Desde la fundación del Judo Kodokan las técnicas de golpeo (Atemi waza) han formado parte inseparable del currículum técnico del judo. En los inicios del Kodokan el atemi waza se practicaba con relativa frecuencia y todos los estudiantes con cierto nivel eran instruidos en el arte del ataque a los puntos vitales, incluso se enseñaba en las escuelas, centros de formación, fábricas y en los centros de trabajo adaptando la metodología para tal fin. Mucho ha cambiado el Judo desde aquellos días, en la actualidad el atemi waza apenas se practica y las escuelas que lo hacen usan el atemi "prestado" de otras artes marciales. Esto sin duda es un error, el Judo tiene su propio atemi waza, con su nomenclatura específica, con sus formas de ejecución y objetivos bien diferenciados. Nuestra anterior publicación "Atemi Waza Judo Kodokan" fue un éxito de ventas, fue publicado en 5 idiomas y se difundió en más de 40 países. En dicha obra mostramos el camino para que personas de todo el mundo conociesen el verdadero atemi waza de judo según lo clasificó oficialmente Jigoro Kano en 1931 en su libro inédito "Judo Kyohon". En esta ocasión hemos decidido realizar este segundo estudio para desarrollar las aplicaciones prácticas del atemi en Judo y complementar al anterior en cuanto a documentación histórica, fotos inéditas y diversa información de gran importancia en el contexto del Atemi y de la defensa personal en el Judo Kodokan. Se han incluido secuencias sencillas de defensa personal dónde se ejecutan las diversas técnicas de golpeó, atendiendo a los principios del atemi enseñando en judo (distancia, ángulo, atedokoro, acción-reaccion, nomenclatura, encadenamientos, bloqueo directo, etc) También hemos decidido destinar un capítulo para recordar la opinión y los documentos de Jigoro Kano acerca del atemi.

The Rose and The Ring is a satirical work of fantasy fiction written by William Makepeace Thackeray, originally published at Christmas 1854 (though dated 1855). It criticises, to some extent, the attitudes of the monarchy and those at the top of society and challenges their ideals of beauty and marriage. Set in the fictional countries of Paflagonia and Crim Tartary, the story revolves around the lives and fortunes of four young royal cousins. The original edition had illustrations by Thackeray who had once intended a career as an illustrator.
