Have you been thinking about becoming a Paralegal? You owe it to yourself to consider this Public Service Announcement first. The Recovering Paralegal provides an insider's look into the toxicity of law firms and why this dead-end job is bad for women. Utilizing nearly ten years of experience as a litigation paralegal split between more than one law firm, the Recovering Paralegal explains why the law firm is no place to wind up. "I want to get people talking about what it is really like to work in a law firm as a paralegal. Based upon countless talks with anonymous paralegals across the country, it is my opinion that my own experiences were not unique to me. What I speak of in the book is something that goes on in toxic law firms everywhere! Unfortunately, it is a sort of dirty secret that people just don't talk about for fear of losing their jobs. Not all paralegals (thankfully) get to work with both a self-proclaimed "Dirty Old Man" and a boss who barks at his staff every 7-9 minutes like a dog at the same time, but it seems that almost every single one is exposed to some sort of psychological torment, which always felt like abuse to me. Bullying is alive and well in the law office. I would like to shine a light on the psychological warfare that lawyers engage in with their own staff on a daily basis (some for fun to boost their own egos, others because they are so broken they don't know how else to communicate). I would like to warn those who are looking to enter the field and perhaps even provide some comic relief to those who are still working as paralegals. I wish someone would have written the truth before I entered the field. I certainly might have been swayed to consider another "career" option."The Author outlines all of the reasons why the law firm is a toxic place to work, provides a short quiz to help the reader determine if they have the personality traits necessary to survive inside the law office, and includes twenty-five exhibits to demonstrate the reality of law firm culture and what the daily work actually is. Those who are researching the paralegal "career" field - either as brand new people entering the work force or those who are looking for a second career, deserve a look behind the curtain. This "career" path is being sold to unwitting consumers as a viable choice with growth potential, and it is nothing but a dead-end job.

Operation Enduring Freedom (The war in Afghanistan): Letters written home by a U.S. Army Officer deployed to Afghanistan in 2011-2012. It tells a story of the day-to-day frustrations of building infrastructure for the rule-of-law; the dismal failures of the U.S. State Department, and of a bird feeder that seemed to be the only sane thing in the whole country. It also gives tribute to a military wife who carried the burden of three wars."Slowly, cut by cut, the Afghans bled us, and then smiled and called us their friend. This was all occurring while the folks back home were beaming at our accomplishments and our politicians were slowly binding our hands in order not to offend our new-found Afghan friends. We quickly became a willing victim of the Afghanistan Government's internal quagmire, where we naively rushed to squander our nation's youth and treasure on this undeserving nation. "2011 was one of the bloodiest years of the war with 415 U.S. Service Members killed and over 5,000 wounded. The letters in this book were written during this period and serve as a salute to those who sacrificed much to give the country of Afghanistan a fleeting chance at freedom and democracy. God bless all of them.

Silver City, part of the Comstock Lode, was replete with innovative ideas which were put into action and practice in this new mining community. The Comstock Lode made a worldwide impact in the mid 1800's. The mines produced thousands of tons of ore each day keeping over 263 mills quite busy with the process of milling and crushing the ore, recovering gold and silver. Known as the richest place on earth, the Comstock produced over $700,000,000.000, which would be valued at over $19 billion in today's market.Functioning from 1860 to 1959, the Donovan Mill in Silver City, is the longest operating plant on the Comstock, is only one of four mills remaining today, and is the largest historic stamp mill in the nation.

Not necessarily based on but coordinating with the book Somnium, seu opus posthumum De astronomia lunari by Johannes Kepler. Written in Latin in 1608, it purports to present a detailed imaginative description of how the Earth might look when viewed from the Moon. That's where any resemblance ends. This Somnium presents a detailed description of how the earth might look from sleep. How life might look from other perspectives. A cosmogony of dreamed proofs through which the author gets to occupy events of different perspectives from Borges, John Cale and Kepler to film noir, science fiction, prosperity gospel and other hidden appropriations. Somnium is composed of 137 episodes of 137 words (think physics not psychics....) the significance being that in physics 137 was once believed to be the exact value of the fine-structure constant, a number which, according to Leon Lederman, "shows up naked all over the place."

Has your child ever asked you, "How can I understand the questions and answers in the catechism?" My daughter frequently wonders, "What is God?" She finds the catechism challenging to comprehend without visual aids. It is the primary reason we published the illustrated edition of Westminster Shorter Catechism. Through these illustrations, children will gain a clearer understanding of Christianity's fundamentals and develop a keener interest in exploring God's truth.

The Way I Walk: The Music of Jack Scott tells how the Canadian-born son of an Italian immigrant grew up to become one of the leading rockabilly voices of the era and how he got lost in the shuffle as the music continued to evolve. As Scott racked up hit after hit, deejays flipped his records over and his B-sides also climbed the charts. During 1958, all six sides of his three singles scored in the top 100 with two of them being top ten and a third side topped out at number 11. Canada claims Scott as its "greatest rock and roll singer of all time," however, he was a Detroiter by the time his hits began rolling in. Other artists with far fewer recording achievements found their way into the R&R HOF, but Scott continues to be ignored. What in the World's Come Over You; Burning Bridges; Goodbye Baby; The Way I Walk; Go Wild Little Sadie; Leroy; Geraldine, My True Love, are but a few of his classic early rockers. You may not recognize his name but you certainly know his songs!

RSVP follows the book Save The Date, intentionally encourages a definitive response to God's Sabbath invitation as we are reminded to remember the Sabbath Day (ref Exodus 20:8) Christ advises that He alone is Lord of the Sabbath elevating our focus towards his ministry for mankind. (ref Matthew 12:8)The intent is to cast aside any doubt, removing the shadows that darken the heart and minds of those who acknowledge the Sabbath as a special day but do not comprehend the message and character of the Sabbath as it relates to God's salvific ministry for all mankind. Only God makes us Holy (ref Exodus 31:13)There are believers who are without knowledge or through their religious traditions embrace creationism and yet do not tie Jesus Christ to the Sabbath he so proudly kept and proclaimed himself to be Lord of. As a result, they offer a substitutionary day of worship. They are clinging to a pattern, that falsely or ignorantly worships God on a day he has never honored. They also do not comprehend the true message and character of Christ that is found within the Sabbath, nor do they recognize that the Lord of the Sabbath is our Sabbath.A true and authentic revival is needed among Christ's followers: One that is transformative and can only be fully realized by accepting the Sabbath invitation and as we experience God in His Sabbath. It's about time that we respond. It is about time the world sees God's people fully embrace this Gospel. They will be drawn to The Lord of The Sabbath."And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed." (Romans 13:11)
