This book is the result of a writing challenge which was recommended to me by a good friend and colleague. The challenge was to compose 21 poems over 21 days however, this was merely a guideline and the objective was simply to have 21 poems complete by the due date for publishing. Three of the poems included- 'An Expedient Sermon on Time', 'Dancing with Appearances' and Just a Moment Away' were the only poems I had written before the 21 day writing period. I thought that they would be nice additions given the theme of the book. The inspiration and theme of the 21 poems contained in this book is none other than the mind.

""To the Moon, and to Saturn, and Everything in Between is about how, as children, imagination and dreams are ripped from us, taking parts of our identity with them. You are taken along on the journey of a girl named Sevynn, who takes a trip to Saturn to find that piece of herself she is missing. I have a question for you to ponder... Who were you before society told you were wrong and how different would your life be if you were still that person?""

The poems in this book explore life in its various aspects- both positive and negative. The poet feels an irresistible urge to depict life as it is. As the pleasing moments and experiences of life have a fascinating charm, so are there failures and hypocrisies with their depressing effects upon us. Life, in order to be enjoyed fully, must be accepted in all its multi-coloured variety. Some of the poems have turned towards an exploration of the function of poems and the nature of the poet. Some poems, again, advocate the thought that happiness and peace depend not on external circumstances but on one's mind and a sense of acceptance.

These are love poems, albeit often nontraditional ones. Sometimes they are romantic poems. Other times turned inward and about self-love. Still more times about society. But always about life, experience, and growth. Real love reveals a generous, brave, and honest critique that creates a grace so fierce.

For as long as I can remember, I've been a storyteller. From the made up stories I told my siblings at bedtime, the imaginary play I would do with my preschool students, to experimenting with writing short stories as a teenager. As I got older I became influenced by a lot of artists: Taylor Swift, Lana del Rey, the Beatles, Lorde, and so many others. I loved the way these artists expressed themselves and poured their personal experience into beautiful songs. This inspired me to write down my own feelings into poetry. It became a way of therapy for me. The titles of these poems can be either in relation to the person they are about, or what I was feeling at the time. A moment captured. With the sudden loss of my brother two years ago I wanted to use my poems as a way of helping others. If someone can relate to my poems in some way and if it helps them, I will consider myself a great success.

Modern Child's Prayer speaks to Little's experiences growing up to be "perfect". The poems walk through the change in lifestyles from being a child with little worries to facing the weight of adolescence. As technology grows the similarities to previous generations of teenagers are few and far between. It's a search for simpler times. It's a search for memories. It's a search for ourselves while following dreams.
