While many of the poems or stories may have some truths. Majority are made up scenarios that could have or already happened. Although many of my writings may seem doom and gloomy in the beginnings, they all have hope and positive outcomes. Writing is a way of decompressing and in many ways giving others hope when they have none!

Just like everyone in the story of Jesus' birth, we each have a unique path when it comes to finding our way to God. Some paths are long, arduous and uncomfortable like the very pregnant Mary riding the donkey to Bethlehem. Some are joyous like the shepherds' race into town after their encounter with the angels. Some are thrust upon us like Joseph in a time of crisis. Suffice it to say, there are a lot of ways to the manger - a lot of ways to God - but they all end at the same place - in His presence. " Way to the Manger" is a daily guide through Advent to help you along your way to His presence.

It has been the darkest period in human history, when on September 01, 1939 the Nazi Germany invaded Poland, and the Soviet Union supported the invasion by attacking Poland from the east on September 17, 1939. Such was a beginning of the WWII with the Nazis fascists raiding the European countries and the USSR communists seizing the Baltic countries. My father was a pilot of an attack bomber Il-2, and he took off on 22 June 1941 to meet the Luftwaffe west of Kyiv. Then, one month later he flew a final combat sortie over Ukraine. Through the misty shades, the pilot noticed down the ground an enemy armor convoy and threw his bomber into a sharp-dive-attack, precisely hitting the target with heavy bombs. But, probably, it was too sharp, and the fuel in the tanks was very low quality to abort the inertia of such a steep descend. Ivan-pilot crash-landed on the field. The Soviets classified it as a fatal war casualty and called it "lost without news". But he survived and was kept in a Nazi death camp, where he deceased in 1944. I have traced the father's tragic path all through from the moment of his last sortie and then, in the manmade hell of captivity. Today, the people come to that once deadly place of Flossenburg in Bavaria and venerate the fallen in the war with hope that it will never happen again. But after 81 years, it again came to Ukraine, however, from the other side - from the east. The Russians suddenly invaded this country almost in the same way as they did it in Poland in 1939 and then, in Finland and the Baltic countries. And again, the Ukrainian life turned deadly with thousands and thousands killed and "to be missing". The bell tolls for them all over in Ukraine. And that sad song-requiem of the 20th century about "Buchenwald alarm bells" has been resumed in the 21st century, resonating in this country, but under a new caption today - "Ukrainian alarm bells". * * *, 1 1939, 17 1939.,, ., - -2, 22 1941, . ., ., , . - . ., 1944., .,,, . 81, ., 1939, . . . - 20-,, 21-, - .

Real Life Gray Kitty Gray Kitty was truly a stray. Abandoned on a college campus, he was so emaciated that I thought he was a kitten. Soon I found that he had a urinary tract blockage and required major surgery. After surgery, Gray flourished. He gained weight and was "king of the cats" in my house. Gray taught me a lot about attitude. Nothing ever intimidated him- not even large dogs. Gray loved to jump into the shower. I think he liked the warmth and he didn't seem to mind getting wet. He'd always let me put him in a sink of warm water to keep his white paws sparkling. Gray ate so much that his tummy got big and round and I would laugh about him "being fit for basketball". For the first six months that he lived with me Gray would only sleep on my chest and he would purr all night long. Gray died in 2002 of old age. I don't know how old he was but he lived with me for twelve years. Trudy L. Himes

In the 1960s, a young American president helped initiate the civil rights movement, captured the imagination of a nation with the establishment of the Peace Corps, launched the space age, nurtured the birth of the computer/digital age, and began the escalation of a war in Southeast Asia that exacted a horrific toll on the lives and emotions of his countrymen.Sheltered by the foothills of the White Mountains from the world events swirling around it, Dartmouth College resplendently approached 1969-the 200th anniversary of its founding as a school for Native Americans. As the smallest of the Ivy League schools, it was known for its dedication to a rigorous undergraduate education, its isolation from urban centers and sports prowess, and the intriguing manifestations of its all-male culture. In Days of Splendor, Hours like Dreams, author and 1967 Dartmouth College graduate Charles "Chuck" A. Hobbie offers a detailed, frank, and unpretentious memoir. Hobbie remembers the splendor and the fullness of his undergraduate days in the last decade of Dartmouth's all-male culture. He recounts the minutiae of his courses; friendships with classmates; his dates; and the faculty; academic, social, musical, and sporting events; the extraordinary beauty of the college's location; and his evolving affection for the remarkable school where hours passed like dreams.

AUTHOR'S NOTELong a hotbed for quality athletics, Chester County, PA has been developing superior athletes, superb athletic teams and highly-qualified coaches for decades and decades.About thirty-five miles west of Philadelphia, Chester County's documented sports history dates as far back as the 1870s when it was first recorded on paper for those alive then to read, and for future historians and sports fans like we are to review years later.Sportswriters make a living documenting the highs and lows of amateur and professional competition, from the constant mood swings - euphoria one minute to the pure agony of defeat the next - to the personal and impersonal sides of the game. From tennis to volleyball, soccer to baseball, cross country to track and field, football to softball, basketball to skateboarding, wiffleball, golf and wrestling to Frisbee, there have been incredible individual performances from Chester County athletes over the years, too many team championships to remember, district, state and national titles, and humble coaches developed through longevity, perseverance, resiliency and dependability. Some players have become household names while others have their moment or two of glory and fade into the sunset.Who can forget the spring of 1970 when Avon Grove High School under the skilled guidance of the late Bill Miller, who had never played basketball, won the PA state Class B boys' basketball championship, doing something no one else could do then- stop Mansfield and its 6-10 phenom Tom McMillan, who would later have a great professional career. Broadcasters Art Douglas and FrankFarley, now both deceased, announced the game on WCOJ radio as the 1970s version of "Hoosiers" unfolded from inside that brown Philco on the nightstand.Devon Prep won a state Class A boys' basketball title in the 1990s; Downingtown High School's girls, led by Tina Nicholson and Tora Suber and ageless Bob Schnure who is still going strong today with over 600 career coaching wins to his credit, came frombehind to win a remarkable game over Penn Hills and the state title in the early ' 90s.Who can forget Downingtown's state football championship in the 1990s, Immaculata College's surprise 52-48 upset of West Chester State College to win the National Women's Collegiate Basketball Tournament in 1972, or West Chester winning the first-ever women's national basketball title in the late 1960s.How about Charlie Perrone' s West Chester Warriors, who won 40 straight baseball games in the Ches-Mont League in 1965-1967 with future first round draft choice Jon Matlack doing the majority of the pitching. The southpaw Matlack later pitched in the Major Leagues with the New York Mets and Texas Rangers.Kennett Square turned out Hall of Fame baseball pitcher Herb Pennock, Coatesville High School gave us Richard "Rip" Hamilton, a National Basketball Association star, and Billy Joe, who scored three touchdowns for the New York Jets in the Super Bowl in the late '60s and later coached football at Cheyney State. John Chaney, Jack McClellan, Ross Kershey, Charlie Way, Jack Wendland, Joe Senser, Jim Pribula, Dave Cox, Bobby Owens, Neil Serpico , Glenn Killinger, Walt Funk, Dick DeLaney, Bob Boyer, Ed "Moose" Townsley, Mel Lorback, Jim, "Chunky" Klunk all were household names at one time with Chester County ties. And, don't forget Andy Toth of West Chester High who set a Ches-Mont boys ' basketball single-game scoring record in the mid 1960s, hitting 51 points in a lopsided West Chester win over Downingtown, a game in which Downingtown, as a team , had only 51 points total. That record will never be broken. There are so many names, so many memories, and not enough space to do justice to them all.As a sportswriter and sports editor in Chester County for nearly 15 years, and as a local sports fan for many decades more, I've seen my share of athletic drama, accomplishments, feats which will never be topped, a

This book is about an outstanding woman who had to face all of her obstacles through faith. She began acting out her ambitious personality through everything that she had set out to do. After being let down by so many people who she loved and trusted she turned back to the first and only love she knew, God. Inspiration from God showed positive outcomes in difficult situations. This book is to tell my readers that there is a God and he can deliver them just as he delivered me in my time of need, by developing a relationship with God you are opening a new door to your life, just by having faith in him he will start to show you his loyalty, faithfulness, and unfailing love and no matter what you go through God is using you as a witness to prove what he say is true and that God does preform miracles that are unknown to mankind. With this said she was given the courage and the strength through the love of God to raise and nurture four dependents, 3 sons and a husband, who was rarely there at times. All of a sudden things started to happen to the family things that were so unbelievable. She felt such pain in her back from a forklift that created a muscle disorder through out her entire body, but God kept her going. She is such a courageous woman and she has struggled through many things such as the loss of loved ones and getting caught in the midst of fire. But through it all with the help of God, she has been able to find true love and happiness in her life.

Anyone who has piloted an airplane can relate to some of my experiences. If not, you should still enjoy some of the humorous stories. For example; One day, the pilot of a single engine Piper Cherokee 180 was told by the tower to hold short of the active runway while a McDonald Douglas MD-80 landed. The MD-80 landed, rolled out, turned around and taxied back past the Cherokee. Then I heard some quick-witted comedian in the MD-80 crew get on the radio and said, What a cute little plane ! Did you make it all by yourself ? Our hero, the Cherokee pilot, not about to let the insult go by, came back with,"I made it out of MD-80 parts. Another landing like that, and I'll have enough parts for another one".This book gives you a look into the real world of flying, for a livelihood and some of the funny and sad things that happen in the world of aviation.
