  • - Special Memories
    av Joy Devos
    279

Joy DeVos has written a tale of two unlikely friends, a pet lamb, Little Guy, and his shepherd, Levi. The two friends love spending time together under their favorite tree, which they call their Remembering Tree, sharing memories of the past. Good memories and not so good memories, they are all open for discussion between these two friends. Some of their memories include: Little Guy getting stuck in some berry bushes, Little Guy getting attacked by a wolf, Little Guy leading some of his friends on an adventure that almost cost the life of one of them, and Little Guy going to school, are just a few of the adventures Little Guy has on his insatiable quest to learn new stuff. Little Guy has a difficult time going about learning new stuff the right way. He and his shepherd, spend a lot of time going to visit the Jesus Shepherd and praying for help. After sharing their memories, and before heading back to the sheepfold, the two friends decide to take a short nap under their tree. When they awake, they have a BIG surprise awaiting them. This story of unconditional love, honesty, trust, forgiveness and friendship, helps instill these qualities in children aged five to ten as well as younger children who have the book read to them. You will love reading about Little Guy. One reader remarked that she would not eat lamb chops again after falling in love with Little Guy.

God had a Plan The Plan was a Lamb The Lamb was a Man The Man was Jesus---Pat Huskey "How can this be?" is about God's Plan. The book is appropriate for kids between the ages of 3 and 93. The story takes the reader through Christmas and Easter as seen through the eyes of the shepherds and the sheep with a touch of whimsy thrown in just for fun. The book, Little Guy, is written to appeal to children between the ages of 3-12. It tells the story of a little lamb who loves learning new stuff and because he is nosy, he gets himself into several predicaments. His shepherd, Levi, takes Little Guy to the Jesus Shepherd in prayer to get answers to the problems that Little Guy creates. The story is entertaining as well as helps instill some core Christian values such as the importance of honesty, the importance of prayer, (when in trouble pray hard), a love of learning, actions have consequences and unconditional love. The reader will learn that answers and problems are often solved in unexpected and surprising ways. The unique aspect about this book is that the reader is asked to do the illustrations. When the reader finishes reading the book and creating the illustrations, then he/she will write his/her name on the cover where it says, Illustrated by____________. I am planning on asking readers to send me a copy of one of their best illustrations, and I will compile my favorites into a future book about Little Guy.
