In his Introduction to Being and Time, Martin Heidegger sets the foundations of his existential turn by understanding Dasein's way of being, existence, as the necessary principle of all ontology. Understanding Dasein's being, and how being in general relates toit, so it came to be the primary task (Fundamentalaufgabe) of all ontological meditation.
