Confessions of a Madman is a cosy mystery/crime series of four books, literally about confessions of a madman, or is he really mad? Maybe his confession is true and some strange crime is happening. These books are available as a box set and individually. You need to read all four to complete the story.Amanda and Jade, two policewomen who work in different towns, but who have been friends for years, meet for a friendly chat. By chance they each tell a story of a strange confession they had to listen to. Both unbelievable confessions are just about identical. This immediately makes one thing obvious to them - there has to be a criminal somewhere doing something no one had ever heard of before. The two confessions are too alike for it to be a coincidence.Their first problem is to prove these two incidents were committed by the same person while showing beyond doubt it isn't some sort of elaborate hoax.As the story follows the investigation, the women hear more about some of these 'mad confessions' and go on the trail of the man responsible. Eventually all the pieces start to fall into place, but there is one thing they can't get a handle on, no matter which way they look at it. That is how the criminal chose his victims.Book 1 follows the two policewomen as they try to find other, similar cases, and this is hard. Confessions of a madman are often not accurately recorded by many police departments. The women are given a week to come up with something that proves there really is a serial criminal is doing these terrible things. They search in obvious ways, contacting police forces all over the country, but with little or no results. Then one of them has an idea about how to find more cases of this type.Soon they have other, similar circumstances relating to crimes, but their boss isn't convinced, as many of the confessions came from people who ended up in insane asylums.Book 2Book 2 sees Amanda and Jade interrogating one of the so-called mad-men, who seems to be quite sane, providing he is telling the truth. The two officers believe he is.There is also some turmoil and upset in the station, but as that gets sorted, so a call comes that is the one they have been waiting for. They rush off to speak to yet another man who wants to confess to the same thing. This time he isn't thought to be insane.Book3Amanda and Jade finally find a possible connection between all the victims, although they are still too far from being able to identify the kidnapper and person they consider the real killer.A computer hacker is called in to help, and he manages to narrow down their search to three people. That is a big help, but still not enough to arrest anyone.Eventually all the pieces start to fall into place, but there is one thing they can't get a handle on, no matter which way they look at it. That is how the criminal chose his victims. They appear random and unconnected.Book 4A policeman goes undercover to try to catch the criminal, but things do not go according to plan and he gets kidnapped.Very slowly bits and pieces start to narrow down who the kidnapper might be, until eventually a well organised sting lets them catch him and find out why and how he did the things he did.

Inherited Mystery is a cosy, light, mystery series of books about various inheritances that didn't quite work out the way the recipient thought they would. As well as intrigue, odd twists and deceit, there is also a sprinkling of romance. In book 1 of Wine and Lies you meet Georgina Wakefield who always loved wine and knew that she wanted to make it her career.. She studied with dedication until she reached the point where she was accepted at the most prestigious institute in the world the Union de la Sommellerie in Paris. As she starts preparing to go to Paris, her parents explain to her they have a secret they need to tell her. They had always said her paternal grandfather was dead, but actually he was very much alive. He lives in France, under the assumed name of Comte de Chivagnon, in a massive château where he owns and runs a vineyard making Allisette, a famous wine, among the top in its field. At first she was upset about this, but the more she found out about how her grandfather rans his business, the more she understood the reason for the lie. A couple of days before Georgina is due to receive her much coveted certificate in Paris, a lawyer visits her with the news that her grandfather has died. To everyone's astonishment, he has left everything to her. That literally means everything. She inherited the château, the vineyard, the winemaking and bottling business. Included in her inheritance is the count's sixth wife, along with her three children, who were all currently living in the château and running the business. He also leaves her a letter, which is not very pleasant. Georgina, along with Fabian, a good friend and fellow wine expert, and Martin, a bodyguard she thinks she may need, she sets off for the château, prepared for a little bitterness. What they encounter is open hostility, some might even say blatant warfare. The worst culprit of this behaviour is the fake countess, who not only is rude and unpleasant, but also counteracts Georgina's orders. She does only what she wants, regardless of the fact the house is no longer hers and she is now actually a guest. The undercurrent of tension builds as they head towards an inevitable conclusion. What isn't inevitable yet, is who is going to suffer the most for it.
