Unfortunately, his parents later divorced, and he took the role of being the man of the house so that his mother and younger brother would not have to struggle. Eventually, his mom remarried, and his stepfather became a true mentor and inspiration to him. He helped prepare him for the many obstacles he would later face in life. He soon married and felt proud to be a provider for his wife. Unfortunately, he couldn't provide the life she wanted and after nine years of marriage, they decided to divorce. He eventually moved on and fell for his therapist which would lead him into a spiral of misfortune. The only thing great that came out of that relationship was his beautiful little girl. In April 2020, he embarked on the true meaning of his life and became a first-time father. Little did he know he would be in for the fight of his life. Illusion of Control is the second book in the 'Illusion' series, following Illusion of Consent. These books highlight strong Christian women helping other women find success and happiness in a broken society. With the support and financial backing of her family, Ashleigh Justice worked hard to get her architectural degrees at a school considered a man's college, and land a job in a typical man's profession in the 1980's. She thinks she has control of her life, until she realizes the values and mores of the 1980's prevents women from having control of any part of their lives. She faces sexual harassment and creates a group of professional women to protect their equal rights in the workplace. Along the way she finds it isn't easy to change society's culture. Always looking to God for guidance in her life, she establishes a group of women to help her highlight attention to this problem at the state legislature. Her job is in jeopardy and her friendships suffer because of her commitment to women's issues. Her tenacity and dedication attract the attention of two men, the 'perfect man' and the 'right man'. Will she realize what she wants and needs in her life or will she lose them both?

These are, as best as can be reconstructed, the poems written by David Davis during the largest part of his life. Presented in roughly chronological order, beginning when he was just a boy and going through his early seventies, they include the good and the bad and everything in between. Basically, they amount to a form of autobiography, with a lot of the facts left out. Many present his decidedly dry sense of humor and his odd way of looking at life; others are cries from the wilderness. Deceptively simple and clear, there is often a turn of phrase or line that gives you a kick in one part of the intellect or another.

Transformed from mortal to mermaid, Marvela leaves the Amazon waters for the depths of the sea to guard tribal relics from shipwrecks on the Caribbean floor. With a fellow mermaid from Africa, however, Marvela also beholds the trauma of colonial brutality in the cold Atlantic waters. In the poem Marvela and the Broken Water, these two selected sirens depart from traditional mythology to become agents of resurrection. Marvela and the Broken Waters is an illustrated poem novella that one can read in one sitting but the author's messages and imagination reverberate justice, healing, and feminism.

Licensed Clinical Mental Therapist Christine Cantilena Barnes ventures into her divorce stemming from a loveless marriage as a Christian woman and mother. In her book, A Heart's Betrayal, she describes the process of before, during, and after her devastating divorce and picking up the pieces. This includes discovering marital affairs, divorce's effects on children, legal knowledge and helpful tips, financial concerns, regaining emotional steadiness, and reconnecting with the Lord to find your new self goals and purpose. Many things can tear one down while dealing with a divorce, and the most difficult that Christine discovered were keeping her son emotionally sound-minded and fully surrendering herself to God to regain self-confidence and self-love. Her hope is to help others who find themselves in similar situations so they, too, can learn to cope and heal from their extensive pain. Additionally, to learn the new "normal" of being a healthy-minded single parent and to recognize a strong-willed narcissist. Although Christine's experiences prove that a marriage can be filled with devastating destruction, God's mercy and a prayerful community can renew your life to an unexpected height. Her contending spirit are all factors that demonstrate there is also a path of such greatness that awaits you beyond divorce!

He was at the end of the hallway. The stillness of him is what I remember most.I didn't catch him midstride or walking away.He was just standing and looking at me. As if he'd always known I'd be there.Silent. Perfectly silhouetted in the dead center of the hallway. And then he ran, directly at me.They are the Shadow Guild. Or maybe they are The Academics. Or, on second thought, they might be BrainForce. That's all still up for debate. But one thing is certain: Marshall, Quinn, Malcolm, and Brigham are a teenage-detective team on a mission. And that mission is to uncover the mysterious motives behind Marshall's late-night mugging at Carter High School. It's a dangerous investigation that leads the normally rule-following, RPG-obsessed, straight-A honor students into a dark, crime-filled underworld that brings about an entirely new and unexpected question: Will they actually survive? And will they have to break curfew in the process?

I would like to take a few minutes to introduce myself and how I acquired these letters. My name is Steve Lawler and I am an avid history buff, antique picker and have been researching Civil War for 30 years. Myself and Neal (Mac) McBrayer were doing maintenance on our 12 lb Napoleon Cannon at Kelly Ranch near Alpine, AL. some 5 or 6 years ago. There was this trailer there and of course it caught my eye. I looked inside and it was full of boxes and books. I got to looking through the boxes and I found items from as far back as WW1. To make a long story short I was able to purchase the contents from Charles Kelly. As myself and Mac were going through the boxes and trunks, I came across these letters. I couldn't put them down. They were from Captain Kelly to his wife Amie. Nearly all the letters started with My Dear Amie hence the title of the letters. I couldn't bring myself to keep the letters. I gave them back to Charles and asked if I could take them with me and transcribe them. He agreed and a year and a half later I finally got done transcribing them. They are full of tragedies of war, humorous accounts and what Amie needed to do in keeping the farm up and running. If you are history buffs or needing to read the true account of the Civil War you will hear it from someone who lived through it day by day.

  • av Donald Pattillo

Donald Pattillo, an accomplished aviation historian, makes his historical fiction debut with the story of a young female journalist, Ellen Hobson. She begins as a newspaper reporter, a field usually not open to women, in her home city of Pittsburgh in 1904. Soon, becoming restless at being limited to covering local news, Ellen gains the opportunity to travel to Dayton, Ohio, in Spring 1905, to report on the brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright, who claim to have developed a powered flying machine. She meets the rather reserved brothers and is permitted to witness their flying experiments at Huffman Prairie, a field outside Dayton. Although initially skeptical, Ellen comes to believe in the Wright brothers' work and publishes well-received articles about them and their flyer. She continues her reports over the next four years as the brothers pursue recognition and success, leading them to Washington, Kitty Hawk, and then to Europe. Their path is far from smooth however, as they deal with political difficulties as well as legal challenges to their invention. Ellen's involvement with the Wright brothers changes her life in a way she would never have anticipated, including professional recognition, travel, and, unexpectedly, love. ¿Prepare for this compelling story of self-discovery, romance, hope, and ultimately, heartbreak, at the dawn of aviation. Donald Pattillo's novel, A Romance of Flight artfully combines credible fictional characters with a detailed factual portrait of the Wright brothers, their family, and their legacy as inventors of the flying machine.
