After finishing my book "A Common Citizen's Comments on Dr. Xi", I decided to put down my pen and begin my journey into a quiet senior's life. However, the disruption caused by COVID-19 and the abnormal phenomena in the 2020 general election caused a great shock in me. I felt so indignant that I could no longer stay quiet, which thus pushed me to start writing again. The following essays were written in Chinese as I was turning 75 years old, and which also included my recollections and emotional sentiments during my youth. They will be combined into a new collections of works, my 11th book, titled "The Colorful Leaves in Late Fall".There are also a few emotional recall essays on my child hood, my parents, my teacher as well as the hard time under the leadership of the Communist party. At my age now, some of my friends have started to be passing away, which cause me very sorrow, as well as deep desolate. Hence there are also mourning article and poet in memory of my old friend. Most of my articles were firstly contributed to a few websites, in order to discuss with all kinds of people, whom I even did not know, their feedback and criticism turned out to be an encourage and impellent to me . Hence, I also make a collection of their reflection to my writing. I certainly wish the new readers of my books will like to read and speak out their opinion.

"Hou Long Xu Yi Shi " is a collection of stories about the people and ambience at a poor corner in the south part of Beijing around and after 1950s. The book reproduced the common life of the impecunious people who crowded in the narrow alleys(hutong)and multi-family courtyards(dazayuan), as well as their misfortune in the political movements. These stories reflect my hard feeling, sympathy, and strong nostalgia. The stories in the book are a true illustration of history. The readers will find themselves crossing space-time and landing in a special coordinate system. Among these laborers, each of them was just like a small boat floating on the sea wobbly, some even struggled under the water.

As a physicist, the author has particular interests in Chinese literature and history. After retirement, he got enough time to pick up his hobby in liberal arts. Starting from the language culture, then, to history and music. He spent several months on a paper ¿Talking on Chinese Words and Characters¿, in which he emphasized the beauty of the Chinese language, as well as the difficulties encountered in the digital age. Following that, he finished a series of papers discussing Chinese verbs, prepositions, as well as idioms, in comparison with English. In the article on Chinese history, he is trying to generalize from the data in different dynasties in a way similar to statistical analysis, and thus to reach some commonsense conclusions. Two papers about the popular songs in the 1950s and 1960s, as well as a discussion about Beijing Opera are also collected in the book.
