  • - In the Beginning It Was Not So - Revised Edition
    av Jackson Okpale
    315,-

The Church is at the third and perhaps final leg of its journey.  As nations undergo development, the churches of the nations that become developed relapse into complacency and lukewarmness thereby compromising their Christian faith while those of developing nations remain significantly rigid and at the extreme.  As a result, the centre of Church unity gave way and individuals resorted to self-help and define Christian faith by what seems right or wrong in their opinion.Painfully, many Christians no longer remember the object of their faith, which is, to influence others with the virtue of Christ. Those dedicated to service have become the subject of persecution. Although persecution aims at discouraging the faithfuls from professing and practising their faith, it helps in the spread of Christianity and keeps the church spiritually strong and healthy, how then can one describe a situation where it is the Church that persecutes the faithfuls?Regrettably, many churches are altering their creed to accommodate the new communities of unrepentant believers and replacing faithfuls with reprobates; they smuggle materialism into the Church and are raising hybrid of materialistic Christians. In docility, the Church has jettisoned the Christian mission for the pursuit of material wealth and is breeding a completely new generation of “Very Shallow and Ignorant Christians”, who are lacking in the basic values of the Christian faith. No wonder, when they prophecy, it no longer comes to pass. The Church: In the beginning it was not so, is the history of Christianity and the Church, which aims to build a strong base of Christian faith in individual Christians and the Church in general.

  • - Examining the Wall of Separation
    av Adelbert L Wilber
    309,-

Church and State examines the wall of separation Thomas Jefferson spoke of in his letter to the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802 to answer a letter from them written in October 1801. The Danbury Baptists were a religious minority in Connecticut, and they complained that in their state, the religious liberties they enjoyed were not seen as immutable rights, but as privileges granted by the legislatureas favors granted. Jeffersons reply did not address their concerns about problems with state establishment of religiononly of establishment on the national level. The letter contains the phrase wall of separation between church and state, which led to the shorthand for the Establishment Clause that we use today: separation of church and state. The Jeffersonian view has been contentious, to say the least; a great many scholars and politicians have tried to comprehend Jeffersons true meaning, extending his viewpoint in later judicial and legislative decisions. Strong feelings expressed by clergy, statesmen, and politicians have created a strong theistic undertow in Constitutional Law that has seen attacks on Christianity and Judaism increase since the Clinton Administration and culminating into a cacophony of anti-theistic rhetoric under the Obama Administration. With the election of President Trump, we must look back to see the original intent of our founding fathers, take a snapshot of the current state of separation, and peer into the future to see if the balance between politics and religion can be sustained.

  • - The Galaxy of ELL
    av Sue Westgate
    345,-

Kantinna Taezen, the third book from The Galaxy of ELL series, is an irreverent look at the epic hero genre. Kantinna is self-described as a willful nonconformist and follows her own way through her heroic journey. Even as the heroine of her own epic hero adventure, she doesn’t follow the typical epic hero format. Instead of defeating the monster, she is the Siren. Rather than retreating from an epic battle to return to win the day, her battle is with personal demons of financial dependence in order to cling to her crumbling dream. On the eve of the Daineen civil war, Kantinna Taezen is desperately trying to fulfill a lifelong dream she has sacrificed everything for … including love. During a rather challenging day of equipment repair, she takes on the extraordinary journey alone across the sector to save her world and her way of life based on nothing more than a command. She does not know that her quest is to deliver Netrair tactical information to the Dainee government to provide the ultimate advantage for the upcoming war. Unknown to the Daineen, a successful delivery will prevent the ultimate extinction of the Daineen people. During her quest, torment follows her every step of her journey of duty as she is pulled both further and farther away from fulfilling her dream to become a ship engineer. Will Kantinna's epic journey end in failure or be a pivot point not only for herself but for the entire Daineen species and the Galaxy of ELL as a whole?

  • - An Unlikely Love Story that Saved America
    av Rodney K Smith
    475,-

"From courtship to death, the unlikely love story between Dolley and James Madison evidences that historical truth is often more engaging than fiction. James, the Father of the Constitution, and Dolley, America's "first, First Lady," combined their unique talents to lead the nation they loved safely through its tumultuous first generation, from the perilous War of 1812 into an unprecedented Era of Good Feelings. During their service, especially as Americans watched with horror when the British burned America's capital and the President's House, "The Madisons" were attacked viciously by their opponents, but always responded with equanimity, fearlessness, and fidelity to liberty and the constitutional rule of law. By facing adversity with unparalleled grace, they stand as a much-needed example of civility worthy of emulation in our times. Their love story, as captured in the pages of this book by a noted constitutional lawyer and historian, is riveting, heartwarming and faith-promoting"--

It was all so . . . weird. She had just seen him for the first time in her life and she felt as if she had known him forever. His voice was echoing in her soul as if reminding her of a beloved melody she inadvertently forgot. She had the impression that her hands could feel the silkiness of his hair. She could swear that she perfectly remembered the smell of . . . his skin. When he touched her hand, she felt exactly the same thing as a few years ago, when she lost consciousness after she held in her hands the mysterious note from her benefactor and the pendant in the shape of an angel, with the difference that the feeling that she knew today was a thousand times stronger than the one then. And when he kissed her hand again when saying goodbye, she fainted. She knew however that it wasn’t an ordinary collapse. It felt as if her soul had detached itself from her body and glided in an unknown direction to show her a place she had not seen before, and his face . . . the face marked with unfamiliar pain, longing and waiting for something she could not grasp. An internal flame was burning in her heart, bringing unknown images she wasn’t able to recognise, yet she was sure she had seen them before.  The truth is hidden inside. Find it . . .

Slipping in the Church is an addition to my first book, Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, but I kept hearing, what happened? I had this notion that everything would be peaches and cream once I accepted Christ-Not! I will take you on my journey of many struggles I continued to deal with while going to church, trying to figure out how to maneuver as a born-again believer, while still trying to hold onto the things of the world. Some things I was instantly freed from; some behaviors took years to overcome, such as smoking, drinking, the abortions, amongst other things, while still hanging on to the Word of God, which I had sown into my life from what I had learned.

  • av Joe Hannabach
    189,-

This is a poetry of love found and lost, of bitterness and humility, desire and sometimes a state beyond love. A poetry that laughs at tragedy, cries at beauty, and sings in the face of loss, written with the sensibilities of a mature man who remembers what being young was like. Hannabach, an unregenerate sailor, a life-long student, and a deeply rooted jazz musician, speaks with a voice that strikes many of life''s major chords and a few minor ones. The poet''s fresh, direct, honest pieces are quite readable, often irreverently funny, and laced with a self-depreciating irony and wry humor that deal with life at its most deadly serious moments as well as its bungling hilarities. An inveterate seeker after "meaning" in his life as well as his writings, his simultaneous awareness of the absurd makes for some eminently engaging reading. The pieces reveal a salty, brave, self-effacing man who''s lived through multiple emotional debacles, some small triumphs and private glories, and the intellectual honesty to translate it all into some damn good poetry.

The ancient healing arts of Shamanism and Yoga are based in the belief that all of nature is one energy system and that there is inherent wisdom and comfort in this unity and inter-relatedness.  This unity has a vast range, spanning from cells to planets, seeds to great trees, grass leaves to stars. The introduction chapter of Shamanic Yoga and Psycho-Emotional Healing sets up the philosophy and atmosphere for the practice.  Chapters two to ten offer nine Shamanic Yoga direct healing experiences and each one includes a beautiful professional photograph.  Each of the nine Shamanic Yoga experiences contain a photographed anatomical/gentle movement section along with breathing cues, meditation-relaxation ideas, visualization-imagery journeys and cognitive connections to self awareness that invoke mind expansion and psycho-emotional pattern shifts.  Each of the nine offerings conclude with a nature based poem by the author followed by a four line simple practice for healing.

    av T Charles Brantley
    269,-

As we look at the current landscape of the church, we are seeing things that are beyond imagination. What was looked at as wrong and sinful has been downgraded to nothing is really wrong at all. In other words, the church, in many points, has turned its backs on orthodox teaching all in the name of the dollar, branding, people or buildings. What is worse is that those who proclaim the gospel are really denying the gospel they preach. Certain points of the Bible are erased from their teaching because it is perceived as too hard, or that it will scare people away. The word of God is not fluid; it is sharper than any two-edged sword

  • - My story of self-discovery through the love of animals.
    av Nuvia Yesenia
    235,-

First of all, thank you for reading my book. Since I was a child I had a huge passion for writing and animals. The love for animals has given me a purpose. The love for writing has giving me something to do with my life. I became vegan two years ago, and let me state that it has been my best decision ever. Upon becoming vegan my life transformed into something magical. I can not find the perfect words to describe how much happier and healthier I am since I became vegan. I feel the day I became vegan I was born again. I have been enlightened. I have been given a second chance to live a life full of positive energy. Prior to becoming vegan my life was a chaotic nightmare. All of a sudden I have woken up. I invite you to give this journey a try. You might be surprised as much as I was once I made the choice.I was addicted to alcohol, drugs, and negative self-talk. I felt as if I would live that way for the rest of my life. It all changed the day I became vegan. Being vegan is more than a diet, it is a life-style where you do good to yourself and the planet. Becoming vegan was a positive change for me but a scary one too. The world I thought I knew while growing up was not real. I always felt out of place and if I did not belong on this world. After countless times of suicidal attempts, I concluded that I was put on this Earth to make something big out of my life. The love I have for animals opened up a door for me that for years I did not see. Veganism made that door visible and everything I thought I was, was not true. After experiencing the wonderful changes in this vegan life-style I will never turn back to my old life. I share with you all of my enlightened thoughts in this book. I hope that once you read this book, you too will be enlightened.
