A dazzling, interactive light display in a Renaissance courtyard connects the history of art with the age of technologyThe Dutch duo Lonneke Gordijn (born 1980) and Ralph Nauta (born 1978), working together as DRIFT, have gained an international reputation at the head of a multidisciplinary team of 64 artists and designers who create works able to transform and choreograph space. After interventions at Burning Man in the Nevada desert, NASA and the Victoria & Albert Museum, the duo proposes a performance in the courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi that is a breathtaking blend of art and technology. Fusing installation, sculpture and music, Shy Society turns the Renaissance courtyard into an enveloping stage, setting up a dialogue between nature and technology, knowledge and intuition, and science and poetry. The work is an invitation to look again at the historical context of the building as a new and evocative venue and setting, where each visitor becomes the protagonist of a multisensory experience that prompts a reconsideration of the space that surrounds us.

The most iconic trends and hottest topics in contemporary fashion, illustrated with designs from Gucci, Dior, Valentino and moreWhat makes an article of clothing iconic? While trends come and go, certain designs, red-carpet looks or everyday staples remain memorable for their technique, cultural significance or iconoclasm. Memorabile: Ipermoda zooms in on style from 2015 to 2025, examining the most prevalent trends and topics, including personal stylists and the question of authorship; sustainable design and the rise of "fast fashion"; and inclusive sizing. The catalog accompanying the exhibition is an atlas in which these theoretical questions are more deeply examined. It defines new words and concepts that have shaped sociopolitical outlooks on one of the world's largest industries. Dozens of designers are represented, including Prada, Balenciaga, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Dior, Valentino, Viktor & Rolf, Bottega Veneta and Thom Browne, together with up-and-coming designers such as Marco Rambaldi and Sunnei.

From Pucci's psychedelic patterns to Iuter's skate-inspired prints: how Italian designers have led innovations in textiles throughout the 20th centuryThe dynamic geometrical patterns of Emilio Pucci; the dazzling trompe-l'oeil effects of Roberta di Camerino; the pop sensibilities of Gianni Versace and Franco Moschino; the bold street-style prints of Iuter and Sunnei--these and countless other innovations have made Italian design a leading force in the history of 20th-century textiles. This volume documents the history of Italian textiles from the beginning of the 20th century through to the present day, exploring their evolution in relation to the dominant styles of various periods. This is a history deeply interwoven with the birth of the totemic "Made in Italy'' concept, as textiles have significantly contributed to Italy's international reputation as a bastion of high-quality fashion and design. Numerous Italian artists, fashion designers, product designers and companies have pioneered and popularized a vast range of manufacturing processes that incorporate local fabrics and innovative techniques.Featuring sumptuous illustrations of finished fabrics, preparatory drawings and photographs, Italian Textiles compiles the country's most notable design coups. Among the thematic sections in the book are those dedicated to scarfs, skirts, shirts, ties, wallpapers, tablecloths and various other fabricated objects.Designers include: Fede Cheti, Enrico Coveri, Roberta di Camerino, Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Lucio Fontana, Piero Fornasetti, Mariano Fortuny, Gucci, Iuter, Franco Moschino, Bruno Munari, Gio Ponti, Prada, Emilio Pucci, Ken Scott, Ettore Sottsass, Sunnei, Valentino and Versace.

"Antonio Canova today embodies the essence of Neoclassicism but was an absolute protagonist of world art at the turn of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Defined by his contemporaries as the "novello Fidia", his works are in the major collections of the world, from the United States to Russia. This book was born for the celebrations of the two hundred years since the death of the artist, occurred in Venice in 1822, and is proposed as an itinerary to guide the visitor to the discovery of the multiple artistic testimonies left by the sculptor, painter and architect in his region, the Veneto, to which he remained always attached. Possagno, Bassano del Grappa, Vicenza, Padua, Verona and Venice are rich in works preserved in museums, palaces and churches in the area. The Temple of Possagno was given by the artist to his native country while at the behest of his brother Giovanni Battista, after the death of Antonio, most of the works from the Roman atelier were transferred to Possagno and Bassano del Grappa. If to admire his marble sculptures you have to go around the world, just go to Possagno, to see gathered in one place over three hundred works of the artist (sculptures, drawings, engravings and paintings). The volume offers a permanent tour to discover the Venetian territory: in addition to the works, visitors are invited to discover the "Canovian places" particularly significant in the artist's life." -- From the publisher's website.
