Le personnage de M'âme Églantine a vu le jour presque par hasard.Depuis quelques années, je participe avec d'autres blogueurs, à l'écriture à plusieurs mains, d'un livre dont les bénéfices sont reversés en totalité à l'association Rêves, pour réaliser le rêve d'enfants malades. Notre amie blogueuse, initiatrice de ce projet, en 2015 nous a proposé comme thème de camper un personnage qui participerait au mariage de Marie et Clément: Le Mariage, Les Anthologies Éphémères .La page est restée blanche pendant un certain temps. Les personnages classiques qu'on retrouve dans toutes les noces ne m'inspiraient guère. Les jours passant, l'idée s'imposa pour celle qui n'était pas invitée et qui aurait forcément fort à dire et surtout à critiquer. Ma plume, pardon ma souris et mes doigts sur le clavier s'amusèrent beaucoup à créer ce personnage de M'âme Églantine. Parfois la honte me saisissait en découvrant cette médisance qui s'imposait dans mon écriture, sur toutes choses et en même temps je m'amusais beaucoup. Mes amis blogueurs me firent part de leur propre amusement à la découvrir. Alors, de l'imaginer dans d'autres situations il n'y a eut qu'un pas, que j'ai franchi allègrement. M'âme Églantine s'est faite en vieillissant une réputation de Madame Pisse Vinaigre. Il n'en avait pourtant, pas été toujours ainsi. Jeune fille élégante et joyeuse, courtisée, elle mena dans sa jeunesse, une vie heureuse dans ce gros bourg où tout le monde se connaissait et où on l'adorait. Vint le jour où elle partit pour la ville avec son mari venu dont on ne sait où. Bien des années passèrent sans que plus personne n'ait de ses nouvelles jusqu'au jour où le couple revint s'installer dans la maison héritée de ses parents. M'âme Églantine avait bien changée et son humeur souriante et de contact facile n'étaient plus qu'un lointain souvenir. On la découvrit ronchon passant son temps à critiquer tout et tout le monde. Dans un premier temps, ses anciennes amies essayèrent de comprendre d'où venait ce changement d'humeur mais elle refusa énergiquement d'ouvrir la porte de son coeur.

Volume I assesses the candidates' knowledge in cardiology, pulmonology, renal medicine (as well as acid-base balance, electrolytes disturbances, and urology), gastrointestinal medicine and hepatology, and finally neurology (as well as stroke medicine, medical ophthalmology, and psychiatry). Medicine is an ever-changing branch. The COVID-19 global crisis has reformatted our concepts and perspectives on the understanding of novel diseases and their treatment, including vaccinations. During the last decade, there has been a robust revolution in smartphones and the internet access industry, and accordingly, both have been reflected in the ways in which postgraduate trainees get their information and study. My previous books, "Get Through MRCP Part I; BOFs" (published by the Royal Society of Medicine Press in London, 2008), "Mock Papers for MRCPI part I, 2nd Edition" (published by Lulu Press, Inc., USA, 2016), and "Self-Assessment: 650 BOFs for MRCP(UK) and MRCP(I) Part I" (published by Lulu Press, Inc., USA, 2017) have already covered most of the classical examination scenarios and themes. Combined, they create a question bank of approximately 1600 questions. In writing this book, I have tried to focus on the most important updates in medicine that have been emerging during the past decade; novel diseases, novel investigations, and newly approved medications. Needless to say, COVID-19 and its SARS-CoV-2 will be encountered in each chapter, in addition to occupying a unique position in the chapter on infectious diseases. The other aspect that I think is very crucial to tackle is women's health and pregnancy. Once again, such a topic has been addressed in each and every chapter. There are no separate chapters for geriatrics, clinical sciences, and pharmacology (including therapeutics and toxicology); their questions have been distributed throughout the book's chapters. Each answer is followed by an explanation and a reference (source) and/or additional (further) reading.
