Memory is often important: people look back on their younger lives, trying to make sense of the past.Structure is crucial in a short story. Some of these are narrated in a café, a pub or a club. The reaction of the listeners is significant. Sometimes, characters are reading an old journal, a series of letters, a recommended book or a poem set for homework. How do they respond?Three stories may be categorised as flash fiction. They comprise only about 250 words each and are attempts to develop the possibilities of this format.

I find that it's better to take one step forward and two steps back, because a good solid defence is better than attack! Is an attempt on my part to give an insight into a broad spectrum of feelings shared by us all and in particular how we feel about Life and Death. Love is a common thread and permeates my work like the smell of incense in a Church elevating the senses, or a searchlight looking for life in the aftermath of an avalanche. Such is the power and the meaning of words when used provocatively in poetry to give life to complex emotions and feelings.

Together, this fairy family must combine their talents to face an evil enemy. They must adapt and fight for their very survival.
