It was one of those days that stays with you for the rest of your life: 1 November, 2018, the day I found a small lump in my left breast. I'll never forget that moment. I was filled with dread, fear, and worry about what the future held. I had already seen several family members in the past few months be diagnosed with breast cancer, that dreaded disease. The next day, I was attending a dinner at St. George's Hall, Liverpool, an iconic ceremonial building known throughout the world and the first building visitors see as they exit Lime Street station. It's so iconic that it has been used as a backdrop for film locations for numerous international movies in recent years. I was attending this dinner because I had been nominated for two awards: Employee of the year, a massive honour, and Innovator of the year. These were two extremely prestigious awards within my place of work, Aintree University Hospital. To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement but I was truly over the moon for reasons I will go into later in my story.

Free of fear is about a man who overcame his fear to say no to Saddam Hussein when he wanted him to work on a nuclear weapons programme. The book vividly describes the atrocities of Saddam's tyranny and how he and other inmates survived in Abu Ghraib prison. He overcame his fear again when he defied Saddam by escaping from prison after spending ten years in solitary confinement. After the fall of the regime, he was called upon to assume different ministerial positions and played leading roles in new Iraq. This book is an eyewitness account of five decades of modern Iraq with all its turmoil and challenges. It describes successes and failures at nation-building endeavours. Autobiography of Hussain Al-Shahristani is a mirror of recent Iraq's history.

Sudan's conflicts are rooted in the creation of the state. During Sudan's Anglo-Egyptian colonial rule, the Arabic Muslim north and Christian and animist south were ruled as two distinct entities. The north was modernized but the south neglected, creating parallel entities which overlooked the diversity and historical interrelations between the areas. Sudan's conflicts are rooted in the creation of the state. A 1947 policy change to unify them meant that when the country was granted independence in 1956, Sudan was left with a heavily unified and centralized state, ruled from the north. The south, which already had social and political grievances, feared it would be dominated by the Arabic and Islamist North. Promises to create a federal system were soon broken. In 1955, tensions flared up and led to the outbreak of the first Sudanese civil war. The conflict, which featured successive coups and regime changes, ended with the 1972 Addis Abeba agreement and another promise of political autonomy for the South. Disputes over the discovery of oil in the south in 1979, together with President Nimeiry's decision to implement Islamic Sharia law for the whole of Sudan and end southern autonomy, led to a new surge in civil violence in 1983. This book has five stories: some were written during the author's European Voluntary Service (EVS) experience in Romania to entertain the children while they were at nursery and in the library. Others she collected, influenced by her current residence within the magic of Scotland and also being in love with a mysterious Igbo man from Africa. She has finally made her dreams come true by publishing her first book which she can now read to her two gorgeous daughters Chikaima Maitea and Chimamanda Lavinia. The final tale was a team effort between four talented European volunteers, taking folklore from different countries to spark the imagination of the readers. The narrators of these stories are the members of the Chuk family: a tiger, a panda, a ladybug and an elephant. During the day, they learn from each other the importance of breakfast around the world, and how a traditional Scottish breakfast is eaten. They will teach the readers the names of the colours in the Igbo language, from a part of Nigeria. This book is to be enjoyed with your loved ones, to experience happy moments with your family and friends while also learning about different cultures. The quote by Wole Soyinka "e;the death of nations and the existence of humanity"e; was the main inspiration for A Gathering of Tales from a Cosmopolitan Family, hoping that the stories will bring people together from all over the world celebrating the beauty of diversity through these wondrous characters.

Today, more than ever, entrepreneurs create new start-ups based on original ideas or technical and scientific developments that often have their origins in an academic environment. Very often these entrepreneurs are also young people with little to no business experience, coming with their technical or scientific breakthrough ideas out of an academic environment. This fact makes it challenging for these start-ups to succeed. When one is used to an academic environment, one finds it challenging to adapt to a business environment. And having little to no real business experience only makes the process of adapting more difficult. While passion and drive are certainly present in start-ups, they can be counterproductive if not used in the right way. Even the large multinational companies were once small start-ups and scale-ups. That they are big and important today can only be explained by the fact that as start-ups and scale-ups they did the right things. For many years, the author has been very close to such situations and has been in charge of leading the growth of new business initiatives. His experience shows that business failure is more often the result of lacking the business skills to bring new products to market than a matter of the quality of the new products and developments. Growing Start-Up and Scale-Up Activities into a Successful Business is useful for every entrepreneur-founder-CEO of a start-up or a scale-up and, by extension, every person who has as part of his or her role the task of growing a new business into a successful business. This book is even for venture capitalists who want to help the companies in which they have invested. Unlike the many books that give advice on how to grow a start-up or scale-up into a successful business, which are very often written by people coming from an academic background or by people who have not themselves experienced the challenges of having to do this on a daily basis, Growing Start-Up and Scale-Up Activities into a Successful Business is based on forty-three years of experience with the author actively working on a daily basis to face the challenge of growing new businesses into success. What also makes Growing Start-Up and Scale-Up Activities into a Successful Business unique is that the principles put forward are illustrated by more than forty-five (anonymized) real-life cases. If you would like consulting advice with a hands-on approach from an author who has always had both feet planted firmly in everyday management at the international level for growing new business initiatives into successful enterprises, then Growing Start-Up and Scale-Up Activities into a Successful Business is the right choice for you.

Opening to Omnilateralism After a century of western-inspired multi-lateralism, its much criticised 75-years old stronghold, the UN, needs a new narrative: omni-lateralism. The right vehicle is omnibus - for and by all -, firstly, to widen the way for input of more ideas and good practices of non-Western origin, and secondly, to include non-state actors as legitimate stakeholders in global governance. Some trends already signal an opening towards omnilateralism: enhancing global governance in the COP by adding Eastern understanding of cycles in nature to protect the environment (e.g. in circular economies) and a wider appreciation of 'holism' beyond the rather linear individualistic thinking of Western societies; also accountable groups of civil society - more trusted than officials driven by narrow national interest - increasingly enrich deliberations about climate change and other global problems that need global solutions. These require East-West and North-South cooperation as currently obvious in the urgent cross-border exchanges among experts to combat the pandemic and save lives and livelihood worldwide. Globalisation has elevated millions out of poverty. However, narrow-minded politicians still claim national 'sovereignty' and parochial interests against global solutions for the common good while the Westphalian 'nation' is becoming a historic aberration. Almost all governments nowadays claim democracy, but respect for its principles is falling. Democracy must adapt to each level of governance, from local, national, regional to global. More direct democracy may suit the directly informed local stage. The higher the stage and the wider the impact, the more expertise and responsibility with all stakeholders is needed to reach the common global good, i.e. omnilaterally.

The age-long misconceived idea that Christianity is just one of the other religions has, unfortunately, done more harm than good in preventing millions and millions of people all over the world from embracing the truth about Jesus. The 'Cfaith Explorers', which is a short for the 'Christian faith explorers,' is written out of a genuine desire for people who would like to explore what the Christian faith is all about. It provides, in a most practical, chronological, and dramatic way, how God's revelation and dealings with humanity culminated in the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ the Saviour of the whole world. It is the truth about Jesus Christ that brings people to the life-changing relationship with the living God, not religion.

Amongst all the overwhelming darkness in this world, I found the universal counter of light for all of it in the soul of one person. He is Shaykh Muhammad Adil Ar-Rabbani, master of the path to the one and only Creator. To sit in his presence and hear only a few words, his light pierced my entire existence. I lost myself completely, becoming weightless with peace. He knows me better than I know myself. If I ever forget him I forget also my hope and my light in this world. He is the sun for my earth. All I can hope is to be his follower on the path to Allah, even though I am so weak. Following him is the only thing that keeps me alive in this world, and rescues me from all darkness. With him I feel cleaned and pure, born new into the world over and over. From the teachings of him and his father Shaykh Nazim, I spent many years in contemplation. I became inspired with many quotes; words whispered by the depths of my heart. From them I hope you feel a small piece of light that my shaykh gave to me.

With this book, I wanted to give at least a glimmer of joy to my eternally tormented country, which for decades has been so preciously owed by the freedom gained through its blood. I wanted to introduce to the English-speaking world how a Georgian person thinks, primarily a Georgian poet, who are so numerous in Georgia. And poetry, after all, it is a bridge between people's hearts. Then, walk on this bridge and connect our desires, kind people!

Philip recently moved with his family to LA. He is constantly bullied and considered different from the others both because he is new in town and most importantly for the color of his skin. He still has connections with his African heritage and Cameroon. Thanks to the ultra technological glasses stolen from Doctor Chang, he is able to communicate with the glasses and learn math and physics instantly, permitting him to succeed in school. The only person with whom he feels connected is Rose. So, a new and sincere romance develops throughout the book. In the end, everything works well for the two lovebirds (even the medical operation of his mom) and he can finally feel accepted by the other students and in society in general. Phillip's story become eventually known around the world in the end. Overall, the play is well written, effective in its simple but vivid language and realistic (despite the presence of the ultra-advanced technology glasses), with an abundance of important social issues (racism, bullies, own identity and social acceptance) that are marvelously tangled together.

Inspiration for this book came at work one day when I noticed the children using an excessive amount of paper. I tried discussing the preciousness of paper to the children, explaining that they come from trees. This led on to a big conversation about deforestation and climate change, however the children found this a difficult concept to grasp. I went home that day feeling a bit defeated, and after researching for resources to help teach the topic, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Meet Oonga, an Orangutan in the Borneo rainforest who just loves to eat, sleep and play in her favourite tree. It is her favourite tree because it was the tallest tree in the whole forest and from the top, she could see her entire home and it was beautiful. Until one day, Oonga hears some strange noises, goes to investigate and sees that her rainforest that she calls home will change forever. Will anyone save the Borneo rainforest?

We humans are sparks of divinity in time. With imagination and intuition, we can sense the eternity of our participation in the oneness of consciousness. We are all interconnected and interrelated. Fr. Patrick Mooney, who communicates with God through nature, explores those connections. Dismissing sensational proofs for the presence of an all-embracive Creator, he argues God is in our midst. We only need to open the door of our hearts to find Him. This book seeks to answer questions such as: Has technology advanced too far for our own good? Why is human living such a holy and sacred thing? Why are so many people led astray by atheism? Is the coronavirus pandemic the work of humans or the work of God?All life is holy and sacred because it is governed by one supreme consciousness. The serenity and peace that subhuman species proclaim in abundance can be found by the human species when we hammer it out through our connection to the natural world. Discover the consciousness of our spirituality and a new paradigm of living to work toward a brighter future with the wisdom in The Spiritual Impoverishment of Western Civilization.

nyat of Owl Of Pines is the 5th book of poetry by Saad Ali. It's the first installment in Ali's trilogy of Owl Of Pines. This book is a homage to the nyat i.e. emptiness which is the creator, destroyer, proliferator, and container of existence itself. On this occasion, the vers libres, prose poems, and ekphrases are born out of the interactions and integrations of the elements and forces-natural, human, and non-human-that live between the spaces; spaces, where everything exists i.e. nature, human beings and beasts alike; spaces that we take for granted and perceive to be invisible. Invariably, this book is a homage to the three distinct forms of the literary art i.e. vers libre, prose poem, and ekphrasis. Ali's trademark tools i.e. contemplation and satire adopt the respective forms to reflect upon the multifaceted human condition in the contemporary human society, and the intricacies and niceties of existence itself. As always, the book is an open invitation to everyone to observe such a contemplation at the individual and collective level, too.

The Internet has become a battling ground between pseudo-progressive forces and the new info-industrial powers. For this motive, gifted with wide, unforeseen and timeless capacities, the unknown is been decoded in exchange for rising ancient dilemmas, long lost quests and titanic agents which clearly intents to dethrone historical charlatanism with a kind of post-modern equivalency. Through centuries of proven, controversial or even speculative historical events, this book represents a timeless voyage in search of the so required antidote for Internet, Societies and Reality!Leaving to the reader the option of discerning what can hypothetically resemble any realistic experience or what should be tolerated as fruit of incredulous imagination, this book is introduced as a truly distinct approach which, on a quest format based on a pertinent logical projection inspired on the presented web, allow us to see the end of the Internet that we have all loved but also how we can try to save it away from blindfolded systematizations and fanatic capitalism. With incredible coincidences in relation to the new realities that have been presented to our sane collective mentality upon the emergence of Internet, I've carefully assembled several known historical facts plus many more other pertinent 'visions' that might lie on our creative minds to provide a proper 'image' in relation to the unknown challenges which we have all been confronting since the inception of Internet. In an overall approach, this book also reveals a very thrilling fictional, not proven, and imaginary story crafted with the main objective of inspiring the ideal logical functioning for the Internet as based on the worldwide implementation of a carefully architected plan - 'The Purpose'.After all, modern technology should not be the same as what is written in History!
