In 'Nineteen Eighty-Four', George Orwell's prophetic novel about a future "world of lies", the author wrote about a device called the Memory Hole. It is used to alter any record, like a press report or a photograph, that no longer fits with the ever-changing policies of the Big Brother regime. Now imagine an historian trying to retrieve even a few of those records before they are doctored or destroyed. Would it be possible to reverse what Orwell described as a "process of continuous alteration" of the past?'Into the Memory Hole' is much more than a nostalgia trip. It is an attempt to re-evaluate our assumptions about human history, to rediscover the shocking truth about our own "world of lies".

What comes to mind when you think about femininity? Can men be feminine? Can lesbians be feminine? Why or why not?In what ways have you been "put down" because of your feminine traits, interests, or mannerisms? Is masculinity treated the same way as femininity in society? Is there a word for the way society treats femininity?Yes, there is! It's called FEMMEPHOBIA!While many see and feel the weight of how society treats femininity, we don't necessarily have the words to describe it. In this workbook, we introduce the concept of femmephobia to talk about how society devalues and controls femininity - whether it's femininity in women, men, or nonbinary people. Femmephobia is a prejudice we have all witnessed, participated in, and experienced - yet we never discuss it!This beautifully illustrated workbook sparks a much-needed conversation about the "social rules" that label femininity as somehow "less than" masculinity. It consists of information, examples, questions, and lots of personal reflection exercises that cover topics like examining our relationships to femininity; naming and examining assumptions we have about femininity; considering the consequences of "breaking the rules" of femininity; debunking myths about femininity; untangling femmephobia from misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia; identifying examples of femmephobia in our world; and challenging femmephobia through revaluing femininity. We are all born into a world of "gender rules," expectations, and assumptions. This workbook offers a starting point to begin questioning these rules and how they limit, restrict, and devalue femininity, helping readers value and embrace feminine diversity and understand the broader impact of femmephobia.

The 19th century saw a series of spiritual movements sweeping through the Isle of Skye as well as other Hebridean Islands. These were times of ferment and change as well as years of hunger, desperation and emigration. Out of a population of some 25,000 in Skye in 1842 - it is said that hardly a home was not affected by the spiritual movement taking place at the time. This was to have a transformation effect on the population, socially as well as spiritually and, as a result of large scale emigration, in other parts of the world, especially the Maritime Provinces of the Canadian Atlantic Coast. Smaller but significant movements have also occurred in more recent times, the last being in 1980.Much of the material here was published, in an abridged form, some 20 years ago in the book 'The Skye Revivals'. It has been out of print for some time. This new book includes over twice the volume of information contained in that book and is fully annotated.

Daniel Nie: Often I hear people say that their life was not going the way they wanted it to. I was not exceptional in this regard either. I remember at one particular point in my life, nothing was going my way at all. I was laid off, my newly started business was failing, my marriage was hanging on a thin string, my newborn daughter was very sick, and I was completely broke. However, I realized I was blessed with the inner power of "creativity." With this ability, I put myself together, and I started to build a new life, a successful life. We are so accustomed to looking at things (such as problems, stresses, and anxieties) in one way only. When we do this, we only see fragments of the whole picture and base our responses, actions, and decisions on our limited judgments. This faulty way of thinking and reasoning is often the main reason why our lives often do not go the way we plan, and our problems become more and more difficult to solve. But what if we can train our minds to change the way we think?
