However, the Hurr-Nam have a few colonies on member planets, including Earth. Pip is a twelve-year-old girl from Earth who lives with her uncle Carter Conway on Trebor-A in the outer reaches of the Vomisa galaxy. Until she lived with her uncle, Pip had never had a stable home. Her mother is incarcerated for narcotics possession. Uncle Carter is an aging stand-up comedian who is forced into hiding from unscrupulous investors.Jorin Zee is half human and half Zendairian. His parents were killed when he was 7 years old and he was raised by his Grandfather, Garret Grissom, on Earth. Now Jorin is the past president of the Intergalactic Congress. Jorin Zee, as the past president of the Congress, keeps his real identity a secret. Jorin is contacted by Knarf Eneg, a Hurr-Nam AI general asking for his assistance in clearing the name of the Hurr-Nam.

Every tavern I ever visited had one or more interesting characters. Some elusive, many friendly, these characters always fascinated me. Those appearing in this poem collection are composites based on real people; some still living. Papa Geoff combines Chaucer with the first angel in Revelation and authentic tavern patrons. Many of the events, such as Papa's recitation of "The Cremation of Sam McGee" are based on actual occurrences. The dreamer shifts in and out of an imaginary tour of the pubs that Chaucer's troupe visited on their way to Canterbury, the heavenly scene depicted in Revelation, and Alberta, Canada taverns. He encounters a character who reminds him of the Porter in Macbeth, a biblical harlot, zeke and zak, trapper, and a host of patrons all demanding a voice.
