It was shortly after that when, unsure and afraid of what lie ahead for her, she made a clean break armed with barely the clothes on her back and an unrealistic dream of someday making something of herself showing her the way.About a week or so later, fate intervened and brought Jake and Trish together. It wasn't long before they discovered they shared many of the same interests and had much the same goals in mind. They also realized they were drawn to one another and that nothing comes about strictly by happenstance.

However, with the death toll, that summer of 1863, having reached an official 32 at the hands of the ruthless killers─with some of the prospectors and miners who lived it, putting it as high as 60─it was a very real part of the story that was the settling of the basin and surrounding mountains. Make no mistake about it, for those who managed to stay one step ahead of the treacherous Felipe Espinosa and his sworn vengeance, the summer of 1863 was one of keeping one hand on a fella's gold pan and the other on the butt end of his six-shooter.

The quest proves to be difficult at best as along the way they are faced with surviving the ever-present threat of the thousand pound marauding grizzly, Old Mose, unruly Utes, unscrupulous white slave traders, a close encounter with a forest fire, and Womack's general love of hitting the sauce on a regular basis.Chad's greatest difficulty, however, is surviving the complications of the heart as he pursues the affections of the beautiful and lovely Miss Jennifer Marie Lively.
