Life was different back in the day. Community was vital. Childhood antics, teenage exploits, and the challenges of young adulthood revealed I didn't know what I thought I knew. Through all of this, the greatest influence of my life was my mom. She helped me process the good and the bad. Instead of being one-dimensional live, love, and laugh with the great intention and anticipation of more. As she is no longer with me her words and laughter linger on, and I am emancipated. I learned that the greatest gift of life was and truly is love; unpretentious, nurtured, and existing to be shared with others.

Where was Jesus and what was he doing during the many centuries of Old Testament history? If Jesus had personal contact with people only after being born in Bethlehem, where was he for the hundreds of years while the Jewish people lived their lives. suffered and struggled, and were in need of direction and support? If he really cares for people, is it rational to believe that during that time he was not engaged at all in human history?Using a fresh and little explored empirically-based approach and resources including the Septuagint, three keys are found which in the New Testament reliably distinguish the person and work of Christ from that of God the Father. Guidelines for the use of the keys are established, and these guidelines are then applied to 25 selected passages in the Old Testament where the divine is definitely at work. When this is done, the results clearly show that Jesus Is There, at work in the Old Testament and doing far more with people than most of us ever thought. You are invited to examine these in-depth studies with the prospect that you may arrive at a truly broadened understanding of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Wallace A. Evans is my grandfather who lived to be 100 years old. He was born August 22, 1884 and he died November 29, 1984. My grandfather was a man among men. I have come to realize he will live on in all of us. If I were to sum up his life in a song it would be, "I'm A Soldier in the Army of The Lord." It is an honor to be labeled a soldier in the Lord's army. It's even greater honor if your journey lasts 100 years. His dedicated life has left a profound impartation upon mine. It has been a great pleasure and honor to write about him. Old soldiers, they don't die, they just fade away is both a poetic and prophetic way to sum up my grandfather's inspiring life.

I was sitting in a waiting room and looked for something to read. There were a couple of children's books and that was it. I thumbed through them - same books sixty years ago.I thought I needed to do a children's book. - A parent could interact with. So, I came up with "Hard Facts."It's compiled of things that mom and dad would tell you not to do, and like most children, it went in one ear and out the other. It was never retained in the brain. So, when your mom and dad weren't around, you did it.I talked to the ER nurses, and they gave me actual situations that happened over the years by children that did not listen.I found an artist and we came up with "Diputs" and reacted out each possible rule ending in possible death.I showed the book to teachers, police, doctors, and firefighters and got great reviews. Around 80% of "mothers" said it was too graphic for their children.I went back to the drawing board and tamed it down. Now, about 50% of mothers said to tame it down more. So, it went back to the artist one more time and we decided that it was enough.It's not a perfect world and you can't wrap your children in bubble wrap. Nobody can watch their children 24-7. Kids will be kids, but with "Hard Facts," you can go page by page with your child and this time it won't go in one ear and out the other.

In His Footsteps: Is a story that was written with our country's veterans in mind. It is also for the survivors left behind, by the ones that died in battle. It was the summer of 1973, and the Vietnam War was casting its insidious shadow over the world. Caught in a riot that began as an anti-war protest, I found myself running for my life from club-swinging cops and being teargassed from pepper fogging guns at the University of Minnesota. The protest was a result of American airplanes bombing neighboring Cambodia. It was soon after the deadly shootings at Kent State University where four students were gunned down. Many students gathered at Coffman Memorial Union watching television monitors broadcasting that day's protest-turned-riot.It was announced that the Minnesota National Guard had been called in. Oh-oh, here we go again. Were they going to open fire on us too? I was a senior at the university and had been accepted at the University of San Diego Law School. That day's events changed my life. No way was I going to be a part of a money-crazed system as a lawyer, so I began my journey as an artist/sculptor.Five years later, I found myself living in a tent in the woods near Ely. After two years of tent life, I moved to an old hunting shack filled with spiders, mice, and snakes on the property I bought. It was a roof over my head. After seven laborious years of remodeling with popular logs that I fitted into a log hut around the shack, the structure burnt to the ground during the blue moon on New Year's Eve 1990. It was minus 40 degrees. I sat in the firetruck with then chief Klun after racing to my nearest neighbor's house, logger Buster Nicholson, where I burst through his door yelling, "My house is on fire!""Use the phone," he hollered, and I did. I hope that reading this book, also will inspire you to go for adventures and to discover places and become an adventurous as I am. It's very fun!
