    av Terri Johnson
    239,-

The death of a child is one of the deepest traumas known. When a child commits suicide, the trauma strikes deeper because of the guilt, social stigma and unanswered questions associated with suicide. How did everyone miss the signs of this child's emotional turmoil? Why did this happen? There is no right way to grieve the death of a loved one.The Write Way to Grieve tells the story of one mother's journey through grief in the years that followed her fourteen-year-old son Ryan's suicide. Author Terri Johnson's journal of poetry, prose, and pain reveals the steps and setbacks in her journey. The discovery of Ryan's journal at school empowered her to find the truth in what happened and what might have happened if the journal had been treated differently. The Write Way to Grieve is one mother's answer to her son's cry for help. Suicide should never be the answer. Terri Johnson wrote from her experience to inform others of suicide awareness, prevention and intervention so Ryan's death would not be in vain.

"The Man". Not just any man, but someone who has touched lives from the beginning of time. This is the story we are commanded to take to the world, and why. That is why I felt it was important to make it on a children's level. The sooner we can get them to know Him from whom our blessings flow, the sooner they can start to live and glorify God in this life and the next.

  • - The Fruits the Gifts and the Charisms of the Holy Spirit
    av Clairann Nicklin
    325,-

This book was written to help me understand what the "fruits and the gifts of the Holy Spirit" are and what they were supposed to mean to me, and how to use them in my life. The more that I discovered and shared with others, the more that I understood that I was to share this knowledge with all who have this same hunger. The "fruits of the Holy Spirit" given to us as a grace from God in our baptism are what molds us into the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26). The "fruits" are the personality of Jesus when He lived on earth. Jesus gives us the example-with His very life!It is important for us to be fruitful and multiply physically for life to carry on, but it is spiritual fruitfulness that will change the world! We each have an intricate role to fill-whether single, married, laity, religious, man, woman, child, adult-God created each of us for a specific purpose. And He gives us the tools to do our work! They are the gifts of the Holy Spirit that are listed in (Isaiah11:2-3).The most known charismatic gifts are listed in (1 Corinthians chapters 12-14), but this is not all there is. "To each one is given a manifestation of the spirit for the common good" (1 Corinthians 12:7). When we use a charism to help another person, our Isaiah "gifts" come forward within us, and as that happens the fruits of the Holy Spirit pour out of us as a grace from God, that is how we share the love of God with another. God doesn't make cookie cutter Christians! He tailor-makes each individual for a special ministry to help our Church grow! Can you believe it? God wants us to fulfill a portion of His plan designed to bring all people to eternity with Him!Writing this book has helped me understand the simplicity of how the fruits, gifts, and charisms work together to build up the kingdom of God.

An inspiring tale of life, love, and loyalty, Whisper recounts our fall off the mountain, the struggle to survive, and the sacrifices of those who search and rescue. A relaxing trail ride in the mountains with friends turns desperate suddenly when the trail edge crumbles and my horse, Whisper, tumbles off the side. The pitch is perilously steep and covered with snow, large rocks, and downed trees with broken branches. As our situation worsens and I must ask Whisper to do impossible things, his iron will and unshakable loyalty reveal the true strength of a bond that has been years in the making. As miracles unfold, I see it's no accident I have this horse … on this ride . . . in this dire situation.Everything happens for a reason, and the story of Whisper began long before this ordeal. Flashback chapters tell how I bought a scared and skinny old horse that nobody wanted because he "whispered" in my ear, the both funny and frustrating struggles to overcome his fears and establish trust, and the staggering reward of his loyalty at any cost.

Mickey Brinkley chose the title for this book Creation, The Flood, End Times because these were and are the most dramatic events in mankind's past and future. The birth, life, and death of Christ is a very important part of our lives, but that event basically just affected those who believe in Him. The events listed in this title have and will affect everyone, believers and nonbelievers. I believe the end is at our door.According to Matthew 24, the time of expected lifetime will be up for the generation living when the Jews came back to Jerusalem in 1948, which will be up in 2018. Jesus said this generation would not pass away until all things were fulfilled. See Psalms 90:10 for the expected lifetime.Mickey is currently in the process of writing a new book, stay tuned.

A PRINCIPAL'S TALE, at turns is personal and humorous, insightful and engaging. A PRINCIPAL'S TALE democratizes the public school administration conversation and offers insight and wisdom to anyone who wishes to show up more authentically, effectively, and ultimately powerfully in today's challenging education world.More personal in tone than traditional educational books, A PRINCIPAL'S TALE acknowledges that leadership requires risk and commitment, and the greatest risk of all is discovered as we learn how to educate our own way and lead with impact in today's ever-shifting educational world. My personal stories in the office to the classroom will shine at times personal and at times a humorous look into the everyday life of a principal. Written on a daily basis, similar to a diary or journal entry, the book details thirty-one days in the life of an urban school principal, painting a true picture of the professional, emotional, and personal experiences of those who lead a school and a family of educators and learners.

  • - The House That Became a Bridge
    av Jan Morgan
    275,-

There may still be time for a despondent, mysterious old house with tiny pineapples carved on its eaves to fulfill the dream of one of its owners over seventy years ago. But in order for that to happen, two retired ladies, one black and one white, must unravel the mystery that surrounds both the house and the children who have come to believe it belongs to them. It's these children, living in the apartment complex across from Blessing Path, that most need the puzzle solved because the "For Sale" sign just placed amid the weeds in the front yard seems ominous to them. The clues include old newspaper clippings, a policeman's chance meeting with a soft-spoken genteel visitor, love letters during World War II, and a mason jar, recently excavated from the backyard that is filled with exquisite patterned shells of the sea, long protected by its rusty cap. Together, these pieces of information draw the ladies from the heart of Texas to the sparkling South Carolina coast and deep into the culture of Charleston and its Gullah heritage.Sweet Grass Memories was built on Texas soil, but if you cross her threshold and wait quietly for a few moments, you might just catch a whiff of pluff mud and taste the saltiness of sea air.

In the 1940s, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was at the epicenter of the film world. Clark Gable, Ava Gardner, Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, and Elizabeth Taylor were only a few of the many stars under contract at the studio. The author, Claude Jarman Jr., takes us from his discovery in a small school in Nashville, Tennessee, through his life among the movie elite. After receiving a special Academy Award for his performance in The Yearling in 1946, he remained at MGM until 1950 when the arrival of television savaged the studio and the star system. He appeared in ten additional films, including playing the son of John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara in John Ford's epic western Rio Grande and Intruder in the Dust, a story of racial strife in Mississippi based on a novel by William Faulkner. After retiring from films in 1956 at the age of twenty-one, he returned to the movie world in 1965 as the director of the San Francisco International Film Festival which reunited him with famous legends in the film industry.

  • - The Sower Soweth the Word
    av James W Roan
    239,-

In the Gospel of Mark, the fourth chapter, Jesus asked two questions that should have stopped us in our tracks. However, for years I read right past this without a second thought. Jesus asked his disciples the following questions when they wanted an explanation about the parable of the sower. "Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?"It was as if Jesus said STOP! Do not go any farther until you completely understand the essence of the parable of the sower. Just before this Jesus says "To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables", suggesting that this is a great mystery that is not for everybody, but you (His disciples) have the privilege of knowing and understanding this mystery. Finally, He gives the key to this great mystery, "The sower soweth the Word".In other words, the Word is 'The Seed'. The Word is the Seed that all other seeds proceed from. The Word of God was here before any other seed. John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God".
