Foreword When the sky appears gray, and I see a rose suddenly emerge from the cracks of a wall...I don't say the sky is Gray, but I gaze at the rose and I say to it: what a beautiful day. These are the words of Palestinian Poet, Mahmoud Darwish, which always inspire me and guide me to the right path. Hope and optimism should always be on our minds. I met Ziyad Khadaash many years ago and I fell in love with his stories and I have read all of his books and enjoyed them. His storytelling approach is brilliant and creative and his stories should reach a wider audience. This is what led me to offer to translate one of his books. This book "Our Wounds Tell Who We Are" is full of Palestinian real stories that I and the majority of Palestinian can relate to. I had the pleasure of translating them despite the linguist and cultural challenges. I hope I was successful in bridging the cap and transferring the creative ideas present in these stories to new audiences. I started this note with words from Mahmoud Darwish and I am a believer that Ziyad is our next Darwish. Fayeq OweisTranslator

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE MADE A GOD FOR A DAY, is a book that depicts the essence and power of God's love by blending fictional characters into Biblical truth. It points out what the fundamental role of the church in modem society should be. In other words, instead of condemning others by being judgmental in our self-righteousness, we can just demonstrate the love of God from our hearts, and do the most good to our fellow human beings. This book unequivocally reveals the common errors in today's church and how "the body of Christ" (the Church) has traded its basic responsibility for materialism, money, and fame; thus, leaving the members languishing in the sea of doubt, bemusement, manipulation, lies, insecurity, and deception. As a result, the faithful are gradually turning away from the truth to find solace outside of the church, seeking answers in man's philosophies and other religions.WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE MADE A GOD FOR A DAY, brings us back to the basics and teaches the true meaning of the Christian faith as it relates to the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ (Yehoshua), especially as it is written in Matthew 25: 31-46 respectively.

Lawrence Dewan OP (1932-2015) graced the world of scholarship with the impressive lucidity, depth, and comprehensiveness of his research on the philosophy and theology of St Thomas Aquinas. A long-time professor at the Collège Universitaire Dominicain in Ottawa and a member of the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas, his hundreds of articles and reviews brought him international renown as a foremost authority on metaphysics, natural philosophy, and ethics as well as on aspects of the work of John Capreolus, Albert the Great, Etienne Gilson, and Jacques Maritain.Prompted by the honoree's seventy-fifth birthday in March 2007, Wisdom's Apprentice gathers the work of twelve distinguished scholars who pay grateful homage to their friend and mentor. Part I engages fundamental metaphysical issues, Jan Aertsen writing on truth as a transcendental, Stephen Brock and David Twetten on the doctrine of being, and J. L. A. West on supposit and nature. Part II contains essays on natural theology, with Ralph McInerny and Leslie Armour posing questions on the rational basis of man's knowledge of God and Gregory Doolan showing how deliberately Aquinas integrates divine ideas into his doctrine of God. In Part III natural philosophy comes to the fore: Christopher Decaen expounds the impossibility of action at a distance, Jude Dougherty the relationship between physics and philosophy, and Ralph Nelson the influence of Bergson on an important difference between Gilson and Maritain. The two authors of Part IV address the world of man; Kevin Flannery argues that for Aristotle no less than for Aquinas acts can be good or bad in their very species and Heather McAdam Erb unfolds Aquinas's views on interior peace, the foretaste of eternal life. The volume is rounded off with an introduction to and short biography of Fr. Dewan by Peter Kwasniewski, together with a bibliography of his work.

This witch doctor's adventure is just beginning! In Witches Garden, readers will be transported to a world of magic and mystery, following the story of the witch doctor and her granddaughter. The witch doctor is a wise and powerful woman who runs her potion shop with the help of her pet cat and "invisible" lizard. But when her screaming strawberries go missing, and her granddaughter is studying abroad, she must find the culprit alone. Along the way, she meets various colorful characters, including a half-witch, half-plant. Will the witch doctor be able to find her missing strawberries and create enough ghoul flu potion for winter? Witches Garden is a fun book with elements of a modern fairy tale and unique details that make it memorable. The story is unpredictable and has mystery, suspense, and adventure. Laurel Lorenzini introduces readers to a magical place with familiar creatures, where they trade in wish clams, spells, and charms and have a delivery company. It is all creative, and learning about the residents and their daily troubles was entertaining. Mags is missing her granddaughter Bo, who has traveled for school, and her daughter Miriam, who disappeared. Her being overwhelmed with the work in her store made her a likable and familiar everyday person you might bump into on the street. The book has beautiful art that visually narrates the story and makes the book colorful and eye-catching. Children will be attracted to the colors and love seeing all the amazing characters and enchanted locations. I loved reading this book and recommend adding it to your children's book collection. - Reviewed by Doreen Chombu for Readers' Favorite (5-star review) The tone is playful with great attention to detail that Laurel Lorenzini uses to bring this eccentric world to life. From the quirky names of plants (booberry) to the different creatures, every detail works toward establishing the Halloween aesthetic of the town. Children will enjoy the different characters and will love getting to know Bill the Vampire, Haggle Tooth, and Clevis the Werewolf. Through these characters, you're able to see the importance that Mags has in the town and how she uses her garden to help people. Some also provide humor in the story such as a werewolf with a toothache, which will no doubt make children laugh. The illustrations are vivid, bright, and cheery images that fit the tone of the world that Lorenzini has created. These pair well with the zaniness of the characters and provide lovely peeks into the town such as Mags' shop, the different beings, and her role. Witches Garden is a charming children's chapter book that serves as a great foray into reading with a story that is lighthearted, quirky, and charming. - Reviewed by Liz Konkel for Readers' Favorite (5-star review) Laurel Lorenzini has created lovable and quirky characters. Witches and vampires, some of the beings that usually scare children, are given more helpful and cooperative roles in their community, reflecting more likable qualities. The illustrations by Gabriel San Martin pop off the pages and give more life to each part of the story. The narration is fast-paced, and a reader who is familiar with short chapter books will love learning about the harmonious atmosphere in Green Mist Bay. Readers will see examples of friendship, respect, releasing worry, and forgiveness throughout the pages, and the author leaves plenty of room for a series to develop. In the story, readers will learn who is stealing the screaming strawberries, but the mystery of Mags's daughter's disappearance is a subject Lorenzini can explore in another book. Children who enjoy tales about supernatural beings with a hint of mystery will like Witches Garden. - Reviewed by Courtnee Turner Hoyle for Readers' Favorite (5-star review)

Disney is a force of formative power in contemporary pop culture, which underscores the worth of engaging it apologetically. Walt Disney became a pioneer in twentieth-century musical animation and animated features, and an exemplar for using a nonsectarian canon of narratives in order to argue, subtly, for an objective moral truth and goodness that will overcome all evil, and the beauty of a kingdom inhabited by virtuous characters. Pop-culture narratives (like Disney films) possess a power to make abstract ideas more accessible. We do not so easily feel propositions, and so we do not necessarily feel the force of an abstract argument. A good story, on the other hand, like good music (and Disney gives us both), has more direct power to move us. This duology-two works in one-considers how Disney stories are enfolded by Christian moral theology. The first book explores how Disney can serve as an effective aid in cultural apologetics and moral dialogue. The second work, an edited volume featuring a number of scholars from differing backgrounds, investigates the power of imaginative storytelling, explores Disney's live-action animation and musical allure through the lens of aesthetics apologetics, and approaches a number of popular Disney narratives in order to draw out the moral and theological significance of these beloved Disney tales. "Enter into a serious examination of the whimsical worlds created by the kingdom of Disney through the eyes of those inhabiting a Kingdom centered in another world-the Kingdom of Christ. You will discover why Disney's moral logic of good and evil, darkness and light, move us toward affirming goodness and justice."-Annalee Ward, Director of the Wendt Center for Character Education and author of Mouse Morality: the Rhetoric of Disney Animated Films Disney as Doorway to Apologetic Dialogue is "a valuable resource to show how Disney films provide not only illuminating insights and inspiration for our children and our congregations; they also serve as bridges for the gospel in a world of people longing to find their true identity and true home and to see fulfilled their deepest desires to 'live happily ever after.'"-Paul Copan, Pledger Family Chair of Philosophy and Ethics, Palm Beach Atlantic University (Florida), and author of The Gospel in the Marketplace of Ideas and Is God a Vindictive Bully? Disney & the Moral Imagination "strikes just the right balance between academic and popular, scholarly and accessible.... It has much of value to say on the nature and power of music, virtue, beauty, imagination, and hope. What are the Ashes Crying For?In Auschwitz, Treblinka, Sobibor, Majdanek, Babi Yar, Ukraine, and in many more locations, the blood of the Jewish people was either spilled or became ashes. This blood and these ashes went into the ground wherever they fell. But the soil never remains in one place; it migrates with the winds, rain, geological activity, and the passing of the years. These ashes, now mingled with the soil, have been scattered all over the world, bringing the essence of their poignant cry into your world, church, community, city, and nation. About what did the blood of Abel cry out to the creator? About what are the blood and ashes of the Jews exterminated during the Shoah (Nazi Holocaust), Russian pogroms, the Spanish Inquisition, Christian crusades, Islamic terror, and much more crying to the God of the universe? And why should it matter to you, the reader? This is what you will find out in the pages of this book.

Historically, the term "catechism" did not refer to a particular type of book but to a collection of traditional formulations of the basic teachings of the Christian faith. At the time of the Reformation, Martin Luther's concern for the spiritual wellbeing of the laity prompted him to reorganize that material with a new sequence: first the law as summarized by the Ten Commandments, then the gospel as summarized by the Apostles' Creed, and finally discipleship as summarized by the Lord's Prayer and the biblical passages pertaining to Holy Baptism, confession, and the Sacrament of the Altar. His accompanying explanations constitute the Small and Large Catechisms, presenting each part "as the housefather should teach it in a simple way to his household." This resource facilitates such usage by arranging Luther's texts in parallel as a six-month daily devotional, with each pair of readings accompanied by a few questions for reflection and a brief prayer.
