It analyses Raleigh's position as the focal point for 'The School of Night', a speculated group of literary, philosophical and scientific figures including prominent individuals such as Christopher Marlowe, George Chapman and Thomas Herriot.

Andrew Marvell (1621-1677) lived through the English Civil War, and the restoration of the monarchy. He was politically active in Parliament, but is best known for his verse.
