As usual, Harri finds time to talk to her readers as she is always free with her thoughts. You'll find some of Harri's pratfalls in this book are quite entertaining if not downright laughable. Yes, the book is about a "who done it?" mystery as the plot weaves in and out and law enforcement tries their best to locate the villains. Of course nothing goes according to plan. The Bedlington siblings can't seem to figure out who's looking one moment and who's missing the next. Quirky Harri finally exclaims, "I'm tired of being little miss nice girl!" What's going on? Nothing is ever what it seems. Enjoy this book. Harri always tells a good story.Remember, as Darla says, "You might cry or smile about the past, hope for the future, but today, the present, is the only day you can have fun.”

This is another book by Kate Herriott that you must not miss! Can you guess the shenanigans that Harri will get up to in this fourth book? I doubt it. She has new vistas and new people to conquer as well as new murders to solve. Discover a different region as Harri takes you with her on vacation. You may even learn something new along the way. As you read this book, you'll be thinking that these stories should be turned into a television series. Harri is her usual wacky self. You'll laugh at the luggage scenes. You'll have tense moments after the search scenes wondering what will happen next. You'll get caught up in the mystery details.  You won't want to put this book down.  The cigar-chewing sheriff doesn’t appear very fond of Harri and has some new names for her. But who else can have this much fun, get into this much trouble, and somehow still be able to help with solving a murder or two, except for Harri Bedlington? Her narrating voice is so full of personality that it soon has you effortlessly involved with her in the mystery. Harri is a loveable character, a bit quirky, but somehow she appears to be able to put two and two together and come up with four. How does she do that?Kate Herriott has another winner with this fourth book, as with her previous books. Her storylines are so well achieved. She mixes mystery with detail, ridiculousness with sincerity, and poignancy with laughter. You won’t be bored as each book she has published is entirely different from the last book, with the exception that Harri and a few of her cohorts are alive and well in each one.

"And Then There Were Twelve," finds our quirky Harri in new surroundings and new circumstances but still in the thick of things. She continues to work with Bolen to aid in solving crimes. Harri continues in this book with her inner monologues as Kate Herriott tackles serious situations with sincerity and comedy all mixed together. You'll enjoy Harri's suggestion box ideas for the Judge, like truth buzzers. According to Harri, her neighbors, Rose and Florence, "swallowed my stories with as much relish as I swallowed their food." This book is a great read for mystery and a little laughter. And, the good news is that you won't have to wait long as the fourth book is on its way to the publisher.
