Why a book about Hindu Power, you may ask? Firstly, as I will explain at length all along, Hindu power is absolutely secular in essence, as Hindus have always accepted the diversity of the Divine and thus every persecuted religion found refuge in India, from the Jews to the Parsis, from the Armenians to the Tibetans today. Secondly, it has been a one-way traffic and Hindus have been at the receiving end of Islamic violence and Christian missionaries to convert them-and this is why Hindus MUST take power-and keep it. Thirdly, I am one of the few Western journalists and writers to defend Hindus because I think that they are the holders of the last Knowledge that can save the World: 'who am I, why live, what is death, what is an avatar, what is karma, what is dharma,' etc.

Contrary to Cynics, a lot has been achieved in India since independence, especially in the last 30 years. Yes, the view that India should have grown faster like several other countries is a valid point. However to dismiss all what has been achieved by different governments is grossly unfair . India is presently the fastest growing economy whose GDP is at the striking distance of US$ 3 trillion. It's tipped to become the 3rd largest economy in the world in the next 30 years. With 1.3 billion people chatting on as many cell phones, bursting with aspirations and expectations, India can't be wished away. The book offers kaleidoscopic perspectives of maturing of democracy in a bewilderingly diverse India, fault lines of governance, urbanisation, trade and industry, energy security, environmental challenges, national security, internal security and menace of terrorism, defence preparedness, future of India-US relations and the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. This collection offers a dispassionate discourse; it highlights what deserves to be applauded and doesn't shy away from calling a spade a spade, if needed. A must read for those who want to figure out where India is heading to.

Most people are unaware of the workings of India's Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the world's largest non-governmental organization with a membership of nine million, its immense contribution to India and beyond. RSS is a unique organization built on the model of selfless service by the people, does not believe in publicising its good work and positively impacts people's lives, cutting across caste, socio-economic status and religion in the true Hindu spirit of Sewa or service. An enduring political and media bias against the RSS right since India's Independence, has led to many untruths presented to the people as facts over several decades. The immense sacrifice of the unsung heroes-the RSS swayamsevaks-right since its inception in 1925, is a testament to its mission and commitment. Without diluting its core vision of a strong India and preserving the nation's Hindu cultural identity, as is befitting to the most ancient civilization in the world, the RSS is flexible and adapts to the needs of society. This book attempts, in the simplest manner possible, to take the reader through the RSS as a unique Indian organization, clear the fog of mistruths that are seen as facts, and explain how the excellent work done through RSS and its various affiliate organizations binds India together as a nation.

This book is written with the objective of demystifying for Indians, China and its decision making processes. The author believes that India and China should be in strategic partnership. The People's Republic of China (PRC), was founded on October 1, 1949, that is, more than two years after the creation of independent India in 1947. Both nations have had cultural ties over several millennia but the period after 1949 has seen distinct challenge leading to possible nuclear confrontation and both countries competing in accelerating their economic development. Both nations being today the two most populous and fastest growing economies in the world are of extreme importance in the emerging new global order. This book attempts to analyze the progression of the diplomatic, military and economic relations between these two nations, and ascertain the likely future of the relationship, as well as propose the framework of productive, mutually beneficial and harmonious relations between China and India.

Every sixth person on this Planet is a Hindu and Hindus still constitute the overwhelming majority in India - nearly 80 per cent of the population. Humanity needs thus to re-discover the wonder that is Hinduism, the oldest spirituality still in practice in the world. Hindus have been the most tolerant people on this planet, accepting the fact that the Divine manifests Himself or Herself at different times of the history of humanity using different names and different scriptures. This is why Hindus have always welcomed in their midst all the persecuted religious minorities of the world - from the Syrian Christians, the Jews (India is the only country in the world where Jews were never persecuted), from the Parsis to the Tibetans today. In 5,000 years of existence, Hindus have never militarily invaded another country, never tried to impose their religion on others by force or induced conversions, contrary to Islam and Christianity. You cannot find anybody less fundamentalist than a Hindu in the twenty-first century. Yet it has been one-way traffic, as Hindus have been the most persecuted people. In fact, in terms of genocide, there is no greater holocaust than that of the Hindus - it has been estimated than more than a hundred million Hindus have been killed from the Hindu Kush, till today. This book is then about the story of the Hindus, their scriptures, their history, the bloody invasions that they faced over the centuries and the menaces that still threaten their very survival.
