The Adventures of Finnigan is a fictional story about a stray cat who finds a caring family to adopt her. She tries to do the right thing and fit in with the family but is not always successful - sometimes with humorous results. Her new family looks after her and forgives her when she misbehaves.

The Adventures of Louie is a fictional story about a friendly rescue dog who makes friends wherever he goes and sometimes gets into trouble. Whatever he is doing, Louie enjoys himself. Some of his adventures are funny, others seem unfriendly but all are well-intentioned. His adopted family includes him in all their activities and forgives him each time he misbehaves because they love their new pet. Louie loves his new family, so he tries to be good.

WWI is over and light is starting to shine at the end of the depression when newly graduated aeronautic engineer John Staples stops in New York for a quick visit with his ex-stepfather who generously paid for his university education. Having never known the father her mother claimed died in the line of duty as a police officer, she is now truly alone. What starts out as a room for rent in the boarding house, and an innocent arrangement for cooked meals, soon turns into something John never expects-love. But the web of lies and withheld truth to maintain the don's secrecy has him caught in the middle, and he fears their budding relationship might not survive the truth.
