The entire country suffered during the great depression. Food and money became hard to find and businesses started closing left and right. Once millions of peoples life savings vanished with the great depressions arrival, one of the many farming families struggling to stay afloat, the Collins resorted to breaking the law. Of course, in doing so there would also be a price to pay. Not being able to hire help when the harvesting season arrived, the children were recruited to help with the many chores and stayed home rather than going to school. During one harvesting season while the kids were at play, Joshua Collins begins falling in love with one of the neighboring girls he has known most of his young life.

Bruce Hobs is a tow truck driver trying to keep up a family tradition of being a wrecker service provider and hopefully owning his own tow truck one day. His grandfather and even his father were both tow truck drivers and had provided a good living for their families. It was a very stressful full-time job that didn't leave much time for himself. No sooner than Bruce can finally take ownership of his very own tow truck that his life quickly turns upside down with troubles.

Carson City Nevada was just getting over a very violent time in its history and the town was slowly rebuilding itself. Residents were trying to move on after all the outlaws and gang shootings, burning down of buildings and a slew of senseless murders. Coal Harbor is a small island located off the lower western corner of Alaska. It is a small fisherman's paradise and also serves as a resort in the warmer seasons. During the harsher winter months though, the island can remain under frozen ice and snow for up to six months. With winter fast approaching it appears to be just a typical winter season coming on to the remaining forest rangers Kevin and Betty whom are also in a relationship together. After a Learjet crashes into a snowbank the small quiet island suddenly becomes very dangerous. It is learned that the aircraft cargo could be a large shipment of cocaine and the survivors could be wanted drug smugglers.
