meditation allows us to reach a state similar to that of animals in hibernation. The body seems to be asleep, but is internally aware. This state of "genuine sleep" produces "true rest" untroubled by dreams which reflect and engage with our emotions and desires. The result is increased clarity of mind and energy. It has been said that one hour of Sleeping Meditation is as restful as 8 hours of normal sleep. The basic practice method of Sleeping Meditation is clearly presented by author Tom Bisio. Also included are famous Chinese poems associated with the "Twelve Sleeping Immortals", which provide further instruction on Sleeping Meditation, by delineating the crucial stages of meditative practice. Bisio's detailed explanations of each poem - including symbology, hidden meanings, and associations, and references to other Daoist texts like the Dao De Jing - are an initiation into secretive Daoist practices that were deliberately hidden in plan sight. The original text on Sleeping Meditation, translated by Tom Bisio and Huang Guo Qi, comes from the Ming Dynasty book, Chi Feng Sui (Marrow of the Red Phoenix). The author's extensive commentary and annotation clearly explain the foundational principles of Daoist Sleeping Meditation that are only hinted at in the text itself. Summaries of the key points accompany and flesh out the original text.Daoist Sleeping Meditation also includes a section on Sleeping Meditation for the treatment of medical conditions, su

  • av Margaret St Claire
    295,-

Margaret's remarkable forebears-including a peasant, an Indian, a slave, and a king-came from Europe, Africa and the wilds of Maine. The captivating tales in this debut novel are based loosely on Margaret's family and cover seven generations over 150 years. There is the Jewish girl who chooses to become a Gentile; the Massachusetts man who marries the Indian from Maine; the child of the slave and her master; the man from the prairie who gets a PhD from Harvard at age 26; the Abolitionist who goes to jail for sheltering the runaway; the descendants of the indentured servant who just never have any luck; the woman who comes alone in steerage with her two-year old; the woman who goes mad on the stark prairie; the model who marries the spy. Then Margaret tells her own story of a rather lonely childhood that culminates with her exciting 9th grade year in Rome followed quickly by her mother's cancer, her marriage at 19, and three beloved children who struggle with her as she and the marriage disintegrate. She comes out of a long breakdown at last, strong like her "sod-hut grandmother" and ready to meet her soul mate. Margaret St. Claire, writing under a pen name, presents a unique story that is semi-fictional social history with behaviors reaching over seven generations. Starting with great-great grandparents from remote places and ending with her own mosaic splendidly intact, Margaret's saga is fascinating and eminently readable.

Has the world lost its sense of humor? Let's hope not for inside this little book of poetry are niggles focused on people, places and things. Of course, some things are to be considered seriously, such as the poem warning of the perils which might occur from NOT drinking coffee. But mainly the poems are to be taken with a wink and a slight elbow jab to the ribs. Please remember this is a book of fiction-and these are not shots aimed at any particular person. As that great seer, Edgar Cayce said, "It's as much a sin to take offence as it is to give offence." All things considered, it's simply the author's fevered imagination running amuck.

Suddenly things are falling apart in Matthew Goldsmith's life. He's an up-and-coming young architect, with a wife he loves and a business partner who's also his best friend. But too many nights, lately, Matthew walks his neighborhood, unable to sleep-and with no idea that he's observed by George Hooper, an elderly amateur scientist whose loneliness and unfettered curiosity will lead him far outside the ethical bounds. One night when Matthew returns home he hears a noise in the attic crawl space that lies beside his bedroom. Somehow his wife, asleep beside him, doesn't hear it-then or later. George Hooper has begun an experiment that will upend several lives in addition to Matthew's, and cause him and those around him to question his sanity-all while driving him inexorably toward the tormentor who yearns for his companionship. Who--or what-George Hooper is lies at the heart of this story of love, loss, and obsession.Hypnotic, inventive, and original, The Nature of Things is a compelling examination of the fever dream that descends when reality collides with imagination and memory.

The history of a tiny plot of ground on which the renowned St. Jude Children's Research Hospital exists holds a truly remarkable story of suffering, happiness and intrigue. Since Hernando de Soto arrived there in 1541 AD and claimed the area in the name of Spain and the Catholic Church, events have occurred within this half mile that lead us to refer to it as "hallowed ground". The crowning glory came from afar in recent years when the son of Lebanese immigrants in Detroit, Danny Thomas, prayed to St. Jude Thaddeus for direction in his life and promised to build a shrine to the Saint. Why he chose to build his shrine as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and why he placed it on our hallowed half mile in Memphis will enhance the faith of the most hardened heart.

The U.S. Constitution has been abandoned, resulting in confusing/complicated federal government activity. The difficulty started through misinterpretation of the written document. For the most part, aggressively liberal-thinking people have ignored the Constitution and its intent - thrusting the now unlimited federal government nose into societal issues it has no authority (according to the Constitution) to address. This has resulted in: a massive, out of control executive branch; out of control spending now incurring unimaginable debt; uncontrolled legislative branch personnel making inappropriate decisions (laws); a federal judicial system which doesn't seem to meet the needs of enforcing the Constitution; a circus called the presidential election. This situation with no rules to federal government action combined with ignorant/biased people supposedly in control is leading the U.S. into an abyss of a third-world style society. There is a way out. But it will be rough, painful. It starts with reading the document without "putting words in its mouth". Eliminating the misinterpretations will result in a vastly different, limited government - for instance, cutting the executive cabinet in half by eliminating what the author calls "non-Constitutional" cabinet departments. Other fixes to the troubling current situation include: procedural changes to confirming constitutionality of proposed congressional law, term limits for congressional members, elimination of the federal income tax, assumption of the states for local/personal needs per the tenth amendment. This book addresses "holes" in the wording which have been exploited by unscrupulous people with agendas not covered by "the rules" formulated in The Constitution. Runaway, unlimited, inappropriate federal government activity is killing the U.S. These controversial, painful, yet necessary fixes are needed

    av William L Milhaupt
    275,-

During World War II, people grew up fast. Reginald Bowers, just 32 years old, but already a captain of a U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet submarine. Billy Cork, facing an uncertain justice system in Depression-era Wisconsin, only to be magically transformed into a battle-hardened leader of men in the tough First Marine Division. Unassuming Randy Westerholt, the 353rd Fighter Group ace, whose Vietnam Vet son would return to England half a century later and find a side to his late father he would never have imagined. Navy Lieutenant (j.g.) Jack Tarrant, son of a crusty Army general, abused as a young boy, who would grow up to fly his bomber into history in a game-changing naval battle, and Ralph Vitek, who would wage his own private war in the middle of the worst winter in Europe in 44 years ¿ and in so doing, accomplish his mission in ways he never could've dreamed. They're stories of ordinary Americans, thrust by fate into an extraordinary time in our nation's history. Like all who lived through that tumultuous epoch, they clung to their quiet hopes, bore their own personal burdens and prayed for better times. But even as they yearned for a peace they could only dream about, they quietly prepared for battle… because their country was that important to them. Turn the page and get to know them. You'll be ever so glad you did.

Kenny Young has been retired as an aerospace scientist for ten years. Since then he has been haunted by mysterious dreams that resemble scenes from a spacecraft, with characters some of whom Kenny has realized are aliens. Kenny suspects the aliens in his dreams are connected to the flying saucer he witnessed as a boy, in 1956, and a young man in 1963, when slight, big-headed, cloudy-personas stared back at him beneath their hovering, saucer-like spacecraft. Kenny believes the mysterious images in his dreams stem from these two events that occurred decades ago. He and his wife Linda travel cross country to the high desert of the northern Great Basin to find out. In Juniper, long-time citizen Virl Saeger experiences the same thing as Young, although his nightmares began years ago, in the early 1960s. Saeger suspects his dreams are connected to the same 1956 alien spacecraft landing witnessed by both him and Young. His quest to interpret his mysterious dreams parallels that of Kenny Young, only decades apart. The two men's quests take the reader between the 1960s of Virl's time, to Kenny Young's present day Juniper. The dual-era aspect underlines the significant differences between the conditions and citizens of small town America in the 1950s and '60s versus life in the same small town today. Significant in the story is a small group of Juniper residents with peculiar mental and physical traits that make them unique. Called 'Amerans,' these people settled near Juniper in the 1870s, led by the Jame family, still ranching and raising cattle there all these years, and the Sol family. Kenny Young's boyhood schoolmate, Dred Sol, now working for an international consulting service, meets Kenny Young in 2016 Juniper to help him solve the mysteries of his past and his dreams. As Young and Saeger struggle to interpret their dreams, the story introduces several other key characters from both 2016 and 1963, whose trials and achievements bring the town of Juniper to life: Dred Sol, the Ameran operator whose long career in espionage and subterfuge qualifies him to provide unique help to Young's quandary; Mike Berg, owner and publisher of the Juniper Banner and his daughter Amanda, who battle to preserve the integrity of the news and freedom of speech in a changing journalistic universe; teacher Nicole Hanks and administrator Jennifer Murchison, gay lovers whose modern political and social views engage Berg and his paper in ideological battle; Shawn Starr, Hanks' half-brother she hires to find dirt on Berg; Justin Miller, local drug dealer and low-life who makes his living infecting high school kids and millennials with methamphetamine; Tyler Kelley, twenty-two year old would-be law student and half-brother of prominent local attorney Jason Kelley, who hires him for summer help at his law firm; twelve-year-old Aidan Volpe, a product of present-day 'self-esteem' educational systems; and the Jame family, Ameran ranchers who assist Young and Saeger from behind the scenes to uncover the mysteries of their past.

Everyone grieves differently. This is as it should be, but grieving is so intense that people often feel isolated and alone. Bluebirds on the Roof shows how we can support those who grieve and provide them with understanding and compassion. We don't know how to cope with the devastation of losing a loved one. Nobody does. So how do we deal with the impossible event that has changed our lives forever? This book is designed to be read one page at a time. When you are crying and lack the ability to concentrate, it can be difficult to read more than a few paragraphs in one sitting. Becoming a member of the "Club," learning to breathe, and realizing that there are others out there who truly care, are topics discussed that only those who are emotionally distraught may understand. The immense frustration of dealing with those who don't really comprehend your grief, religious contradictions, and feelings of despair are detailed.Honest stories of loss shared by others are incorporated into the book to show how the randomness of life and religious beliefs can seem to be in conflict with one another. These contradictions produce feelings that often overwhelm a person. Unbelievable, but not unusual. The frustration produced by this realization can be debilitating. The book's challenge is to offer ways to come back from all of this. Some of these personal stories are fairly graphic and intense. All are true. In some cases exact details are omitted to protect the people who shared these experiences for the book. Unfortunately, the author has extensive personal experience in being devastated by the loss of loved ones. His own story is included as an example of the challenges we must all face in order to understand what is important in life. The point is made that everyone has a different experience, copes differently, and must find a personal path forward. There is no loss that is "tougher" or more "special" than another. The circumstances of death do not matter. Grief has no rating system. Finally, there are a variety of strategies offered for people to begin to cope with the loss of a loved one. The choices abound, but the point is that people in mourning have to change with their new lives somehow, some way. The power to try is the power to succeed. Every attempt to try something new is a success. There are no failures. It is a habit that ultimately leads to a positive change in one's life!Bluebirds on the Roof reflects a personal transformation for a positive outcome from a tragic experience. There is something positive that can come from grieving - and we must all be motivated to search for it. The key to surviving in a positive way when one's life has changed is to change with it.
