Alexander Malcom MacCord, one of John Coffee's Hays First Mounted Rifles on an errant for General Zachery Taylor finds a new route in Mexico near Monterrey for his sick troops. During a battle he is wounded and dives into a hole that he thinks holds a corpse, but the man is still alive and says his name is William Roundtree who'd been at Point Isabel before getting caught in the war. Roundtree shows MacCord a packet telling him it is for his daughter, Becky, who was taken as a child by Indians. MacCord takes him to a field hospital. The next day, MacCord watches as a Ranger, J.J. Sutton slaughters two boys for a horse before deserting his unit. MacCord, shocked at his brutality, vows to find him and cut his heart out. After the war MacCord rides for Matamoros, stopping in Santa Eulalia and meets Bushy Pounds. When a brutal group of men ride down the street, Pounds tells MacCord they are scalpers and have come to sell their scalps and how they are honored and loved by the people. MacCord can't help but notice the necklaces of dried ears and human teeth with tanned human skin for bridles on their horses. Riding in the group is J.J. Sutton. Pounds points to their leader, John Ephraim Davis telling MacCord every man riding with him is nothing but vicious sonsofbitches and all come to town every month since Davis has a contract with Trias, the Mexican Governor. MacCord disgusted rides for Matamoros where he stays with a half Navajo, half Mexico girl and tries to forget the war. While MacCord is out hunting, Nizoni is alone and is attacked, murdered, and scalped by Davis's group looking for more scalps. MacCord returns to find Nizoni horrendously murdered furiously promising to hunt down and kill them all. The intervention of a small wolf cub with a broken leg stops him for a short while and in the process of caring for the cub he begins to let go of his guilt over Nizoni, but not his vengeance. He rescues a woman and an Indian boy both captives, learns the woman is Rebecca Roundtree and the boy an orphan. He brings them both along on his quest to kill. Rebecca falls in love with him, her knight in shining armor, but he can't let go of his hatred. MacCord leaves Rebecca with a father she hates, and the boy with a friend before joining Davis's group as a Judas killing them one by one. He is left gravely wounded. The wolf leaves and finds Rebecca, leading her to MacCord where she is able save his life but more importantly from a culture of blood money and scalps.

In the stillness of a Texas evening, the younger brother of Johnny Hawk is brutally murdered and the killer left two legged wolf tracks. The horrible death ultimately drives Johnny away from his family. He joins John Coffee Hayes' Rangers to fight in the Mexican American War but the experience hardens Johnny even more. He remains in Texas, a vigilante hunter until fate brings young Victoria Bryan into his life. They go their separate ways, but Hawk can't stop thinking about her. A few years later a young Navajo girl Johnny is living with is brutally murdered in the same terrible manner his brother had been. Horrified Hawk vows to hunt down this killer but when Tori Bryan comes back into his life his worst fears are realized when she is taken hostage by a band of cutthroats that unknowingly has a werewolf as a key member. Hawk must face his childhood fears in order to rescue Tori from something he understands little of but knows death is the only cure. Along the way he learns true love does heal deep wounds.

Two scientific researchers, Kate Rogers and Dave Matheson, are working in the Congo when they mysteriously disappeared. Matheson is soon found on the sparsely populated Navajo Reservation, thousands of miles from where he'd been working, after a family comes across him. They get him to the Chinle BIA hospital where it is discovered he has been brutally attacked by an unknown animal, as he babbles nonsense about "foam" "quantum" and "dragons." Matheson screams about Kate Rogers and how sorry he is. Matheson then dies a short while later from a severe bacterial infection and his death is reported to James Larkin in Brussels at the ITRC Research Institute. His partner and scientists, Kate Rogers, has not been heard from and presumed lost or dead but no one knows where. Ed Tevis, Larkin's lead scientist tells Larkin that he believes Kate has been accidently swept back in time into an ancient world through a time vortex created by Larkins ITRC quantum computer, and that the markers created will find Kate. Larkin decides not to report Matheson's death to the authorities but insists on sending a party back to the Congo to rescue Rogers, not because he cares about her, but because he wants to patent time travel and make millions of dollars. Larkin tells Gwyn Stone, his organization's attorney and fixer, to contact Seth Conner, a prominent paleontologist and entice him to travel back in time to rescue Kate using whatever it takes. Connor is skeptical of the time continuum theory but after Stone offers him a large sum of money to go, he decides to take the risk. Seth understands if he actually goes back in time, and succeeds in finding Kate Rogers alive, that's only half the battle. Getting back home is the other half which will completely depend on them keeping the single marker he has and with it locating a vortex then be able to open it, near flat land with running water. That proves difficult since they are prey to many ancient animals. Fail and all is lost. Even if they both survive, there is the chance they could be stranded in the Cretaceous world where dinosaurs are kings, living, breathing, and eating, a lethal world that to date Seth Connor had only studied by digging up bones of these ancient beasts. Can he do this? Is Kate still alive? Jurassic Time Riders is a suspenseful story, one full of action and adventure focused on Seth Connors journey to find Kate Rogers, stuck in the past. If they survive this dangerous, lethal world, will they get back home?
