God really does move in mysterious ways His wonders to perform. Including this book there are 14 of my books on Amazon available both in eBook and paperback formats; but none would have been written if it had not been for a whole series of events that led to a friendship initially between an Official Prison Visitor and a Jew who had come to realise that Jesus Christ really was the Jews long awaited Messiah. This book describes a process that was started in 1939 and ended up with three men of diverse characters and situations in life colaborating to provide study books that have brought to many unbelievers and believers the true message of the kingdom of God.It is an itriguing tale that has facinated me and I am one of the three men. But what has brought the greatest joy is the enlightening of a rabbi to the truth of Jesus Christ, Messiah and his epiphany moment that transformed his life. We are told there is great joy in heaven over one sinner that repents, in this case there was also great joy and celebration on earth when Aaron began to read the whole Bible and experience the Holy Spirit open it up to him in a way he had never experienced before. Derek and Aaron, two Jewish boys adopted after the war, went different ways, one into crime and the other to rabbinic school. What is so wonderful is that both these men who had been brought up as Orthodox Jews, had the scriptures (both testaments) opened up to them by a Gentile This is our story, which has benefitted many thousands of individuals.

If we do not know who God is, how can we worship Him, or even get to know Him in any meaningful way?It is in our created nature, our spiritual DNA, to want to worship something much bigger than ourselves, to understand the purpose of our life here on this earth, so it is in our own interests for us discover for ourselves just who God is and how we should relate to Him.For Christians the basis of our search for any knowledge of God must be concentrated in the Bible. Indeed, the whole purpose of this book is just that. Searching through the Bible to give us the best understanding of the God who created us so that we can properly worship Him and, most important of all, relate to Him and serve Him.Throughout my life I have been intrigued with God, indeed He has increasingly become central to my life so that I now have a passion to pass on all that I have discovered about Him to others.

The Old Testament is written off by many people as being irrelevant for the modern believer and yet without it the New Testament makes no sense. It is full of essential information about the One creator God, how the creation came into being and the only way individuals and nations should relate to Him as explained in my other books. The Bible makes the fact very clear that the creator God, who of His own sovereign will related Himself to His chosen nation of Israel, is a hands on creator who not only created all that exists out of nothing, but also maintains its very existence. It also reveals that the soul and spirit of every man lives on after their physical death and their destination for eternity is also under His immediate control. The Old, or as I prefer to call it the First, Testament is packed full of personal and national examples of man's relationship with the creator God that provide those living with a guide as to how they should relate to Him and they ignore Him at their cost. This book focuses on the lives of the kings of Judah and Israel after the 10/2 split and seeks to explain where they went wrong within the personal, national and international sociopolitical environment at that time. It starts with the rules God laid down for future kings of Israel through Moses, the errors of Solomon that led to the split and the individual biographies of each king. It includes the shining example of the life of the prophet Elijah in amongst the Godlessness of the kings of Israel, the return of some of the Jews from exile in Babylon, the relationship of the surrounding nations to Judah and Israel, with a final chapter on The Future. There are plenty of references to the Second Testament throughout. The emphasis is on God's message to mankind and how He maintained the existence of Israel not for their sakes but for His great name's sake because of His determination to ensure His ultimate plan of eternal salvation would not be allowed to be disrupted. This is the unique total power of God in action in spite of the fickleness and rebelliousness of individuals who prefer to go their own way without realising that they are being manipulated by Satan and his demonic forces. The Lord God of Israel is the God of the impossible because not only did He out of nothing create all that is, He has designed into it a limit to its life when all that we see will be burned up. Have no doubt that God is in absolute control even though He has given mass certain freedoms. This book was a challenge o write and, according to others, makes compelling and instructive reading.

After the crucifixion the disciples hid away frightened to death of what the authorities might do to them. When Christ appeared to them after the resurrection they were much encouraged but they were still in no position to serve God. It was therefore necessary for them to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Lord told them not to leave Jerusalem for it was there that they would receive power when "the Holy Spirit is come upon you". Then on the day of Pentecost they were filled with the Holy Spirit and transformed from frightened men, into men willing to minister to others in His name, inspired and emboldened by the Holy Spirit. Just as Peter was unable to preach as he did on the day of Pentecost without the Hoy Spirit, so Christians today are unable to preach and teach in power or live according to the demanding rules of Christ unless they are similarly filled and empowered. This book explains in simple terms the sovereignty of God, the spiritual nature of life with God, and man's need of God along with the danger of attack by the evil one, the importance of sacrifice, what hell is and how spiritual power from on high can be received. It is essential reading for those wanting to more fully understand the deeper things of God and be a better servant and disciple of Christ.

  • - A Study of Matthew 11
    av Peter Russell-Yarde

Received this review of Truth & Doubt was received via an email from Elisha Ogbonna, a Nigerian living and working in CanadaThis is my intended review post.Profound, Expository, Refreshing and Humbling Written by divine guidance and inspiration, Truth and Doubt: A Study of Matthew 11, is an outstanding masterpiece for Christian leaders, believers and any who has struggle with tough questions about Christian faith and life. The use of historic facts combined with scriptural references made this book an amazing Bible study material. This book in particular answered the following questions for me: Jesus' paradoxical statement that the least in the Kingdom of God is greater than John the Baptist after saying that he is the greatest among the prophet that came before him. The historical fact about the Samaria and Jewish differences and how they lead up to God's outreach for everyone. The Pharisees, Sadducees and the Scribe dogmatism and unbending approach to scriptural injunctions as inspired by the Holy Spirit including reason for their relentless effort to sideline Jesus Christ while refusing to humble themselves. John the Baptist mental struggle with the apprehension of the reason for Jesus' supposedly lack of immediate action toward his incarceration. The justification of Jesus' anger towards people doing business inside the Temple. Furthermore, many questions that theologians and regular people of faith are often in contest with when they talk to non-believers are answered in a clear, straightforward and satisfactory manner; questions such as virgin birth, trinity, the destruction and rebuilding of the temple, Jesus declaration of His power to forgive sin, His death, resurrection and position as our High Priest and many more. The use of English is well structured and understandable. The correlation of Old and New Testament in this study material is extraordinary. I recommend it for theologians, pastors, church leaders, Christians and people interested in learning about Jesus life, ministry and the salvation that He brings. It is OK for a believer to doubt! It is the way they handle doubt that matters, and that is dependent not only on the strength of the individual's trust and faith in God, but their available support and willingness to think things through. John the Baptist was God's appointed messenger announcing the imminent arrival of the Messiah to Israel. His ministry came to an abrupt end when Herod put him in prison. It was then, when he had time to think over his six months of energetic ministry, that a niggling doubt came into John's mind, so he immediately sent disciples to Jesus to ask Him the question, "Are you the One that is to come or should we look for another?" just to make sure he had done the right thing in identifying Jesus as the Messiah whom he had never seen. The answer he received from Jesus and the way Jesus challenged the crowds around Him about what they thought of John and his message is the subject of this fascinating study of Matthew 11.

The church in Colossæ, which was a town on the banks of the river Lycus and on a trade route, consisted mostly of Gentiles who were converted by the preaching of Epaphras and others who became believers under the preaching of Paul, so although he never went to Colossæ, Paul was their spiritual father. When incarcerated in prison Epaphras visited Paul in Rome telling him of the doctrinal problems there which resulted in this letter. The objective of the letter was to counteract the false teaching of Jews by clearly setting out the believer's clear standing, by their conversion, of being in Christ alone, the majesty of His person and the completeness of the redemption wrought by Him. This news should encourage them to conform to the example of their risen Lord in their daily lives. It is clear, with the mention of food and drink, or festivals such as new moon and sabbath days (2:16), that Jews who could not rid themselves of "a shadow of things to come" were ignoring the fullness of the new covenant in His blood, and believing in a Christianity that was mixed-up with Oriental theosophy and the worship of angels. With those confused and confusing thoughts they were confusing the Gentile members of the church. Also, the indigenous Gentiles had a tendency in their worship to include the mysticism of Cybele which inclined them to more readily receive the incipient Gnosticism of the Judaizers which later developed into the strangest heresies.Paul's letter encouraged them to put off the old man of sin and, if they were raised with Christ, they should set their minds on those things that are above not on the things of the earth. He told them that in believing in the Lord Jesus they had died to the old self and were raised up with Him in the Spirit. This book expounds the truth of Paul's teaching to the Colossian church, providing valuable insights into how the church should act out their belief today.

  • - Illustrating God's Plan of Salvation

The unique design of the Tent of the Meeting (or Tabernacle of Moses as its is also known) which was built strictly according to God's instructions, clearly illustrates how God proposed to provide man with a permanent means of salvation. From the moment it was designed and constructed by those gifted by God, the Jews had before them the key to the complete plan of salvation. This book looks at the layout of the tabernacle court and tent to discover all the information necessary to explain why the Messiah had first to come as a suffering servant and how, through understanding God's word, it is possible for any member of the human race to become spiritually alive to God and enter into a real and dynamic relationship with Him. It explains in detail why the virgin birth was vital to the sinlessness of the Messiah, and why the temple curtain was rent in two from top to bottom at the time of the Messiah's death on the cross.Covering the scripture from Genesis to Revelation, this book takes the reader from the moment of Adam's creation, through the fall, the calling of Abram and the development of the nation of Israel under Moses and entering into the Promise Land.It details how the design of the tabernacle and its services were meant to bring the Jews into an intimate and spiritual relationship with their God. The arrival of the Messiah, His life, teaching and cruel death was all foretold in its design. This book is a revelation of truth providing the seeker after truth with more answers than questions. The rabbi who commissioned the work has describes is as awesome, stressing that it inspired in him both awe and wonder.

  • - Understanding the Revelation of John
    av Peter Russell-Yarde
    279

Revelation is a neglected book, yet it gives true believers information regarding the future that is essential to them and their faith in God.We read the news and if we are going on a long journey we read as much as we can about the route we are thinking of taking and the destination to check if there are any dangers of which we need to be aware. We only have one life, one opportunity to gain eternal life and yet so often we leave things to chance. We are told about the mind that controls the evil spiritual forces that surround us and of the weapons of warfare that could give us protection yet we leave them lying around in a neglected state, unused and ourselves open to danger. It is ridiculous! What a way of ensuring our future? Are we serious about God or do we prefer to play at our relationship with Him like children. This study of the book of Revelation is not definitive but it does seek to guide the novice through the book to give it meaning. Unless we study to show ourselves approved of God then we could well end up like the five foolish virgins locked out of heaven through our own neglect and self-inflicted ignorance. This book, "Seeing Into The Future: Understanding the Revelation of John" is a serious work that should be read by all those who are serious about their faith and desire to enter into God's rest.

The book of Hebrews, which is clearly directed at fellow Hebrews, is unique in that it deals with the sonship of Christ, His priesthood and sacrifice from a Hebrew perspective more thoroughly than any other book in the New Testament, making it essential reading for all those who want to have a deeper understanding of Christ's suffering, death, resurrection and ascension.. Almost the whole of this letter focuses on the exposition of first testament passages, using Jewish methods of interpretation common in synagogues of the day. However Paul (the assumed author for this book) differs from Jewish interpreters in that he sees Christ as the fulfilment of the first testament prophecies and teaching, emphasising that Christ is God's final word to man, making sense out of God's previous revelation, for by God speaking at various times and in many different ways shows the incompleteness of the first testament revelation. Central to the message of Hebrews is a comparison between Israel in the wilderness and the new church, between the covenant received by the children of Israel at Sinai and the new covenant in Christ's blood. It also explains why the high priesthood of Christ is superior to that of Aaron, in that it was established before the high priesthood of Aaron by the Son of God before His coming to earth as a man. The church on earth is related to God in heaven, just as Israel once stood before Him at Sinai, and just as God spoke to them so He has spoken to us, thus the disobedience of Israel in the wilderness after their meeting with God on Sinai is cited as an example for Christians to avoid. The covenant established at Sinai has been replaced by the better covenant established by Christ, because under the old covenant God could not be approached directly because of sin, and animal sacrifices merely covered over sin they did not totally cleanse the sinner. Through the second covenant, however, because of the selflessness of Christ dying as a perfect man in place of man, complete forgiveness has been made available to those truly repentant through the forgiveness of sin and even the cleansing of the conscience of the sinner, allowing complete and free access to God through the Son. The graciousness of the new covenant makes our obedience to the will and purposes of God all the more important. In the letter the superiority of the new covenant, is demonstrated by a comparison between the Mediator of the new covenant and the mediators of the old. That is the angels, who were active in the giving of the law on Sinai (Acts 7:38; Gal. 3:19), and especially Moses, were the mediators of the old covenant. The priesthood and sacrifices as required by the old covenant were carried out by Aaron. Hebrews compares Jesus with the angels (1:1 - 2:18), Moses (3:1 - 6) and Aaron (4:14 - 10:21). These comparisons show clearly that Jesus surpasses the revelation of God given at Sinai. Indeed, as God's Son He is in a class by Himself and that the one who is the Son is also appointed to be the eternal high priest (5:1 - 10). By the obedient sacrifice of Himself, He has provided forgiveness, cleansing and access to God the Father, and is even now in heaven helping us as our advocate, which help the priesthood of Aaron was unable to provide. Finally, God's faithful servants, both priestly and non-priestly, provide us with examples of perseverance even in the most difficult and traumatic of circumstances, challenging us to endure in our day (11:1 - 40). However Christ Himself is our prime example (12:1 - 11).

This book is partly a response to The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, given to me by a friend who is seeking for God. He asked me to let him know my thoughts on the book. My friend is struggling but looking in all the wrong places. It has also been written for the benefit of another friend, one who is a confirmed atheist yet he appreciates my writing and theology. The title of the book says it all. It is easy to discount God until the search for Him by individuals is not only serious but focused on God without being distracted by the thoughts of men who think they are essential to the academic world, even in the area of the Christian faith. At someone's suggestion the first chapter is called The Dawkins Delusion which explains why Dawkins' book is so fatally flawed whilst offering counter arguments that have provided good reasons for the subject matter of this book. Starting with why the acceptance of God is true reality, the book progresses through an explanation of God as Father of the human race, the Israelites being God's chosen channel of communications with mankind, and identifying messengers of God. A chapter has been included in edition 2 on the prophet Jonah because so many discount him as a real prophet. One reason is because they cannot believe that he was brought to life by God after drowning as he sank to the bottom of the sea and was then transported back to land in the belly of a big fish, possibly a whale. Proof is given in the book that such a thing isn't so fanciful as some might think. There is also the interesting fact that Jonah's book is the only first testament book that does not mention, or be concerned with Israel. As the Lord Jesu Christ specifically referred to Jonah, it is important to understand why the book is very important and helps us understand why it can be said that 'Assuredly God IS!' The consistency of the Bible and the way the first testament is so vital to the second testament is highlighted in the chapter on Isaiah 53, and how all that happened in the life of Christ is so accurately prophesied. The purpose of His sacrifice is also considered. Then follows a chapter on the importance of the purity of faith, which focuses on part of the book of Ezekiel, which we would do well to think about very carefully. The final chapter focuses on the glory that is to come, according to the Revelation of John. This book provides clear and unambiguous instructions on what the Christian faith is all about and how to find God, with substantiated proof that Assuredly God IS!

  • - A Guide for Doubters
    av Peter Russell-Yarde
    129,-

The Bible is under attack not only from non-believers and members of other faiths and of none, but from the church itself. Yet it is our instruction book, written by the prophets under the inspiration of God the Holy Spirit and should be taken seriously as God's truth to mankind. It is how people acknowledge God that matters. If we accept Him as the Supreme Being who created all that is and is the source of all power and love, then we will accept what has been written in His name as sacrosanct and not attempt to change the meaning of any part of that word to suit the social way of life of any one generation, as many are trying to doThe centrality of the Lord Jesus Christ is vital to our understanding of the Bible because He is mention throughout the whole of our Bible, from the beginning of Genesis to the end of Revelation and therefore He is the central theme of scripture in both the Judeo and Christian sections of the Bible. Our relationship with God depends totally on our understanding and acceptance of scripture, from the way in which God sought to teach the Hebrew nation in the First Testament, to the teaching and sacrifice of Jesus in the Second Testament. What we must not do is to alter any wording in the Bible to suit our own situation; rather we need to change our way of life to fit in with God's will, not the other way around.Unless we are prepared to spend time studying the scriptures then we will have no idea of what God is seeking to teach us through the prophets or through the achievements of His Son. The study of the arrival and life of the Saviour along with His death, resurrection and ascension is very illuminating and has transformed many a life. This book, Christ IS King, is one such study that seeks to understand, using both testaments, the spiritual aspect of what Jesus Christ came to do and ultimately achieve in providing salvation to all those prepared to fully believe and commit themselves to the Saviour. Written by a professional technical author whose task was to write often-comprehensive documents with clarity, this work is written in plain language that will enable all to understand deep truths.

  • - Powerful Lessons in Numbers
    av Peter Russell-Yarde
    119,-

The book of Numbers and the activities of the Israelites have much to teach the believer of today. Their refusal, even in the light of all the proof God gave them regarding His ability to help and guide them, to believe in Him is almost beyond belief.Moses did not have an easy time leading such a disparate group of rebellious and obstinate unbelieving individuals. Even his sister and brother challenged his God given authority, yet the narrative clearly illustrated just how onerous a responsibility it was.By putting oneself into that situation and trying to understand why the people were so obstinately awkward can be very instructive, particularly if we ask ourselves if we are doing the same thing today.

After his imprisonment and flogging in Philippi, Paul travelled with Silas and Timothy to Thessalonica and with them, founded a church there. But after three sabbaths of debate in the synagogue, apart from a few Jews who believed Paul's message that Yeshua (Jesus) was the long-awaited Messiah, most of the Jews as a body rejected the gospel Paul preached. Those Jews who believed and a great number of proselytes, who were not so steeped in the historical Jewish religious dogma of the fathers and therefore more receptive to Paul's teaching, along with not a few of the leading women, joined Paul in the house of Jason, which was next door to the synagogue, where the word of the gospel reached out to the Gentile population. The seed of the gospel had been sown and found fertile soil, resulting in a church being planted and ministers appointed, and even more amazingly the new converts themselves became missionaries. By both word of mouth and example these new believers were extending the reach of the gospel in Macedonia, Achaia and elsewhere, such was their conviction of the truth of all that Paul had taught them.Sometime later Paul asked Timothy to return to Thessalonica to continue teaching them the deep truths of the gospel and how to live a life worthy of God. It was Timothy who, joining Paul in Corinth where the letters were written, gave a glowing report of the church there. Letter 1 Paul starts by complimenting them on their work of faith and labour of love and patience of hope in the Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father. He assessed their relationship and mentions both how he and his companions brought the gospel to them, and their readiness to accept the message. After three sabbaths in the synagogue, a few Jews accepted Paul's message that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah. However, many proselytes, God fearers were ready to not only hear the word but also receive it and consider its implications. With many of them going with Paul to the house of Jason next door to the synagogue, such was the excitement of this new meaningful gospel to them that leading women of the city and Gentiles were attracted to it also.Paul challenges them to please God in their daily living, that the message of the gospel is not for belief only, but had to become part of the structure of their lives and the way they went about their daily living. He also comforts them by pointing out the hope of the resurrection, warning them to be prepared for the coming again of the Lord Jesus at any time, which was to keep them on their toes.Letter 2 In this shorter letter Paul first rejoices in the endurance of the Thessalonians in spite of the persecution they have suffered, for such endurance is a sign of God's righteousness. However, he was concerned about the misunderstanding regarding the second coming of Jesus which had caused some to stop working to prepare themselves for that event. He tells them that they must not be disturbed by all the news that was going around that the second coming was very near, for no one knows when He will come again, only the Father. And that before his return a great rebellion will occur led by a person who will claim to take the place of God, but Jesus will come and utterly destroy him and his followers. In the meantime, they should stand firm on the teaching they had received which was the truth of God, in order to receive God's encouragement and secure their hope in Him, to pray for strength in their faith, their work for God and the spreading of the gospel message. He ends with personal greetings and a benediction.
