    "Bleak House" is a multi-faceted novel that combines social commentary, satire, and intricate storytelling. The story is narrated by an omniscient and somewhat sardonic voice.The novel begins with a description of a never-ending legal case, Jarndyce and Jarndyce, which has dragged on in the Court of Chancery for many years. This case serves as a central symbol of the inefficiency, corruption, and injustice of the legal system in Victorian England.The plot follows the lives of several characters whose fates are intertwined, directly or indirectly, with the Jarndyce and Jarndyce case. The central figure is Esther Summerson, an orphan who becomes the ward of John Jarndyce, one of the main beneficiaries of the disputed inheritance. Esther is a kind and virtuous young woman who navigates the complexities of her own mysterious past while interacting with a diverse cast of characters.The novel explores various social strata, from the aristocracy to the working class, and Dickens highlights the stark class distinctions and inequalities of the era. It introduces a wide array of memorable characters, including the quirky and bizarre Mr. Krook, the devoted but eccentric Miss Flite, and the villainous lawyer Mr. Tulkinghorn.As the plot unfolds, mysteries and secrets are revealed, and characters' lives become increasingly entangled. The novel delves into themes of injustice, charity, the impact of the legal system on individuals, and the complexities of human relationships."Bleak House" is celebrated for its intricate plotting, vivid characterizations, and its exploration of social and moral issues. Dickens's satirical and critical examination of the legal system and his compassionate portrayal of the struggles of the less fortunate are central to the novel. It remains a classic work of literature that continues to be studied and appreciated for its profound insights into the human condition and the societal challenges of the Victorian era.

    The simple fact was, that Oliver, instead of possessing too little feeling, possessed rather too much; and was in a fair way of being reduced, for life, to a state of brutal stupidity and sullenness by the ill usage he had received.

    A tale of two cities is Charles Dickens great historical novel, set against the violent upheaval of the French Revolution. The most famous and perhaps the most popular of his works, it compresses an event of immense complexity to the scale of a family history, with a cast of characters that includes a bloodthirsty ogress and an antihero as believable flawed as any in modern fiction. Though the least typical of the authors novels, a tale of two cities still underscores many of his enduring themes-imprisonment, injustice, social anarchy, resurrection, and the renunciation that fosters renewal.

    How do you like the Queen?" said the cat in a low voice. "Not at all," said Alice: "she's so extremely-" just then she noticed that the Queen was close behind her, listening: so she went on "-likely to win, that it's hardly worth while finishing the game." "and the moral of that is-be what you would seem to be'-or, if you'd like it put more simply-'never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you ere or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.'.

    "I have always thought of Christmastime, when it has come round...As a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long Calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.

    Era il tempo migliore e il tempo peggiore, la stagione della saggezza e la stagione della follia, l'epoca della fede e l'epoca dell'incredulità, il periodo della luce e il periodo delle tenebre, la primavera della speranza e l'inverno della disperazione. Avevamo tutto dinanzi a noi, non avevamo nulla dinanzi a noi; eravamo tutti diretti al cielo, eravamo tutti diretti a quell'altra parte ¿ a farla breve, gli anni erano così simili ai nostri, che alcuni i quali li conoscevano profondamente sostenevano che, in bene o in male, se ne potesse parlare soltanto al superlativo. Un re dalla grossa mandibola e una regina dall'aspetto volgare sedevano sul trono d'Inghilterra;

    Alla tempesta era successa da parecchio la più profonda calma, e la sera era piuttosto inoltrata ¿ finita la cena, il lavoro della digestione, sotto l'influsso della completa tranquillità, dell'allegra conversazione e d'una dose moderata d'acquavite e d'acqua, si svolgeva in quelle favorevoli condizioni in cui i dotti che discutono d'anatomia e di funzioni dell'organismo umano considereranno dovesse svolgersi ¿ quando i tre amici, o come si potrebbe dire, sia in senso civile che religioso, e con giusto riguardo e deferenza per il santo stato coniugale, i due amici (contando, il signore e la signora Browdie per uno solo) furono riscossi di uno strepito...

    Abitava una volta, in un luogo appartato del Devonshire, certo Goffredo Nickleby, un onesto uomo, che, in età piuttosto avanzata, messosi in capo di ammogliarsi, e non essendo abbastanza giovane o abbastanza ricco da aspirare alla mano di una ereditiera, aveva per pura affezione sposato una vecchia fiamma, la quale a sua volta se l¿era preso per la stessa ragione. Così due persone, che non possono permettersi di giocare a carte per denaro, si seggono tranquillamente a tavolino, e giocano una partita per mero piacere.

    Siccome il signor Crummles aveva, nella stalla dell'albergo, uno strano animale a quattro gambe, che chiamava cavallo, e un veicolo di modello incognito al quale dava l'appellativo di cocchio, Nicola continuò il suo viaggio la mattina dopo più comodamente che non avesse sperato, giacchè il direttore e lui occuparono il sedile davanti, e i due ragazzi Crummles e Smike si addossarono e si strinsero in quello di dietro in compagnia di una sporta di vimini, che una grossa tela cerata difendeva dalla pioggia, e che conteneva i due spadoni, le pistole, i codini, i costumi nautici e gli altri oggetti professionali dei predetti ragazzi.
