في هذا الكتاب أخترت للقارئ الكريم مجموعة من الدراسات الفلسفية المتنوعة، فيها الجديدة والمنشورة سابقًا في صحيفة "الأندبندنت عربي"، التي أضفتها هنا لتكون ضمن نسق تأليف مدَوْن. كما ارتأيت أن يكون التسلسل الترتيبي لتلك الموضوعات بحسب ترابط أو تقارب عنواناتها المطروحة، وأبقيت على تواريخ الأسماء الواردة في كل دراسة عن أخرى. وبذلك، فضلت الاستهلال بأداة الاستفهام "هل" الموسومة في الدراسات الثلاث "هل الإنسان حر؟". "هل أخذ جبران من نيتشه؟". "هل ديكارت سرق من الغزالي؟". ثم أدرجت ثلاث موضوعات أخرى هي " متوالية فيبوناتشي والتسليم العلمي بالخلق". وعلى الرغم من أهمية العودة العلمية الحديثة إلى نظريته، لكن فيها مأخذًا وضحناه. بعدها "ابن خلدون ونظرية المستقبل"، التي سبق فيها المستقبليون الحديثون والمعاصرون أمثال توماس مالتوس، هربرت ويلز، وأوسيب فلنختهام. ثم "قراءة في الذرائعية"، ابتداءً من المؤسس تشارلز بيرس إلى وليم جيمس، ومطورها جون ديوي والمحدِثون المعاصرون، وعلى رأسهم رورتي. ومجمل هذا العرض المتعدد، وفق تصوري، بمثابة تبيان فكري متنقل الاتجاه بغية الدخول في متابعة رحلة طويلة في خمس اتجاهات شيقة هي الأولى "رحلة مع الفلاسفة في نظرية المعرفة". وفيها سرد تاريخي من الفلسفة اليونانية إلى الفلسفة الإسلامية وصولًا إلى فلسفة العصر الحديث. والثانية "رحلة مع الفلاسفة في علم الأخلاق". تناولت فيها مجموعة مميزة من الثلاثي القديم سقراط وأفلاطون وأرسطو، إلى القطبين الفارابي وابن سينا، ثم كبار الأخلاقيين أمثال سبينوزا، هيوم، كانت، نيتشه، وهابرماس. والثالثة "رحلة مع الفلاسفة في مذهب الشك". أولهم بروتاغوراس، وثانيهم الغزالي، وثالثهم ديكارت، ورابعهم هيوم. أمّا الرابعة "رحلة مع الفلاسفة في السياسة" عرضنا منهم أفلاطون، أرسطوطاليس، الفارابي، ابن سينا، ابن خلدون، مكيافيلي، هوبز، روسو، كانت هيجل، راسل، رورتي. وأخيرًا الخامسة "رحلة فكرية في عصر النهضة العربية". وأهم رموزها الطهطاوي، الأفغاني، محمد عبده، رشيد رضا، وعلي عبد الرازق، ما بين القرنين الـ 19 والـ 20. وجاء موضوع "العرب والترجمة وبناء حضارة الإسلام" في فقراته الأربعة أسباب الترجمة، مراحل حركة الترجمة، أهم المترجمين واللغات التي نقلوا عنها، أساليب الترجمة ونتائجها، تتويجًا ختاميًا إلى هذه الدراسات المختارة. عرف الشاعر حسب الله ملاسي هلول بمواقفه الوطنية المتميزة فى عصر الاستعمار البريطاني ثم فى عصر الاستقلال وكان شديد الأيمان بالوحدة الوطنية والعروبة. اشتهر بمقدره رائعة ومتميزة فى كتابه الشعر من الصغر. استمر يكتب من سنه 1920 الى ان توفى فى 2 أغسطس 1986، رحمه الله. ونشرت أشعاره تحت اسم الشعر السياسى فى كل الصحف السودانية والصحف العربية واللبنانية فى انحاء العالم العربي. ونشرا كلها فى وقتها. وكتب 5 دواوين ولكن للأسف ضاعت هذه لظروف معينة بعد وفاته. وكان أصغر عضو فى جمعيه اللواء الأبيض، وعندما قامت الثورة قام الإنجليز بتفتيشه ومراقبته ولكن الله ستر حيث احرق جدنا كل الأوراق والمنشورات التي كانت بالمنزل. كان من أبرز أعضاء (مؤتمر الخريجين ببورتسودان) وقصائده عن الكفاح والحرية ومحاربة الاستعمار غدت على كل لسان. وقف مع (الأشقاء) فى مطلع الحركة الوطنية ولكن خطه العربي لم يتبدل فقد دافع عن الفكر العربي ووحده الأمه العربية والإسلامية ولكن لم يكن حزبيا. وبعد الاستقلال ابعد نفسهم من الصراعات الحزبية المدمرة ولم يتطلع الى منصب او حاول التقرب من الزعماء والتملق من للزعماء.

وماذا بعد؟! فليس لي علاقات في بلدتي ولا في حلب، كما ليس عندي بيت خاص بي فأنا ما زلت أسكن في غرفة عند أختي بالرضاعة وأخوض حرباً ضروساً ضد عمي الذي اغتصب بيت أمي وأبي وأراضيهم بطريقة غير قانونية. لم أعرف الشعور بالحنين يوماً إلى كرم الجبل ولا أدري ما الذي يشدُّ أبناءها لا سيما الفقراء إليها! فهي ما زالت تعيش في ظل التقسيمات الطبقية والعشائرية ما بين أغنياء يستمدون وجاهتهم ونفوذهم من ثرائهم وامتلاكهم للعمارات والشاحنات وقربهم من مراكز القرار، وفقراء لا حول لهم ولا قوة يعيشون بعرق جبينهم من عملهم اليومي في مجالات وقطاعات شتّى ليحافظوا على كرامتهم وماء وجههم. فما الذي يجده بينهم يتيمٌ مثلي استولى عمه أقرب الناس إليه على ورثتِه من أبيه؟ يا لكرم الجبل كم هي جميلة الاسم والموقع والمناخ وكم هي قاسية على أبنائها ممن هم مثلي وما أكثرهم.

في ظلّ ما يشهده العالَمُ اليوم مِنْ هَجْمَةٍ مُمَنْهَجةٍ للإلحاد، قد مَلَأَت بآثارها الأرضَ ظُلمًا وجورًا وابتعادًا عن الله تعالى، رأينا أنَّ الأمرَ باتَ تَكليفًا شَرعيًا في أنْ نَبْحَثَ في خفايا هذا التَّهديد الخَطير، وَأنْ نَعْكِفَ على جَمْعِ الشَّواهدَ والدَّلائل والبراهين والحُجج أَمَلًا في بُلوغِ مَقام تَوعيّة أولئك الذين تكبَّلَت أيديهم بحبال الإلحاد، ومُحاولة إيقاظهم مِن خطورة التَّشكيك، وَدَعوَتهم لتقويم مَسارهم، وتطهير قلوبهم من الأفكار المُنحرفة، وفكّ سلاسل الشُّبهات التي طُوِّقَت بِها رِقَابَهم، وَسُموم الأفكار الإلحادية التي مُلأت بها عقولهم. أدعو اللهَ تعالى أنْ يَجعل هذا المُنجز المتواضع حصنًا مانعًا أمامَ هذه الريح العاصف التي باتت تهدد الأمم والشعوب، وَتَعبث بعقول الأطفال والشباب، بأسماءَ وَعَناوينَ خَدّاعة كالعَلْمَنَة والأنْسَنَة والانفتاح المعرفي، وما إلى غير ذلك. والكتابُ، وَمِن أجلِ رَفعِ هذِهِ الشكوك والوساوس، وَدَحضِ الأوهام والدّسائس، قد أُعِدَّ لتحقيق هدفين رئيسيين، الأول هو توعيَّة القارئ بالمعرفة الصحيحة لمفهوم الإلحاد وتنبّهه من خطر هذه الهجمة الشّرسة، وَتَحصّنه بالفّهم الدقيق لأُصول وجذور هذه الظاهرة الخَطرة، ومناشئها والجهات التي تدعمها. والهدفُ الثاني هوَ بِناءُ مَنظومَةٍ مَعرفيّة، تَمُدّ القارئ بالأجوبَةِ الفكريَّة، والأدلة العقليَّة والمنطقيَّة، وتقدّم الشَّرح المفصّل والردّ القاطع على أهمّ وأشهر أطروحاتِ المُلحدين، وَشُبُهاتِ المُشَكّكين، وتناقش بالتَفصيل الدلائل العقليَّة والبراهينُ الفلسفيَّة في إثبات وجود الله تعالى، وكيف أنَّها مُنسَجِمَة مع العَقلِ السَّليم والفطرة الإنسانيَّة الأصيلة.
