At first it was difficult for me to understand what a "glimmer of change" can be? After finishing the book I then understood its more about the "how" changes take place. "Change" can quickly and dynamically alter one's path in life as events unfold. Being hopeful for a new life-growing stronger and confident-following one's dreams can all be subtle insights or glimmers we are gifted with as we grow through the struggles or complications or just daily interactions of our lives. Each of the books in this series has inspired me with great joy and wisdom in navigating the events of my life. The reconstruction years following the Civil War changed how people lived. These years were not even on my radar as far as imagining how events took place following so much loss of life, the rebuilding of the economy, and unfortunately experiencing racism and inequalities. I also was inspired by the shared passion and unity of stakeholders in fighting for equality. I fact-checked these events and I am so pleased to report that the author not only captured factual details of these riots but she connected me to that time period as the characters I have grown to love were integrated into these events. It didn't take long before the people realized this president didn't have the same ideals as their past leader and the country would have a difficult time in trying to heal. Ginny Dye is a great historian and story teller. I love her characters in this book. I feel like a part of their family and want them to thrive and achieve their goals of reconstructing their lives and help the freedmen and people of the south that were defeated after the war. I have learned how people must have felt going through the hard times of despair and pain, mentally, as well as physically. This is a story of people, men and women, black and white, northerners and southerners. This was a time when freedmen wanted their rights and women wanted to vote and the haters of course making this virtually impossible. Love, passion, romance, hate, despair, cruelty and happiness will rip through you while reading this wonderfully written book. I suggest you get a copy of the first books in this series. Monica McDaniel Review: I have just finished reading this, the 6th book in the Bregdan Chronicles and I have one word to describe the whole sage...MAGNIFICENT!! I am a big fan of books from the Civil War Era and this saga is without a doubt the BEST account I have ever read of that period of time. All of the characters are developed so colorfully and realistically that I have become very attached to them. As we all know, it was a time of great upheaval in our country, and these people live this upheaval every day of their lives. It was a dangerous time as well. The horror of the war is not downplayed one bit in these books...I would have been very disappointed if it was. I cannot WAIT for book #7! Diane B

I have learned a lot about the beginnings of the Civil war. This is also a book of romance which gets torn by the war. I never realized how horrible the war was and how the conditions in the field hospitals were unimaginable. Be sure and start with the first book. I know you will get lost in the Bregdan Chronicles by Ginny Dye. I must add that Ginny Dye is an excellent writer and she researched her material thoroughly. You will never be bored. Review: Another amazing read in an amazing series! I could tell you the research is accurate and that does help make these books excellent and authentic. I could tell you the characters are so wonderfully written that you cheer them on and scold them at the same time. I could tell you that you become so engrossed in every facet of these books that your imagination allows you to "feel" everything the author is trying to convey. I could tell you that you lose all track of time while reading these books. It's "one more chapter" until about 3 am! I could tell you all this and so much more. However, the most important thing I should tell you is to buy this series of books. You won't be sorry!!! Review: Book 4 finished and I can't wait to get started on number 5! This book carried more suspense than the first book, as it should!! The author is taking on the Civil War in a way I have never read before. The author is covering every aspect of the Civil War. South perspective, slave perspective, North perspective, abolitionist perspective, and some I would never have dreamed of. These books are thought provoking and uplifting. The author reels you in and you feel everything! You can just see the smoke of gunpowder hanging over the battles, you could feel Ike Adams' hatred. I could say so much more, but "Spring Will Come" (book #3) has finished downloading. I must continue with this absolutely phenomenal series! Review: This is the second book in the Bregdan Chronicles and in my opinion, the series just keeps getting better! I'm not usually a fan of a series, but I'm hooked on this one. The individuals from the first book just keep getting more stimulating. Their storyline, as well as their characters, keep evolving. Add to that, the introduction of new individuals and scenarios and you have the recipe for a book that you can't put down. Again, this book comes with a high recommendation from me. All ages will enjoy. It could be read separately from the first because the background is expanded on sufficiently enough that you could pick up the plot, but I do recommend starting with the Storm Clouds Rolling In for maximum enjoyment. Just a warning though, I stayed up till 1 a.m. because I just had to find out how this one ended
