"For every digital advancement that is positive for our worship; there is an equal and opposite negative temptation to impede our worship". The apostle Paul said it this way, "So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me" (Romans 7:21). Use your digital devise to quickly look up a scripture and just as quickly a pop-up ad meets your sightline. Digitally look up the definition of a word and several un-related, but alluring articles appear. Yield to the temptation to take just a minute or so to check your e-mail or social media account, and a "breaking news" alert suspiciously shows up. And so on, and so on. Not to mention the ever-present temptation to play just one more digital game. Scripture tells us to, "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (I Peter 5:8). Worshipping God in the Digital Age is a series of discussions with suggestions for avoiding impediments to digital age worship and offers ways to use our digital devices effectively to the glory of God. The book is written from the perspective of an ordinary pew worshipper. He writes to encourage readers to prayerfully study and examine the scriptures for themselves (in addition to hearing and learning from others) to gain a better appreciation and understanding of the Word of God.

Many, many books have been written on church worship by pastors, ministers, deacons, elders, evangelists, theologians and biblical scholars. This book is not one of them. It is written by an author who loves the Word of God and shares what he has learned from the viewpoint of a worshippers' reading and study of the scriptures. In a way, you could say that this book is "a view from the pew".Of more importance then is not who or what the author is, but who and what he is not. He is not a pastor, minister, deacon, elder, evangelist or theologian and, most importantly not a biblical scholar. He is simply a worshipper called to worship God in spirit and truth. As such, he writes from the perspective of a church worshiper who examines how he would be able to worship God in any imperfect church. Firmly believing that in order to do so, (in addition to hearing and learning from others) he must prayerfully study the Word of God for himself, and strongly encourages others to do likewise.
