After intense military training abroad, Umkhonto we Sizwe freedom fighters are determined to return home to South Africa as armed combatants alongside the masses struggling for liberation. Their planned route back necessitates crossing through Rhodesia. So they share their intentions with fellow comrades from the ZPRA forces also battling Rhodesia's regime. This dialogue gives rise to a joint military alliance when ZAPU and ANC leadership approve the strategy. Thus, the Luthuli Detachment is born - a combined battalion from ZPRA and Umkhonto we Sizwe named in honour of the late ANC President General Albert Luthuli. On the eve of departing to reach South Africa, these joint forces cross into Rhodesia, though not without casualties. After successfully navigating the treacherous Zambezi river into Rhodesian land, an explosive encounter in Hwange Game Reserve turns it into the chilling rendezvous point where the Luthuli Detachment's destiny collides with history's call to duty. Will they accomplish their mission of participating alongside South African masses hungering for emancipation?

I see a pile of the wreckage of a human. But I can still visualize the statue of beauty you used to be; Still, among all the ashes, the tears, the damaged parts, And the cold touch of your buried pain. After all, it was I who demolished you, And it was the sound of your crumbling that awakened me.

"The bombing of Guernica, 80 years ago, inspired one of Picasso's best-known works. Now, visitors to this iconic part of Spain's Basque Country will discover a town devoted to peace and reconciliation. It is also about using art as a form of protest to encourage change and make people think objectively, rather than react irrationally." James Gerard The novel is about family, friendships, war, peace, history, hope, endurance and ultimately reconciliation. It is about stopping for a moment and seeing the world from another person's point of view in different times, cultures, and environments. The first part of the book centres around two small, yet significant villages, Scotstoun, Glasgow and Guernica in the Basque region, northern Spain. Set before, during and after WW2, it should be noted that two of the main characters include a doctor and nurse at a time when there was no NHS. The second part of the book focuses- on a Peace Centre set up in a flat in Scotstoun called Haizean (Basque for in the wind), where students come from all over the world to share ideas. Imagine living in enforced exile for nearly forty years of your life. Add to that the lack of any of your fellow-countrymen within a thousand miles. Asier was a doctor living in Guernica back in 1937 alongside his wife and two children when the German bombers arrived. He has to assume that his family have all perished. Arriving in Glasgow, thanks to the efforts of John Oswald, a Scottish journalist, Asier carries on his work as a doctor. Asier's diaries afford some insight into his coming to terms with separation from his homeland, namely the Basque region in the North of Spain. But more than this, they chronicle key events leading up to, during and after World War II.

How often is it that we take the time to stop and listen to what our children have to say or are trying to tell us in their actions and behaviour? These poems came about as result of time I spent with my son, playing with him, imagining with him, talking to him, and listening to him. I hope that they also touch the hearts of all parents and children who can recognise a little bit of themselves in the narration.

The Jester is an alien lifeform who travels the universe. In this story he has come to visit the Earth, which he last visited a thousand years ago, when he spent his time in Ireland, where the locals worshipped him as a god and called him a Leprechaun. He is called The Jester advisedly, because he is a jolly but mischievous character who likes to play tricks on people. He is not evil, he just likes having fun. Sometimes he makes dreams come true. In this story he plays two japes. In the first one he takes a leaf out of an Agatha Christie story by placing dead bodies, of naked women, in the libraries of six of the landed gentry in this country, just in order to baffle the police and have fun with them. In his second jape he has further fun by involving himself with the robbery of an ancient religious object - the alleged skull of a saint!
