  • - Rubin Hurricane Carter, Fred W. Hogan, John Artis and The Wrongful Conviction Movement
av Jeff Beach & Fred W Hogan
    265,-

Rubin Carter and John Artis Had Been Knocked Down... But what prosecutors who built a highly questionable case against the famous middleweight boxer and his teenage acquaintance in the 1966 Lafayette Bar and Grille triple murders in Paterson, New Jersey, did not count on was a young investigator from the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender who was willing to devote his free time, talent and energies to picking apart the case built on "eyewitnesses" who likely saw nothing they had claimed to see and racial prejudice against two African-American defendants. As Fred W. Hogan tracked down the "eyewitnesses" and got them to admit their statements to police were lies, the world began to pay attention to the case, with Bob Dylan writing a famous song about "The Hurricane" and boxing luminaries like Muhammad Ali, "Sugar Ray" Robinson and others holding fund-raisers and speaking out against the injustice done to Carter and Artis. Ultimately, they would be freed, and Carter, Artis and Hogan would make exposing other wrongful convictions a life's work and passion.

  • - Bk 1 the AI Chronicles
    av Gary Timbrell
    275,-

In the near future, mankind has made amazing advances in technology and science. The human race has always had an insatiable appetite for knowledge and an inherent need to explore space. In an attempt to justify mans existence, we search for extraterrestrial life, and out of pure need, we search for new forms of energy. Earth is running out of natural resources, such as fuels and arable land to grow food to support the ever growing population. A population that with the strides made in medicine, now has a life expectancy of over 100 years. The sheer amount of time it takes to reach deep space traveling at only half the speed of light, made it necessary to build robotic machines to send on one way trips, some of which could take ten years to reach their destination. Eventually, the simple robotic units evolved into humanoid forms. It was noted that feet and hands could reach places that a wheeled vehicle couldn''t. When artificial intelligence became advanced enough and introduced to the robots, they eventually became self-aware. People then began questioning the ethics and morality of sending, what some now considered sentient beings, on one way trips. Facing such a dilemma, Abbey Skyler decides to take matters into her own hands, her actions create a whirlwind of problems that quickly spin out of control. Now the question is; Can Abbey with the help of her team, regain control of the AIs and complete what started out as a routine mission. A mission that has become crucial to humanities very existence.

  • - The One Recipe Solution to Accommodate Everyone
    av Lucie Cote Contente
    305,-

What makes this book different from other gluten free books is that the recipes are written for everyone-people with and without gluten issues. Delicious meals made the original way and it incorporates a new cooking technique for people with food allergies. Creating one recipe for the whole family with one little tweak called the "root recipe". If you have a food allergy, imagine the main part of the recipe is like a tree trunk - the part everyone can eat, separate the main mixture into 2 bowls and add the "root ingredients" - the gluten free/non gluten free ingredient to complete the recipes. The best part is that the gluten-free person gets to eat exactly what the non gluten-free people eat. If you enjoy delicious food, this book is for you. If you are on a food allergy journey, this book is for you. If your family is food diversified, this book is for you.

The nine Myrmidon stories here are of young men drafted into military Service and assigned to an infantry company, in a combat zone, and once there to fight to the death if need be. They are glimpses of little people trapped in a huge conflagration; moreover, they are descriptions of the kinds of things that can and do go wrong in war, any war but especially one in which the troops are given no clear reason as to why they are to kill or be killed. While there were many stories of true heroism that came out of the war in Vietnam, those examples of self-sacrifice are, in a way, clouded, by an overall sense that none of it should ever have been allowed to happen. If there was any "Glory" to be had there it was on the side of the Vietnamese people in defense of their homeland. They were written not because I'm a glass-half-full type but, rather, as a kind of pray, a cry, a hope that this kind of thing - our nation's propensity for wildly and recklessly careening around the world, guns blazing - may never happen again. They are intended as a warning to anyone entering military service to be made aware that, when it comes to war, there is no such thing as a neat "surgical strike" or a "cake walk." It's a ragged, messy, bloody affair where, even with the best of intentions, everyone suffers, especially the "little people".

Perusing all the traditional life goals of modern Western culture¿education, family, church, career, and fun¿nothing could prepare this author for what was to come. For the past ten years or so, I have experienced mystical and spiritual phenomena. With no understanding of what was happening, the quest for Truth became my only mission. As I was driving home from a David Hawkins study group, I was having trouble determining what was real and what were "transparencies," as I called them. If you have ever seen auras, I would describe these transparencies as something similar. However, these auras surrounded various objects, although some were not associated with any objects or form at all. I wasn't aware of it at the time because everything was real to me, or at least appeared to be real. I was pretty confident that I was on the right road and headed in the right direction but my sense of space and location seemed to be in another dimension. I had been seeing these transparencies for about a year, mostly in the morning while driving to work. They would usually fade away when I looked directly at them. On this night, they were not fading away. I made a left turn onto what I thought was the road to go home. I drove straight ahead and saw a pair of headlights in the immediate distance pointing directly at me. I realized I had turned down the left side of a divided highway and was driving head on into oncoming traffic! I immediately pulled a U-turn and was able to right myself onto the correct side of the road, but I had no idea where home was. I knew I was in the area, but the ability to rely on my sense of location, logic, and linear thought was impossible. Time, space, and location, which are linear, were not accessible to my nonlinear state of thought. I had never heard of kundalini, chakras, etheric brain, no mind, or duality, and I had little understanding of Eastern religion/philosophy, such as Hinduism, Sufism, or Buddhism. I had never heard of the Vedas,

  • - The Last World Cruise of the Yankee Trader
    av Robert D Easton
    359,-

This book is a narration, written by the author, about a 31,000 nautical mile circumnavigation of the globe by the ship, Yankee Trader. In the early days of February 1979. I embarked on this voyage joined by approximately 75 other passengers, plus about 20 crew members. During this 300 day adventure, the Trader visited 61 ports and sailed the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans as well as the Caribbean sea. Yankee Trader, on this, its last trip, also crossed the Equator four times, the International dateline, and the Greenwich meridian once each. This was largely an island hopping voyage, enjoyed by many in the group who were engaged in the exploration, fishing, scuba and skin diving, meeting Islanders, savoring other cultures, and sailing into many beautiful sunsets. "Avast, me hearties, let us splice the mainbrace, raise our glasses high and shout hurrah for the everlasting majesty and glory of the tall ships." - Robert D. Easton, author

Do you want to stay in a good relationship with God? If so, whatever is important to the heart of God should be important to you as well. In this book you will discover some very important principles concerning you, God, and the men and women of God who are called by Him into the Five-fold ministry to do His Work. Hate what God hates and Love what God loves. That's why you should be obedient to Hebrews: 13:17-Obey them that have the rule over you and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you, when you do as Hebrews13:17 says. Look at what God says will happen in the book of Isaiah: 1:19-If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land. No matter who you are, I believe everyone wants the good and not the Bad. Therefore, honor what God honors, and God will honor you.

  • - A Daily Journey in Practical Intimacy
    av Susan Roland
    299,-

This day-to-day devotional came to life through Susan Roland''s daily "Celestial Walks." During many of her most challenging years as a missionary, she would read Scripture and pray as she walked her Great Dane, Celeste. While Celeste would keep her eyes on the tree tops, always alert for squirrels, Susan attempted to keep her eyes on the heavenly things above. Fortunately for us, Susan kept track of many of "God''s whispers" during these often difficult and dark years. Each of the 366 entries are brief and practical and will help you keep your eyes on the things above. The pithy, creative thoughts will stick with you throughout your day. Each entry includes a short Bible passage to read, often along with a brief phrase or thought to keep your God-directed focus throughout the day. The book features separate entries for each day of Lent and Advent. The format allows you to start at any time in your year, since it is not based on dates from the calendar year.

  • av Shari Schreiber
    415,-

Shari Schreiber learned about healing people by having to surmount her own painful life experiences. Tenacious about her pursuit of wholeness and wellness, she invented tools in her mid-twenties to help her grow beyond mere survival and learn to thrive. She imparted these tools and methods to her clients for eighteen of the twenty-five years she was passionately dedicated to helping others repair themselves. Returning to school at forty-one, she'd hoped to legitimize the talents she'd always had, but found that experience lacking. Ms. Schreiber has not worked as a state-licensed professional, because in her view, "psychotherapy" or mind work never seemed to resolve or remedy human pain. Her own approach was extremely unconventional, unique and effective in contrast to other forms of intervention, even within the realm of addiction recovery. Having retired from her wellness practice in late 2017, she hopes to publish many more books that might help you gain clarity, wholeness, contentment, inner peace and joy.

  • - The Odyssey of an Irish-American Family
    av Lansing Bergeron
    485

John James Brett and Mary Walsh found the prospect of beginning their married lives together in 1880's Ireland daunting. A future of almost certain poverty, or at the very least, extreme difficulty and depravation, would be facing them, and the potential for improvement of social and political conditions seemed remote. To raise children under existing circumstances would be fraught with challenge and danger. While not as high as during The Great Famine, or the lesser famine of 1879 and 1880, infant and child mortality rates were still extremely high, with severe food shortages, poor sanitation and hygiene, and of course poverty, being the primary contributing factors. And, should they be blessed and fortunate enough to be able to successfully raise their children to adulthood, the prospects for their future to be bright and prosperous would be negligible. Rather than accept the inherited circumstances, John embraced the concept of emigrating to the "promised land" of America. While cautious and reluctant at first, Mary soon captured the vision and became a strong supporter and advocate, regardless of the danger and profound uncertainty involved. 'By Pluck and by Faith' is the saga of John and Mary Brett, their children, and the generations that proceeded. As the seven children grow and mature, we trace their lives, and ultimately the lives of their children's children. These chronicles examine three generations of tragedies and triumphs, occasions of resounding success and of abject failure; hedonistic excess, sinfulness and even lawlessness, in juxtaposition to piety, discipline, virtue and prudence. The book will also hypothesize, projecting the impact that the nebulous and ill-defined concept of "fate" will have had on each of their lives.

John must protect the Jedidiah family, along with their friends-and he must inspire them to join him on his quest. In T. K. Kohl's exciting Quoin Ataraxis, Luke's darkness grows in him, and the fate of the world trembles in the balance, but John is ready to establish the foundation of peace, save those who wish to be saved, and assure those around him that all will be well.

  • - Come See His Darkness
    av Pastor Randy Pitts
    255,-

Satan and His Thugs are a Clue as To Why Humanity Was Created... Satan Fully Exposed is a book, which defines Satan and his agents, and their demonic schemes. More importantly it details why God really created mankind and why we are truly here. Sadly, most Christians are not truly aware of who Satan really is or exactly what his evil tactics are. This book reveals in scriptural detail how Satan deceives mankind and how he works through his arsenal of demonic agents. I provide you with in-depth detail about the four demonic entities (Ephesians 6:12) and how they work to accomplish Satan's deceitful schemes. This book gives you true biblical discloser as to why man was created in the first place, and what our exact purpose is, according to the infallible word of God. Again, most Christians think that we were created because God loved us. Well that is a very small part of the equation. This book teaches you the full truth, which incorporates the godly purpose of why God has mankind living in unison with Satan and his demonic angels. You see, earth was created after the heavens - Genesis 1:1. And Satan along with his thugs were cast down to earth - Revelation 12:7-9. And the lake of fire was first prepared for Satan and his angels, not for mankind - Matthew 25:41. So no, we are not the primary purpose in God's creation. We're secondary and for a divine function and reason. We are to be His spiritual witnesses.
