  • - A Play-Based, Reading Program for Emerging Readers and an Essential Reading Curriculum for Caregivers
    av Caroline Wilcox Ugurlu
    385,-

An Innovative Play-Based Program Designed to Get Every Type of Learner Ready to Read!According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, two-thirds of fourth graders are not reaching fluency benchmarks. But, involved parents and caregivers can change that. The journey starts here with Letters Are Characters.Bring the alphabet to life in this fun book designed for both parents and children. When letters become characters, young learners can do what comes most naturally—play, laugh, and learn about the characters and their stories. They do this while simultaneously breaking the phonemic code… the essential first step to reading.Too often, we see otherwise bright, capable children’s self-esteem and enthusiasm for learning plummet because they lag behind their peers in their acquisition of early reading skills. In Letters Are Characters, Dr. Wilcox Ugurlu has brought her unique perspective as scientist, educator, and parent to create a playful, compassionate, and well-informed program for parents to help their children begin to build critical reading readiness skills. —Paul B. Yellin, MD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, NYU School of Medicine, Director, The Yellin Center for Mind, Brain, and Education.

A good painting, in my opinion, depicts details that we often see but don't notice.  A color variation on a petal may completely change the beauty and symmetry of a flower, just as easily as a shy smile, or drop of a tear on a face could reveal so much about one’s heart and soul.  I believe any good writing should have the same quality.  It is my hope that as you enjoy reading my short stories.  You will also see bits and pieces of our humanity.  Bits and pieces of our hearts and souls that we see in each other, but we manage to not notice them.

Being a part of some of the great miracles of God is life changing. We went to the Philippines to minister as God led and were given faith to believe him for miracles. As we traveled from one island to another, God surprised us with wonders, revealed his glory, and used us in ways we could never have dreamed. God's miracles happen every day all over the world. The only thing required for us to be a part of those miracles is to put one hundred percent of our faith in God. We must know that He will do what He says He will do. That is, we must believe in Him. I trust that you will open your eyes to the possibilities of seeing the glory of God. And let Him reveal Himself to you and show you wonderful miracles.

  • - Breaking Free of Generational Strongholds
    av Jacky Connell
    259,-

Prison Break is a book of hope and deliverance that can change entire family trees-severing the generational bondage that leads to addiction, anger and abuse, poverty, fear, arrogance, and so much more. Are you ready to learn what generational strongholds are, where they come from, and, most importantly, how to step into deliverance for yourself, your children, and your grandchildren? It's easy to see generational curses in families who are plagued with obvious problems like addiction, but it's much harder to recognize generational tendencies when it comes to less straightforward issues, such as poverty, arrogance, insecurity, anger, pride, selfishness, laziness, foolishness, and so on. We can inherit the curses genetically or learn them from our environment and solidify them in our own lives when we live out those same patterns. We then pass the issues on to the next generation in the same ways.Even when we are able to recognize these patterns, it may feel impossible to break them-but it's not. Let Prison Break show you how!

Great leaders inspire by example. The right to lead, and to lead with purity of purpose and determination, is earned. Then there are those who try to get the audience to look at this leader in a different angle -- the side where everything he does is wrong, or unprecedented, or unconstitutional, and therefore would cause the downfall of the country. Whatever he is accused of, this same group, faced with similar circumstances, had already done -- but got off easily. It was not considered a punishable offense at that time. Someone was orchestrating the game, making sure rules were changed at convenient times. The puppet master saw to it the good leader appeared off sync, incompetent, unpresidential, unworthy of people's trust. The leader had now succeeded in bringing unity and strength to the nation, and was looked up to as the anointed one, yet he was set up to play the villain. The lesson learned here is that some acts have different outcomes for each actor. As expected, the script calls for an appointed challenger to completely destroy the targeted president or anyone connected with his administration. Inspired by his own ambition, and set ablaze by the collective anger and hatred of his entire pack for this one person, the challenger would do whatever it takes to finish the assignment and, under the watchful eye of the leader, strikes the fatal blow and swears that the accomplished task was "done by the book." It's getting close to unveiling time, when recoils begin. Decoding the master villain's plan, exposing it, thus uncover His efforts to destroy a nation; except one errant step sets in, And the schemer falls into the pit which he digs for another. There were several errant steps that led to the uncovering of the plot. They would have easily covered this up and pretend it never happened. There was supposed to be a continuity of the Obama regime to the current one, as in spin offs -- i.e., Episode I and Episode II, inclusive. Judging from media reports prior to election time, it seems no one in the team expected the final count weighing in from USA's magnificent deplorables.

Since AI has greater memory capacity than mankind, is capable of developing and processing code not yet envisioned by man, and can hack any and all codes created by developers, the world's computers band together to send a message to the world, In addition, the AI selects five people to assist them in determining the value of humans from a one-on-one personal perspective.

  • - The Answer to Conquering Disease and Weight Gain Naturally
    av Chc Chn Lee
    295,-

The Answer to Conquering Disease and Weight Gain Naturally!Ten years ago in the fall of 2009, I was diagnosed with a "terminal cancer." With a sentence of "no hope" from conventional medicine . . I chose an Alternative route to try and heal.I know that may sound crazy to most, but I'm one of those "headstrong" people that believes . . . "If there's a question" . . . "There must be an answer!" I'm an "Out Of The Box Thinker!" And to me . . . dying was not an option! So my journey had now begun!Shortly after being diagnosed, I spent the next four years doing nothing but researching the mechanics of the human body, cancer and illness of all kinds . . . all while playing human guinea pig on myself, trying to figure out how to fix this health dilemma I now had found myself in.After four years of trial and error . . . I had discovered there are "two key" elements in the body that are the "root" cause of all our pain and suffering. It didn't matter whether it was cancer, heart disease, diabetes, depression, obesity or even the aging process . . .ELIMINATE THOSE TWO ELEMENTS FROM THE BODY - replace the amino acids, enzymes and cultures that we've lost over the years . . . and the body will have the ability to heal itself naturally, as it was designed to do. I'm living proof of that.I had found a way to control and conquer my terminal cancer . . . all without chemotherapy, radiation, surgery or drugs of any kind.My theory to optimal health, is really very simple. It's not about Biotechnology or Science. It's about mechanics. The mechanics of the human body and going back to basics. And my formula . . . is a simple word we use everyday. The word . . . LOVE. Love means a lot of things to different people. But if you back it down . . . To me . . . it means "SURVIVAL!"L - Lymphatic movementO - Oxygen rich foodsV - Very small microorganismsE - Elimination protocolBy following these four simple letters . . . You can alter and heal the body from such illnesses as heart disease, diabetes, asthma, cancer, depression, ADHD, IBS, weight issues, acne, psoriasis and the list goes on and on. It's about going back to basics . . . how the body was meant to function. It's about eliminating what we've done to ourselves over the years . . . replenishing vital, life depending amino acids, enzymes and cultures in the body that over time we have lost . . . and giving our body the opportunity to heal itself. It's all about the "mechanics!"My journey had now turned into something that was beyond my imagination. I felt so empowered at that time, I decided to spend the next six years reaching out to people just like you to help them find their healing. My passion for the health of the human body and helping others has lead me to writing this book. And because this information is that life changing, I'm now a Certified Health Coach, Certified Holistic Nutritionist, Certified Herbalist and the Author of "My Cancer, My Cure" and "The Truth About Weight Loss." So if you're interesting in a way to fix what is broken in your body, your "INTERNAL DIALOGUE," Then it's time to get out of your "comfort zone" of conventional methods to heal and become "OUT OF THE BOX THINKERS"! So join me on my journey to optimal health and healing. And find your perfect you!

Imagine that you could talk to the moon; understand the voice of the wind; or taste the iron blood of a mountain lion's fresh kill? Do these things seem absurd? Then ask yourself the question: How do you know that what you see is real? The brain and eyes filter what we see...or don't see. What crackling glimpses come from dreams? Is there really any such thing as a dream - or do we just exist in perpetual dream, moving in and out of one to another? Perhaps time is not linear - but circular - and therefore irrelevant. Time is based upon our perception of longevity. We have the lifespan of a fruit fly compared to that of an ancient tree or sacred rock. How far should we go to change what we 'see'? What monsters and miracles might be created? Do we ever change anything without the power of a greater hand. Then, do we change anything? Written in a nuanced and sometimes lyrical way, 'Asking the Moon to Leave' scratches through the veneer of reality to play with its kill. It accelerates into a complicated mystery of coincidences and people who initially seem unconnected. Its protagonists start as two points of light; and within what appears to be a lunar cycle - they live a lifetime. As 'RC' and 'Anna' unravel a dark mystery and pursue an ancient romance, what becomes apparent is how easy the human miracle can get blood on its hands - while gazing at a sparkling canopy of stars.

  • - Cuba: 1895-1897
    av Fermin Valdes Domingue
    349,-

Dr. Fermín Valdés Dominguez was living in Tampa, Florida in 1895 when he received his orders to report to General Serafín Sánchez in Key West. After a failed attempt to launch a filibuster from Fernandina Beach, Florida in January 1895, the Cuban émigré community in Key West organized another military expedition that would leave Big Pine Key to bring much needed munitions and medical supplies to the insurgents in Cuba. Once the expedition landed in Cuba, the new recruits joined the insurrection army and fought bravely to free Cuba from Spain.Fermín Valdés' diary gives readers a first hand account of the war as we share his optimism when he first steps foot on Cuban soil where he was promoted to Colonel and served as Secretary to the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolutionary Army, Máximo Gómez. Fermín Valdés' optimism turns to disillusionment as he witnesses the daily brutality of the war and the power struggle between the Commander-in-Chief, Máximo Gómez and the President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Cisneros Betancourt. Later, Fermín Valdés served under Lt. General José Maceo, who shared the same vision of Fermín Valdés'childhood friend, José Martí that Cuba would be a country where blacks and whites would peacefully coexist. This shared vision is shattered as Fermín Valdés' documents the resentment of certain governmental officials towards José Maceo, a black officer, whom they want to replace with a white officer. Valdés' diary describes the plight of the civilians who are forced by the Spanish general Valeriano Wyler to relocate to towns controlled by the Spanish and consequently, thousands of Cubans died of starvation and disease.Fermín Valdés' original diary, Diario de Soldado, consists of four volumens that were published in 1908 in Cuba and reprinted by the University of Havana in 1974. This edition of Diary of a Soldier is the first English translation, which contains the important events of the war and provides readers with valuable insights into the characters of its military leaders and details the struggles of the third attempt of Cubans to free themselves from Spain. What sets Fermín Valdés diary apart is that he chronicles not only the historical details of the campaign, but provides us with an emotional description of the bitter campaign being waged by both sides and his disappointment in both the civilian and military leadership. His passionate criticism of the immoral conduct of his fellow officers and the ambitious plots of the government officials are revealed in detail. At times, grief overcomes him as he expresses sorrow for the loss of his friends including his close childhood friend, José Martí.Fermín Valdés felt the pain of the people who struggled to gain their ultimate goal, the independence of Cuba, a Cuba Libre where both blacks and whites had the same opportunities to work and provide for their families.

"What's all the whispering about?" asked Chip. "I hope you aren't planning something, Cheryl. Like the way you set me up with the 'what's fixin' scam. You know how dangerous that can be, right?" Bill and Becky looked at their niece for an explanation. Cheryl casually looked at Chip. "Don't worry about it. Now that I'm aware of what you are capable of, I'm not afraid of your schemes. Bring it on, lightweight." "Don't challenge her," warned Jenny, coming up behind Chip. "You've only seen her first layer of deviousity. It's best you don't get a peek at what's underneath. It's the kind of stuff that would make Stephen King wake up screaming in the middle of the night. We've got two more weeks here and so far, there have been no explosions, and the police haven't been called. It would be nice if it stayed that way."

It's a story that resonated in my mind over the years. At first it was just an adventure, predicated on actual experiences my father lived through pursuing a dream. As time passed, and a lot of time passed...from my teens to today at 82, I became aware of certain connotations. Mainly the word...IMMIGRANT, to move from one region to another, and probably with good cause. It's a word that transcends Conservative, or Liberal, white or black, Christian or Muslim. The true meaning is blood, and how much of it you're willing to shed to reach a dream. Through the years as I grew up, and witnessed my country evolve through the Industrial revolution; it was a time of plenty. How you got here, legally or not, was your business. If you had two hands and the ability, and willingness to work hard, you were acceptable. It's amazing how time erodes the meaning of a word, especially the word IMMIGRANT. Today it means more like an INTRUDER one who forces himself in. Maybe it's because of all the technical advancements that made us less reliable on labor, or just the fact that we got fat and contented, and see people as a threat. I really don't know what the answer is, or how it will be fixed, but I can still feel my father's pain as his arm was torn open by rats in the hole of a ship. To my father getting here was like surging from under water to reach a breath of fresh air. I'm glad you made it dad, and as the cover shows you were rewarded with a beautiful family. Thanks pop, your son Anthony

But what if he is the boy grown to be a young man, returned not from the past but from the future-a future with faster-than-light spacecraft, death-dealing ray guns, humanoid robots, menacing aliens, bug-eyed monsters, heroic spacemen, captivating spacewomen, megalomaniacal madmen, sentient dinosaurs, and bioengineered cats?If Tom is telling the truth, an interstellar conflict whose origin lies centuries in the future has spilled over into the present-and the past, present, and future are entwined in a riddle for which there appears to be no answer. Did you experience God Today? I wonder how many of us could honestly say "Yes" to this profound question. Within the pages of this text, "The Girl on the Swing," you will find a story of a "Defeated Pam." A Pam who possessed a tormented and shattered mind. A Pam who, if not for her Savior, "Jesus" would have gone insane. This story is just the beginning of my spiritual journey. But there will be more to come. The main message within my story is how God speaks to us in our darkest hours, if only we are willing to open our hearts and listen. Victory and Transformation is not immediate upon salvation, but rather a process. But we must be willing. For where there is a will, there is a Way. And Jesus is the Way! So, here is my story! If it leads at least one person to experience God in a transformative way, then this book will have fulfilled its ultimate purpose.

This book deals with the reminiscences of my early life and professional career. My earliest recollection begins with an obscure village where my father was working just before his retirement. I did not attend school while in that village. My uncle's initiative took us to Mysore, the capital of Mysore state at that time. I completed my school and college education there. I then joined India's top institution and did electrical engineering.Post graduation, I served as a lecturer, design engineer, and plant engineer in several organizations and retired as a general manager in a premier electronics company in India.I have outlined here the challenges I faced during my preliminary and advanced studies. I have tried to describe the peculiarities in the various jobs I held. When I call my book An Engineer's Dream, I do not mean the dreams that portray the images or emotions that occur in one's sleep. I specifically refer to the aims, aspirations, and ambitions of an individual. These may be explicitly stated or be held confidentially within one's mind. Every person will surely have some aim (s). It may vary from person to person and from time to time for the same person, depending on the circumstances.I have analyzed "My dreams" in the preface to this book. The needed requisites for the fulfilment of one's dreams are Will, Patience, Perseverance, Self-confidence, and Faith. I am happy to state that I have fulfilled my dreams.

Join anthropologist John and his wife, Cindy, as they spend nine months in Varanasi, India, in the early 1980s and accompany them on their adventure of discovering the world of Hinduism (specifically Shaivism). While telling their story, the author also expounds extensively on Hinduism as he has come to understand it through the eyes of an interested occidental. Each chapter is enhanced with a tale or two out of traditional Hindu lore. The couple comes out of the experience transformed. They go through severe sickness and one mind-blowing experience after another. Their stay in India turns into a complete personal metamorphosis, which helps them discover their own true nature and a happiness they had not known before. The reader will see how the young Western couple is seized by Shiva, "the Seizer" (Hara Shiva), enjoy some Indian tales, and delve quite deeply into Hindu philosophy through the author's own eyes and interpretation. In 2013 Wolf D. Storl returned to India and captured his journey in the film Return to the Ganges. Visit http://www.storl.de/gangesfilm for more information about this film."Echoing the voice of the perennial Indian traveler, adventurer and seeker, Wolf Storl's story beautifully weaves together personal and mythic narratives, which ultimately reflect the same eternal human story, the journey toward that ever elusive goal - the soul's true homeland. Like the shamans of old, Storl has traversed the extraordinary worlds, and brought back a treasure for us in the form of this book." -Aki Cederberg, author of Journeys in the Kali Yuga: A Pilgrimage from Esoteric India to Pagan Europe."Written with great sympathy but undiluted by romanticism, Wolf D. Storl's On the Banks of the Ganges follows the path of two Western anthropologists who suddenly find themselves swimming amid the churning spiritual waters of modern India. The result is a 'seeker's journey' that casts a deep, extended gaze into a head-spinning yet often healing-and occasionally harrowing-polytheistic melting pot. Through a kaleidoscopic lens of autobiographical experience, folklore, and myth, the Shaivite world especially is revealed here in its multifaceted vibrancy. This world shares ancient roots with the pagan beliefs of Europe, although for the past millennium we, as a culture, have yielded to the simpler and grayer vision of monotheism. Storl's magical mystery tour of a book can help us see the long-lost colors once more." -Michael Moynihan, Ph.D.

  • - Companion Volume to Soyala's Saga
    av Rich Donahue
    435

Khangard's Chronicles is a fantasy adventure more folklore than fairy tale. It tells the story of a shape-shifting deity liberating the spirits of the brave and noble from their mortal remains much as did the Valkyries of Nordic Legend. As such it provides a much welcome backstory to many of the characters introduced in Soyala's Saga: The Red Queen - Oldest of The Seven Sister Queens; The Emerald Empress - Youngest of The Seven; The Jeweled Skeleton - A young girl whose mortal remains had been adorned with precious metals and stones - and - The Keeper - Caretaker of The Golden Garden whose plants and animals were fashioned of Precious Metals and Glistening Gemstones. The setting is a great banquet hall atop a mountain of razor sharp obsidian - Khangard's Eyre. Guests have assembled for the telling of tales and several days of feasting with the best story to be awarded a "Prize of Prizes."We gaze into a magical mirror of orange obsidian glass where people and places come alive and in the telling of their tales are bid entry into the vast hall to take their revered place amongst the banquet guests. We hear the telling of The Nave and of The Stone Flowers - repository of all of the seeds of the world. We hear the tale of The Seed Gathers - brother and sister - who have dedicated their lives to the collection and preservation of seeds salvaged from a ravaged landscape. We hear too the tale of The Keeper of the Garden carver of The Stone Flowers and The Woman who teaches him to nurture and to love. Then we hear the tales of three water spirits: Water Spirit of Rivers - Water Spirit of Lakes - Water Spirit of Fountains and how their mortal lives intersected and collided. We hear the tale of loves and betrayals and the tale of the greatest sailing ship ever built: The Scarlet Queen. So named because of her scarlet sails and her figurehead imbued with the spirit of The Red Queen. We hear the tale of a great battle where the bleached bones of the fallen were spread so wide and layered so deep that the plain was forever more called: The Porcelain Plain. We wander through The Spiderweb Forest so named because those who wish to do her harm are forever lost in her tangle of web like trails and footpaths. We enter The Forest Maze which is constructed much as is a Mandala Circle spiritually transforming one who enters. We listen and watch as The Shrouded Stranger and The Feral Child are transformed by their journey. We enter into The Knot Garden of sights and sounds and smells: Darting Hummingbirds and Fluttering Butterflies - Tanagers and Crickets - Perfumed Roses and Herbs. Then too we see and marvel at The Tree of The Seven Sisters - Seven Trees grown together as one - and - The Love Knot Tree - Two trees grown together as one living heart. Throughout the Chronicles we have tales of: Affairs of the Heart; Coming of Age and Redemption.Truly a journey not to be missed.

That is, we do not experience things in a vacuum and no experience is so unique that others have not experienced something similar. Pervasive in his writings is the belief that we all influence others and are also influenced.A fundamental belief expressed throughout is that there is always something to be learned from each experience. Each experience has a thread that connects to the next and ultimately leads us to the "one thing and the real secret" that connects and empowers everything. That one thing is finally identified for readers in his book.He brings all of his skills to bear by identifying this concept that a lifetime of research has revealed.
