  • - Memoirs of a Counselor/Educator
    av Greg Delaney
    369,-

Throughout the many centuries of human history, each successive generation has accumulated its own collection of knowledge, experience, and wisdom to be passed on to the next. "Two Chairs and a Box of Tissues" is author Greg Delaney's vision of how the "baton of knowledge" is being passed from generation to generation in the sometimes misunderstood and mischaracterized profession of mental health and substance use disorder counseling. Delaney draws upon decades of his own training and experience as a counselor as well as over fifteen years of educating and training addiction counselors in order to tell the tale of Kathleen, just beginning her career, and Greg, nearing retirement after four decades of helping others.Kathleen is a graduate student in mental health counseling who needs help with her thesis. Clinical research related to the topic of Kathleen's dissertation is difficult to find. Frustrated, she initiates a series of interviews with Greg, an experienced counselor and educator, to examine her strongly held beliefs about the importance of the counselor's personal health and wellness to the success of the therapeutic process. Kathleen hopes that these discussions will give her examples in support of her thesis.Even though her initial expectation was simple answers to a number of interview questions, Kathleen soon realizes that Greg seems willing to share with her in depth and detailed information about his career. She senses that this is a unique opportunity to get a true "behind the scenes" learning experience from someone who has almost forty.

The Astrological Degrees is the first book of quantum astrology and the last word on horoscope interpretation. This small volume is no ordinary book. It is a Stellar Dictionary that applies the central theoretical strength of Niels Bohr's Copenhagen Interpretation to Euclid to define every terrestrial affair imaginable with astonishing precision. The Astrological Degrees is the ultimate cosmic-conscious reference text. Fully grasping the contents of this hyper-condensed glossary will take many years of assiduous study. The intellectual, moral and spiritual rewards for such study, however, are beyond estimation. The Astrological Degrees is the most important and revolutionary book of astrology ever published.

Beautiful Poems and Short Stories is a book about life experiences and people who have made great impressions and have taught me a lot about life. I had a wonderful neighborhood with very interesting families that lived there. We all cared for each other even though we did not have a lot of money, but on our street we didn't consider ourselves as being poor. We all helped each other in need and because of our love for each other, we were rich in heart. It is about how much fun we all had as children, playing all kinds of games, running, jumping, playing sports, riding our bicycles and homemade go-carts all over the neighborhood until night fall. There are poems about my siblings that I grew up with, we had so much fun, and some were good at times and bad at times. Some of my poems are happy and sad, one minute you are laughing, then, the next time you are sad. It is about life and life's experiences. Some of my poems are inspiring and inspirational. Most of all it will take you back to the good old days when you were a child and you could walk in the streets of Little Rock, Arkansas south end at night and nothing happen to you. It will take you back to when you played without a care in the world. You could shout to the top of your lungs, right out loud and have fun. Life was never boring, it was always something going on good or bad. It is also about the times when my family and I would travel and we would get a chance to see the beautiful sites in Arkansas and other states in the USA. Some parts of this country is so breathtaking. This book is relaxing and calming as you read. It will take you back in the past, in the future and will still keep you in the present. It is always a good time to remember the good old days and reminisce about some of the things that happened in the past. It has poems about my dad, when he served in World War II and about my mother who has Alzheimer's. Each poem is very special and so very nice. When you start reading this book you won't want to put it down until you are finished.

"Trauma-informed writing workshop is a method that builds both engagement and the student's sense of self-efficacy--it can restore and grow both the desire and capacity to learn."Today's youth are growing up in an age of stress and trauma, and nowhere is that more apparent than in the classroom. Everyone, young and old, has the dream of the perfect love - a dream of finding a true soulmate with whom to share life. Young people often have romantic thoughts crowding out the more mundane as they think about their future and long for a true love to appear in their lives. In this day and age, pure, true romance leading to that kind of love is rare. Society has become permissive, and many young people have found bitter disappointment, regret and guilt in their relationships. Broken homes and increased divorce rates have brought much heartache. The values stemming from faith in God have become almost non-existent. It is these values of true love, commitment, patience, self-control, and trust in God and His leading that can make for true happiness and long-lasting relationships. This book is a work of fiction that portrays these values in a clean and wholesome way through romance, suspense, changes in lifestyle, and unpredictable outcomes in the experiences of believable characters. The reader will be irresistibly drawn into the lives of the individuals in the book as they begin new chapters, overcome difficult and sad circumstances, and make life-altering decisions. Following the characters in the story on their exciting journey of romance, love and faith will both entertain and inspire the reader.

  • av Norman A Thompson

"A gripping story of combat in WWII in France as seen through the eyes of Norm Thompson, an ordinary foot soldier. We are drawn into a view of the war that extends only to the range of Thompson's weapon. Cold and exhausted with no hot chow and the constant fear of the dreaded German artillery, he and others of the 42nd Rainbow Infantry Division valiantly defend their positions and ultimately defeat Hitler's last great offensive, Operation Nordwind. I highly recommend this book." --Brigadier General Paul Genereux (retired), Chairman, 42nd Rainbow Division Veteran's Foundation "Norman Thompson was an accomplished artist, both with paintbrushes and the written word. 'Kaltenhouse Remembered, ' now republished, recounts in chilling (January 1945) detail the shift southward of major units of the U.S. 7th Army from the Hatten-Rittershoffen battle sector to a new MLR (Main Line of Resistance) along the Moder River stretching from Haguenau to Kaltenhouse for the 242nd Regiment of the 42nd Rainbow Division. Norm's book vividly portrays the ordeals of the men of his rifle company (G Company, 242nd Infantry, 42nd Rainbow Division) during the 20 kilometer forced march from the Hatten-Rittershoffen area to the Moder River Line and Kaltenhouse, and the following victory against the enemy attack, Hitler's final major offensive in Western Europe. 'Kaltenhouse Remembered' is highly recommended for its authenticity and insight of a combat infantryman in battle." --Dee R. Eberhart, WWII Veteran, Co I, 242nd Infantry, 42nd Rainbow Division - Liberator, Dachau, 1945 First published in the 1980s, 'Kaltenhouse Remembered' is a factual account of the U.S. Army's 42nd Rainbow Infantry Division's operations in France during January 1945, where the Americans repulsed the final German offensive of the war on the Western Front. Written by infantryman Norm Thompson, the book provides a unique perspective on the battles that occurred at and in the vicinity of Kaltenhouse, France, that culminated with the American victory. The book also features an interview given by Thompson in 1995 that was not included in the original publication where Thompson describes in detail his part in the liberation of the Dachau-Allach concentration camps that occurred with the participation of the 42nd Infantry Division on April 29 and 30, 1945. This book is ideal for veterans, enthusiasts, and historians who will find this first-hand account of an astute observer a fascinating read that recounts one of the deadliest phases of WWII.

  • av Nick Ngazoire Nteireho

This book attempts to track the crinkum-crankum path that has been the hallmark of development in most Sub-Saharan countries since the Independence decade (1957-1967). The biggest misconception about Africa has always been treating the second largest land mass on the globe as one entity, with a monolithic culture. It couldn't be further from the truth. The author tries to steer the reader through an amalgam of issues that contributed to the diverging and meandering paths. The pioneers of African independence were every bit as brave and patriotic as those in other regions of the world. But they faced enormous odds against them while trying to wrest power from formidable oppressors whose armies they couldn't match. Despite many obstacles, they prevailed, and laid the course generations of their successors have followed since. Now, having secured these republics (if they can keep them), the bigger fight is to ensure that their people are well-fed, clothed, schooled, and kept in good health. This entails inclusive governance that guarantees that the lives of citizens are valued, resources are not squandered on oppressive instruments, or pilfered outside for the benefit of those who monopolize power. With vast natural and human resources yet to be harnessed, the African continent can push itself to a level that lifts its people out of nauseating poverty, allowing its leaders to proudly share a seat on the high table of development.

  • - 7 Pathways to a Successful Life
    av Reginald J Guy
    309,-

"You can live a successful life if you are prepared to work on you, because everything changes when you do." Reginald J. GuyCerebral Kick is based on Reginald's life journey, from being the most likely to fail of six children of an uneducated teenage mother, and the poorest excuse of a father imaginable, to being the only one of his siblings to obtain a university degree and becoming a global facilitator for multinational companies. Reginald travelled to more than thirty-five countries on five continents, including Azerbaijan, Australia, South Africa, Angola, Brazil, China, Great Britain, India, Oman, Libya, Algeria, Malta, Malaysia, Holland, USA and UAE to name a few.Cerebral Kick is intended to create a mental shift or give a figurative kick cerebrally in the mind of a reader. We get these kicks several times in our lives. It's that little voice we hear. It happens to all of us and can happen any time or place. Sometimes we act sometimes we don't. However, when we take action, apply discipline and become intentional, everything changes. It changes the way we see ourselves, value ourselves, communicate to others and ourselves, which transforms everything in and around us in unimaginable ways. When men first learnt to use the sun, moon and stars for navigation that was a game changer. I believe life is a journey and the universe has provided us with signs or "kicks", and if we learn to recognize and use them, they'll help us navigate this journey we call life. The principles contained in Cerebral Kick are emphasized by quotes from the Holy Bible and the Holy Quran, and influential figures generations apart such as Socrates, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Martin Luther King, Jr., Aristotle, Dalai Lama, Les Brown, Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar, Anthony Robbins and many more inspirational voices.Cerebral Kick is a testimony to the immutability of these principles. These 7 Pathways are lessons, all designed to get you moving from where you are to where you know you can be.Sometimes in life we get stuck and that's what we need, a kick to get us moving again, so we can get started working on our dreams, living our passion, fulfilling our purpose and living successful lives.
