Bighorn, Pelicans and Wild Turkeys was written by Roland "Ro" Wauer who, throughout his 32-year career in the National Park Service, personally encountered all of the animals included. He wrote about the Beavers he found along the Rio Grande and the Scaled Quail on the open desert at Big Bend National Park (NP). He includes Nelson's Bighorn and Rock Wrens in the Panamint Mountains at Death Valley NP, Kaibab Squirrels at Grand Canyon NP, Ospreys and Pine Martens at Grand Teton NP, Black Swifts in the North Cascades NP, Bison, Pronghorn and White Pelicans in Yellowstone NP, and American Dippers, Canyon Wrens and White-throated Swifts at Zion NP. Other more exotic species were found at distant localities: Bridled Quail-Doves at St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Crested Quail-Doves in Jamaica, and Potoos in Jalisco, Mexico. In addition, Aransas National Wildlife Refuge provided the setting for Whooping Cranes and Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge provided the setting for Hook-billed Kites and Parauques. Other species included were encountered either in his own yard or nearby: Buff-bellied Hummingbirds, Cottontails, Inca Doves, Eurasian Collared-Doves, Eastern Fox Squirrels, Mississippi Kites, and Wild Turkeys.

In this independently funded study, the authors address the future of the world's supplies of clean water, exploring in depth the U.S.A.'s Colorado River Basin, where a variety of approaches have been used and proposed to manage provision and allocation of the Colorado River water. Increases in population and water usage, along with uncertainties associated with climate change, put the future availability of adequate water supplies in doubt. Rules and regulations are traditional approaches to handling common resource maintenance and usage. With no rules, the tendency to use the resource inefficiently and not to maintain it produces the free-rider problem sometimes called the "tragedy of the commons," a phrase popularized by Garrett Hardin in 1968. An alternative to rule-setting and enforcement is to establish market rights to water supply, with the higher-value uses commanding higher prices and receiving more investment. The pros and cons of this approach are discussed in a chapter of this book. Elaine Parker Adams is one of the many survivors of Hurricane Harvey, which devastated the Houston, Texas area in 2017. Although her life goes on, it is forever altered, as she experienced the terror of the storm, the uncertainty of evacuation, and the difficult rebuilding of her home. Writing Hurricane Harvey Lowku allowed Adams to explore the storm and flooding, as well as the rescue, recovery, and rebuilding, through a unique blend of poetry and narrative. Lowku is a type of haiku focused on social issues. As this book helped Adams chronicle, understand, and heal from tragedy, Hurricane Harvey Lowku will benefit other individuals in communities combatting disasters and reclaiming their homes and lives.

Lost Time is Diana Darab's first collection of poetry. Originally written in English, the author later decided to translate the poems and release a bilingual collection. Some of the Farsi translations are not entirely faithful to the original versions; the author has taken the liberty to render the sense of some verses rather than individual words.The Poems reflect on time, love and loss. Some of the poems have elegiac tone.Diana Darab was born in Arak, a small city in Iran. She completed her undergraduate studies in Tehran and came to California for her graduate studies. She received her Ph.D. in comparative literature from the University of California, Riverside and the Title of her dissertation is The Rhetoric of Intertextuality and Doubtful Authority: A Comparative Study of William Faulkner, Houshang Golshiri and Alain Robbe-Grillet. She recently gave a lecture about her dissertation to the program in Iranian Studies at Stanford University that can be found on YouTube.
