The development and evaluation of a nanovesicular transdermal formulation of asenapine maleate, with the specific goal of targeting the brain. Asenapine maleate is a medication used for the treatment of certain neurological disorders, and the research aims to enhance its delivery to the brain through a novel transdermal approach.Nanovesicular transdermal formulations offer a promising means of drug delivery, as they can bypass the blood-brain barrier and directly target the brain tissues. This study involves the design and optimization of nanovesicular carriers to encapsulate asenapine maleate, enabling its efficient transport through the skin and into the brain.Researchers conduct thorough evaluations to assess the stability, drug release kinetics, and skin permeation capabilities of the nanovesicular formulation. Additionally, they investigate its safety and efficacy in animal models or potentially in clinical trials, exploring its potential for use as a non-invasive and patient-friendly alternative to conventional drug delivery methods.By successfully developing a nanovesicular transdermal formulation of asenapine maleate for brain targeting, this research could pave the way for significant advancements in treating neurological disorders. The findings have the potential to revolutionize drug delivery strategies, offering a more effective and convenient treatment approach for patients in need of brain-specific medications.

"A gripping cautionary tale about the dangers of mainstreaming fringe ideas before turning them into federal policy, We Want Them Infected is damning, indispensable, and one-of-a-kind. It is likely to become canonical." Christopher LaneWriter on Side Effects @PsychTodayMember, Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities>Praise For We Want Them InfectedOne of the untold stories of the COVID pandemic in the US is the role of medical and public health professionals in spreading disinformation, pushing for policies that exacerbate the virus' spread, and drive people away from important interventions, particularly vaccines, which blunt the deadly effects of SARSCOV2. Because of professional courtesy, solidarity or just sheer cowardice, many inside the professions have refused to take on these frauds, egomaniacs, purveyors of sickness and suffering in white coats. Jonathan Howard's book We Want Them Infected, though, names names. In painstaking detail, he builds an indictment of these men and women who have blood on their hands, abusing the trust of millions to peddle lies and falsehoods. This book is one for the ages, making it hard to sweep the complicity of these individuals with the virus under the carpet, leaving a record for the future, a cautionary tale for all of us.Gregg Gonsalves, PhDAssociate Professor, Yale School of Public HealthAssociate Professor (adjunct), Yale Law SchoolThe legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic will haunt our nation (United States) for many years. This is true not only because of the horrific toll of more than one million American deaths, and those who lost loved ones, but also several failed public health policies that contributed to America's suffering. In "We Want Them Infected" Dr. Howard tells a dark story of how spurious concepts of herd immunity may have contributed to the spread of COVID-19 in the United States (and perhaps globally). His book provides important information about how we might limit the death and destruction of future virus pandemics.Dr. Peter Hotez, MD, PhD, DSc (hon), FASTMH, FAAPTexas Children's Hospital: Endowed Chair of Tropical Pediatrics Co-Director, Texas Children's Hospital Center for Vaccine Development Baylor College of Medicine: Dean, National School of Tropical Medicine Professor, Departments of Pediatrics, Molecular Virology & Microbiology Health Policy Scholar Rice University, Baker Institute Fellow in Disease & Poverty, Texas A&M University, Faculty-Senior Fellow, Hagler Inst for Advanced Study & Scowcroft Institute of Intl Affairs

An intriguing story of how even for the smallest family the effects of war can cause lasting havoc. In the midst of gruelling circumstances, all that survivors can do is try to make their way in life as best they can. Persecution, forced migration and tragic end-time brought about by the holocaust has distorted the lives of the generation that followed. They and their children bear the scars of Antisemitism that still is, and always has been, an inescapable issue of world history. This personal story goes from the universality of the horror of war to the particular experience of a damaged couple struggling for survival in a free host country. It illustrates human capacity to survive and how the author overcame a dislocated past to reach out for a better future.

On 21 May 1941, Ian Fleming of Naval Intelligence lunches with Aleister Crowley in Mayfair. Crowley has offered to interview Rudolf Hess, who has been captured near Dungavel, the Duke of Hamilton's Scottish estate, eleven days before. Their shared affinity for the occult will enable the Beast to draw out the German's secrets. Fleming agrees and gives the Beast the 1939-41 diary of Albrecht Haushofer, Hess's principal adviser. This gives the background to the deputy führer's flight and describes the involvement of Karl Ernst Krafft, a Swiss astrologer, who has an uncanny knack of making accurate predictions. On 1 February 1945, Crowley moves to Netherwood, a boarding house in Hastings. Will, the teenage handyman, intends to become a Catholic priest but is distracted by a maid called Maria. Crowley tutors him in Latin. Left alone in Crowley's room, Will stumbles on a file that describes the Beast's wartime encounter with Hess. It is called the 'Z' File, 'Z' being Hess's codename. Crowley has capitalised on his resemblance to Churchill and deceived Hess into believing he is the prime minister. Hess reveals the date of the attack on Russia.Several visitors come to Netherwood to see the Beast: Dion Fortune; Frieda Lady Harris, creator of the Thoth Tarot paintings; a female Oxford professor researching a book on the characteristics of a magician; John Symonds, his future biographer; and a pupil of Crowley called Maxwell Knight. Knight is, in fact, the spymaster 'M' who runs a division of MI5.A Hungarian professor and his wife come to stay at Netherwood. They are Soviet agents hunting the 'Z' File as Stalin believes it proves collusion between British Intelligence, Churchill, and Hess. Will is the victim of a honeytrap and agrees to fetch it. He discloses the plot to 'M'. At the handover on the coast, commandos ambush and kill the Hungarian couple. In disgust, Will renounces the idea of becoming a priest.Crowley dies at Netherwood on 1 December 1947. Will finds a silk handkerchief under his deathbed inscribed with a map of Dungavel and Hess's alias. Will learns from 'M' that Crowley has sent the 'Z' File to Jack Parsons, an American disciple and rocket scientist. Will visits him and his wife Cameron in Pasadena in 1952. He and Jack perform an Enochian ritual in the desert. Ten days later Parsons blows himself up before he can give Will the file as promised. In May Knight invites Will to his suburban house. Will goes intending to use the silk map to challenge Knight's assertion the 'Z' File is a fake. While there, Will accidentally comes across a photo taken at Dungavel on the night Hess was supposed to arrive. Reluctantly, 'M' reveals what really happened and the true identities of Hess's reception committee.

In the waning months of World War II, a Soviet regiment entered Auschwitz-Birkenau, Adolph Hitler's infamous concentration camp, and found seven thousand prisoners on the brink of death from illness and starvation. Among them were three young girls from a town in central Poland called Tomaszow Mazowiecki. Before being deported to Auschwitz, Tova Friedman, Rachel Hyams and Frieda Tenenbaum had already survived the Jewish ghetto in their town and two slave labor camps. Now, thanks to their Soviet liberators, they survived the Kinderlager, the children's barracks at Auschwitz that were nothing more than a holding area for the gas chambers. When the regiment's commander, Marshal Ivan Koneff, discovered the children--their limbs thin as toothpicks, most of them unable to walk--he broke down and wept. The date was January 27, 1945. Tova was 6, Rachel 7, and Frieda 10. A quarter century ago, on the 50th anniversary of their liberation, Tova, Rachel and Frieda first told the world about their Auschwitz ordeal. Today, on the 75th anniversary of their liberation, they tell their stories again--although Rachel, who died in 2008, can no longer tell her story in person. It is to her, along with the million-and-a-half children who died in the Holocaust, that we dedicate this edition of Surviving Auschwitz.
