Who is the woman watching from the dim glow of the lamplight outside? Why did she disappear that tragic night, as if a figment of imagination? Having left a problematic relationship behind in Manhattan, architect Dani moves upstate with her new husband to renovate an old modernist house. The shock of discovering him dead in the hall and Dani's subsequent grieving are quickly punctuated by disturbing discoveries. Why did the previous owners suffer a suspicious downfall? Perhaps several break-in attempts at the house are related. Someone also appears to be stalking Dani. Could it be the jogger she sees at night? Is she the lady in the lamplight? Dani fears these unsettling individuals are connected to her husband's murder. But how? When her husband's wealthy, but shady, brother, Paul offers to move in to help, Dani wonders about an ulterior motive. Suppressing buried desires, she is drawn to the similarities between Paul and her husband. Visits from her old partner only add to her problems, particularly the irritating memory block surrounding their past. Befriending her stylish female neighbour, Dani finds security footage of the murder, drawing her into an intriguing mystery - seemingly centred on the house and perhaps its secret contents. Dani is shocked to discover the reason behind the whole affair could be close to home - as, too, might be the disturbing revelation routed in her past. The mystery cries out to be solved... before it slides to a fatal conclusion.

Drawing and painting is a daily joy in life for me. The impact the indigenous people from Native American reserved throughout British Columbia has never left me. They were my first Art and Design students. Everything the young and elders said or did oozed a pure and authentic spirituality I had never experienced before. Their words for the planet are humbling. My friend's grandfather was Chief Dan George.

The Inspiration for An Atheist View of the Bible came from reading An Encyclopedia of Biblical Errancy by C. Dennis McKinsey. My reading of the Old Testament of the King James translation of the Bible, along with the William Buck translation of the Indian epic Mahabharata, has made me look at these ancient stories from a new and modern perspective: a perspective that the ancient scribes could not have possibly imagined and could not describe what they witnessed. The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins is an exceptionally good example of an alternative view on harmful medieval religious dogma. The Bible Unearthed by Israel Finkelstein challenges the fundamentalist reading and offers a controversial perspective the Bible. There is a growing interest in our ancient past, with the desire of many people to find the real truth behind the one-sided history that has been accepted and taught for far too long.

Though fiction, The Triptych is firmly based on incidents in the lives of three ordinary men from the Hall family. Spanning nearly a century, this vivid narrative interweaves the fates of three generations caught in the tumult of three key historical events: the 1855 Siege of Sebastopol during the Crimean War; the Expedition to rescue General Gordon in 1884-85; and the fierce Dodecanese Campaign of 1943.While these stories form the triptych of the title, they are linked via the fate of a second triptych: an imaginary object bequeathed to James Hall by a dying Russian soldier. This passes repeatedly between the Halls and an Italian family, the Lassaros. These stories bring to life the struggles of those who had no hand in the politics that sent them to battle yet bore the brunt of its consequences. From the brutal battlefields to the quiet courage that followed, their journeys highlight the personal costs of conflicts initiated by distant politicians.Narrated by a fourth-generation Hall in the twenty-first century, himself a former soldier, The Triptych offers a window into a family's legacy across a period marked by both volatility and violence. This novel is a tribute to the often unheralded resilience of ordinary people in times of conflict. Their lives paint a vivid triptych of quiet courage, endurance and the survival of the human spirit.

Rags is blossoming into a charming character who simply adores the company of people. He's always eager to greet anyone he encounters with a joyful 'hello'. On one memorable occasion, Rags approached a man by his garden gate, eager to make a new friend. The man, touched by Rags' friendly gesture, gratefully expressed, 'Thank you for being in the world.' If Rags could talk, he'd surely have responded, 'You're welcome'.Rags still likes to find things on his walks. Rags shows me things that capture his interest. Amazingly, it is usually things that I would never have noticed and then I find them interesting too. I have learned that Rags has a special bark when he is on the trail of a fox. I think he really wants me to know how clever he is to have picked up the scent. This story about the adventure with Mrs Fox is true. Rags did search out the fox in his garden. We did find Mrs Fox in the woods watching us as we watched her. On another day, we really did find the baby foxes playing 'catch' in the woods. The scene with the chicken, well that was also true. Mrs Fox had to feed her babies and as the story shows, she was very good at that.
