Hiraeth is a Welsh word which describes a certain, almost ineffable, feeling. A feeling of homesickness, of nostalgia, of the most visceral longing -- a feeling so desolate that, somehow, it becomes a comfort. This collection orbits around the concept of home and the complexities of finding it. How sometimes home is something irretrievable, something that you can never return to. And how, sometimes, home gets right into your bones. These poems were written all over the world, in various stages of love and grief and restlessness. These poems, when put together, tell the story of a person drawn to placelessness who cannot help but wonder what home exists for her, and how she can take it with her when the frame is swept out to sea.

I'm considered to be an open book. This is proof that I'm not as forthcoming as I seem. I'm always hiding what goes on in my mind. Sometimes saying them out loud is hard. That's when a pen and paper comes in handy. This is an introduction to another voice that not many know about. I'm not afraid to be vulnerable. After all, vulnerability is not a weakness.

""This is a book of poetry about mental illness and recovery; despair and hope. It explores both the highs and lows of mental illness in it's most monstrous form, but the writing of these has allowed the flower of recovery to bloom. Please note some poems contain themes of mental illness such as self harm, eating disorders and suicide, so please keep this in mind if you might find the themes triggering.""

""Have you ever been triggered and started daydreaming where you keep re-living the scene over and over. Well, that was me, I have been stuck for a decade. More and more things appear from my past that I just wanted to get out of my head. Now I have. As a child my life was terrible. Not all terrible, but some of things were. Those are the things I can't let go of.One day I was in church and was wondering why do I pick terrible men? Why do I make these decisions? Why am I the way I am? Why was I silent and never told my parents? Why?My pastor sat me down and started to ask me about my childhood. When I tell you I suppressed everything from my childhood it was crazy. I am 36 years old, and this was about 13 years ago where everything re-surfaced and now I am livid. Trigger after trigger, I remember more and more. I just wanted to write it down, so I can move on. Certain times while writing I would cry, buy a bottle of wine and just cry. Pitiful! When that wouldn't work, I wrote funny poems; which helped. These poems aren't perfect as this is my first time writing but I am proud that I tried. I am trying to heal from my mistakes, childhood, just everything.""

We live in a multi-dimensional world that exists to serve different people, in different ways. Some believe that this is just because, but for me, I believe everything and everyone has a purpose and that it is our mandate to bring it to fruition. On this beautiful journey of life, the picture or lens we form is one that is always changing but nonetheless one that is filled with the richness of experience that should be remembered, captured, and shared, in due time. This timely collection of thoughts speaks of the times we live in; touching on identity, growth, culture, morality, love and much more. I have been mandated to write you back to book.

""Well, here we are. I initially thought that I would have used a lot of my previously written song lyrics to fill the majority of the content of this book, but I found myself dissatisfied with nearly all of them, bar one, which did make it in, though I'm not saying which it is, but please feel free to guess. The title was the first thing I came up with, I felt it gave me free reign to go with and explore any idea that came to mind, which was a great psychological help, and the main idea was to put pen to paper about events and experiences that have stayed with me, that play on the mind, although I deviate from this every so often with the odd Zen poem or thematic piece, just for a change of pace. There's even a bit of a nonsense poem in there. I tried to space out the darker poems, and mix up the genres/rhyming schemes, sometimes even within the same poem, and as such, the whole book is all over the place, a bit of a patchwork, a bit chaotic, a bit like myself. So please, read on and enjoy one mans struggle with life, love and destiny, and thank you for your consideration and time.""
