  • - President John F. Kennedy's Assassination Mystery
    av Frank A. Cellura
    489,-

Perpetual Cover-Up is the product of a lifelong endeavor of Attorney Frank A. Cellura to solve the mystery of the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy. It is a riveting, compelling, hard-hitting volume that is based upon logical analysis and fact-based research. In convincing fashion, Mr. Cellura describes the criminal conspiracy orchestrated by New Orleans Mafia capo, Carlos Marcello, that was followed by a concerted effort of the U.S. government and the media to cover-up the truth and to promote the "lone gunman" solution involving Lee Harvey Oswald. Mr. Cellura explores how the underlying forensic and testimonial evidence has been deliberately altered and manipulated in such a way to steer the public from discovery of the truth and suggests the motivations that have precipitated this cover-up that has spanned more than fifty years.

  • - Looking Back At My Many Lives - In Song A Memoir
    av Inez a Lasso
    179,-

My name is Inez A. Lasso. I was born in 1937 in the South Bronx of NYC, the youngest of four children. My mother, a Singing Contest Winner in her youth, filled our lives with music, singing with the radio as she cared for us. She turned the poverty of the Bronx into a happy home for us and singing and songwriting into a lifelong passion for me. After graduation from Jamaica High School in 1954, I had my first job with the Chase Manhattan Bank in Times Square, as a stenographer. Then, I had the opportunity to join a religious organization, the "Young Christian Workers" as a Lay Missionary in Bogota, Colombia. I tell of the work I did to form new groups and of the young people I met who were enthusiastic about the movement and hoped to have a better life. I met my future husband in Colombia, and he came to New York where we got married on June 16, 1961. We lived in Jackson Heights, N.Y. and had 2 children, Elena and Diana. We then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico as a better place to raise them. Our third daughter, Julie was born in Albuquerque. I always worked as a legal secretary and decided when I turned 40 yrs. old that I wanted to have a job that made a difference in the world - I wanted to be a Lawyer who fought for the rights of women who felt powerless. I enrolled in the University of Albuquerque and received my Bachelor of Business Administration; May 16, 1981. my Masters Certificate; from The Antioch School of Law for Equal Opportunity Law on February 15, 1983...and my Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico on May 16, 1984. I divorced my first husband in 1985 after 22 years of marriage. I tell of my life as a Student and my life as an Attorney at Law and, in retirement, as an Administrative Hearing Officer, A/KA The Judge. I tell of my Second Life with New Husband after I moved to D.C. to work as a lawyer with the Dept. of Labor. He is a blind bluegrass musician and I was able to join him as a harmony singer in his band in weekend gigs. We were marr

Josie followed a strict set of rules. That's how it was growing up in a predominately Irish Catholic community in the sixties. There was a certain etiquette that you were expected to adhere to. Josie was taught very early on not to air her dirty laundry in public. What happened in your home, stayed in your home, or there would be hell to pay. No whining or crying about each little adversity that fell into your path. Fear played a substantial role in child rearing. Children were to be seen, not heard. With a dangerous cop for a father, a mad beauty for a mother, a grandmother in denial and unforgiveable deeds secreted away within the shadows of Dead Man's Woods, Josie had been forced to find a way to survive. No one had a clue about what was going on behind closed doors at the McGinnis home. For the outside world, Josie played her role to the best of her ability because to do anything less would be deadly. For years, she had witnessed the smiles that granted approval to her picture-perfect family. Little did any of them know that behind the welcoming entry to their charming home, the flawless façade would fall away as quickly as the lock was set in place. Fortunately, for Josie, she had been an excellent student from infancy. She learned her lessons well from a cruel instructor that left her no other choice than to be vigilant. She spent years practicing for a moment in time that she knew would come for her. She garnered courage from her beloved dog, Apache, who saw her through the very worst of it. He was true and brave and was half her soul.

  • - The Most Important Year in 2000 Years
    av Cordell W Mitchell
    279

At the advanced age of 76, I lay before the reader what little insight I have received into my times. (Matthew 16:3) And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? I make no claims to inspiration, except that which is available to every believer in Christ. (Luke 16:29) Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. Two major prophecies finding a very real fulfillment in our day during this most important year in the last 2,000 years, I leave it to you, the reader, to ponder the weight this year should carry in your own mind This generation has had the greatest witness and has been given the greatest of signs. I have come to the place that I count my educational experience to not be of any value; only the pure Word of God and His Precious Holy Spirit.

During the embryonic years of this nation, Indigo Island was cultivated with plantations and populated with slaves brought from West Africa to work them. Needless to say, life was hard for the slaves, but because of the remoteness of the sea island, they were allowed to keep much of their West African culture alive, and devise an exclusive way of communicating; a patois of their own, called "Gullah Gee Chee". Fast-forward to the 1960s. Progeny of the Gullah-Gee Chee people live on the island, alongside a minority of whites; Rayma Rust, abused by her low-life, and mostly absent husband, raises children, Jasmine and Jerome, and the trio survives on the meager earnings from her restaurant. Doctor Beeler Custis, mourning the recent loss of his wife, Mary, lives on the island with his son, Wyman. Jasmine, Jerome, and Wyman become fast friends, and friends with their black neighbors, naturally immersing themselves in the Gullah-Gee Chee culture, and speaking the patois fluently. The boys form a band with the Greathouse brothers, sons of Mavis, a "Root Doctor", worshiper of Jesus Christ, a conjurer, and keeper of ancient traditions. The band, The Indigo Gullah Brothers, becomes quite popular, entertaining audiences with old -time blues, soul, and beach music. And when they aren't playing music, they are students of nature, studying the endless lessons proffered by life in the low-country. Enjoy this rare glimpse into the children of the marsh, who overcome the pain, and revel in the pleasures of their unique existence, with a dramatic flair which will keep you reading to the very end.

  • - A Story of How Missions Impacted the Lives of Zimbabwe's Forgotten Children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
    av Togara Mapingure
    279

You have been a baptised and confirmed member of your congregation for several years. Are you missing one of the most enlivening and fulfilling dimensions of the Christian Life? Rarely do you read such piously rendered honesty. Here's a compendium of cinematic, bouncy and inspiring mission stories good enough to read to the end of time to those whose dream is living a high-impact Christian life. What once seemed to be an accidental encounter suddenly becomes an irresistible mission force that defies all odds - health, economic, social and political - in reaching out to Zimbabwe's forgotten children dying of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Inspired by Lutherans is a tale of dramatic mission stories from the authors' hands-on compassionate experience. It's an insight you can't come to without having spent your considerable Christian life serving and interacting with people who are desperate for the most mundane acts of love to point them to Christ Jesus. Some of the portraits of missions that emerge in the stories are ominous, tender and harsh, but the brazen goal is to draw out creative and practical ways any new or weathered Christian can apply to their own faith while making an external difference in the lives of others.

  • - Uncensored - A Black Man's Insight and Poetic Perspective on Love
    av Ranis & III Thomas
    249

As a man being in many relationships and around different types of love, whether good or bad, I have learned that love is not always what it seems to be. I have been with gold-diggers, women with baby daddy drama, women that hate men but are lonely, women that truly love you, or people that are just miserable and treat you like crap. Although as a man I've gone through all kinds of ups and downs, there are also many women that struggle with the same situations and maybe three times over. I've also met women who continue to deal with men whom abuse them on a daily basis, suffer from jealous husbands who stalk them, men who loved them to death, or emotionally control them to the extent that they can't even eat or think. When learning to love self, I seem to recognize individuals who either show unconditional love towards me or people who have a difficult time showing any kind of emotional love towards me at all. If we pay more attention, we would know that all love isn't glamorous and in order to recognize the true secret of love, we must first love ourselves instead of putting so much emphasis on loving others. Well I hope as you read my unique book of poems on love, you are also enjoying the roller-coaster ride as it takes you through the unexpected twists and turns of love that so many of us hide in our daily battle of love. For the women and men who have found that perfect love I wish you many years of happiness and for others still searching for that love in their heart, always stay positive that your heart has a uniqueness for that special someone who will appreciate you very much. So remember it is never too late to love yourself and to love others that are willing to love you back.

  • - Our Place in Time (c. 1100 to 1300)
    av Kent Augustson
    375,-

This is the first book in a trilogy offering an original interpretation of our place in time that makes the discord of the current day more comprehensible. This is accomplished using three devices. First, recognizing that human history is the history of civilizations, we have identified four civilizations that, with their spread, account for about 85% of the world''s population today. These are Confucian China, Hindu India, the Muslim Middle East, and the Christian West. To gain an appreciation of these four is to know well today''s world and to glimpse where we are heading. Second, we provide a unique time frame for the progress of these civilizations which expands upon German philosopher-historian Karl Jasper''s well-regarded argument for an Axial Age relating to love, morality and wisdom in the centuries surrounding 500 BC. We postulate a new Axial Age in our day that speaks to power. Third, we make our simple but powerful hypothesis accessible by avoiding complex reasonings and endless accumulations of data. Rather, presented perceptively in each book are seventeen memorable tales about the civilizations that link to one another, interact with one another like a long novel of four families out of which our theme evolves. Beginning with 1100 AD when these civilizations start to meaningfully interrelate, the books cover three centuries apiece. The final chapter in this work provides a summation of how events in the 12th to 14th centuries directly relate to the present day.

  • - Trust Him

Vivid, real-life, survivor-type experiences presented in a very personal and touching way. The words truly seem to pour from Dean's heart. Filled with stories of complete and utter trust (and dependence) in the Lord their God. It quickly becomes obvious that Dean, Betty and their family truly did go through the experiences highlighted in this book. The words are alive, personal and descriptive of their generous hearts, physical and mental toughness, and commitment to under-served people. Their dedication and "all in" attitude toward building trust and working relationships with others less fortunate is significant, powerful and challenging. Dean accomplished his goal of recording and communicating special, precious times shared as a family that is indeed a legacy of hope, trust and courage. Furthermore, the challenge to grasp the incredible truth of God's love for each and all becomes obvious.

  • - The Unbounded Grace of the Heavenly Father
    av Jeff Becker
    189,-

About sixty years ago a Bible scholar and translator by the name of J. B. Phillips made the observation that for the majority of Christians, their "God was too small." He was not wishing to indicate something about God in some mechanical way, but was rather endeavoring to say something about our reduction of his greatness in the theological sense. For centuries, the church had managed to put God in a box. They formulated conceptions of Him which limited people''s thinking about Him. As it was, Nietschze was in one sense correct when he pronounced that "God is dead." If God were "dead," it would not be a stretch to say it was because the church had killed Him! In his parable, which has come to be known as "The Prodigal Son," Jesus obliterates the more diminutive conception of God''s greatness, specifically in terms of the boundlessness of his grace. It was quite the revelation, especially to Jesus'' religious opponents. As you read this parable and what I have to say about it, the question will be, with whom do you most readily and accurately identify, with the younger son, the older son, or with the father, and with reference to the latter, with his own "Prodigal Love"? That''s the question we must answer if we would respond to J. B. Phillips'' challenge. And it will tell us everything we need to know as to whether God is both large and alive in us!
