This little-known but remarkable man was not just a Missionary. He was a writer, photographer, naturalist, and linguist as well. Despite only receiving a primary school education, he published several books on Polynesia and Madagascar, illustrating them with the then new science of photography and his own drawings. So many trigger points and causes lead to these behavior patterns-from trauma to the simple struggle of living day by day with all that this brings to us. Some of us are more resilient, more able to deal with stress and strain. Many are not for a variety of reasons and causes. It was in 1998 Arthur saw an advert in a UK cycling magazine for a world tour in the millennium. It was being organized by an American company who had spent five years planning Odyssey 2000. This was the ultimate challenge a 12 month world tour, cycling with over 200 other mad fools but only two from the UK - 45 countries and 19,000 miles - commencing in Pasadena, USA averaging 70 miles a day five days a week. Arthur raised £8000 for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children a registered UK charity. This is a brief history of my life, woven around Christmas and our family's love of partying, decking the halls, and feasting. Although in recent years the idea of Christmas has become associated with largess, I have always loved the lead-up to the event, the aromas, and the feeling of expectation that the Season brings. The fairy lights, music, and joy combine to make this season like no other. Any excuse for a party!
