"A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens is a historical novel set during the French Revolution. The story follows the lives of Charles Darnay, a French aristocrat, and Sydney Carton, an English lawyer, who are both in love with the same woman, Lucie Manette. As the revolution unfolds, the lives of these three characters become increasingly intertwined, and they are forced to confront their own values, loyalties, and sacrifices. Amidst the chaos and violence of the revolution, Darnay is imprisoned in Paris and sentenced to death. Carton, who has long been disillusioned with his own life, sees an opportunity for redemption and decides to sacrifice himself for Darnay's sake. The novel culminates in a dramatic and emotional climax as Carton goes to the guillotine, reciting the famous line, "It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done." "A Tale of Two Cities" is a powerful and poignant story of love, sacrifice, and redemption set against the backdrop of one of the most tumultuous periods in history. It explores themes of social justice, personal responsibility, and the power of human connection in the face of adversity. Dickens' vivid descriptions of life in both London and Paris during the 18th century make the novel an immersive and unforgettable reading experience.

«Nada me induciría a semejante cosa.

Bleak House is a novel by celebrated English author Charles Dickens, first serialised and then published in book form in 1853. The complex plot, aided by a brilliantly depicted and engaging cast of characters, is in many ways a detective story, incorporating as it does elements of crime, mystery and romance.Set in 19th century London, this is an intricate story of the infamous "Jarndyce and Jarndyce" law-suit in which its characters are entangled, the cold and fog seeping from the Thames representing the confounding and pernicious effect on everyone involved in this legal quagmire.A powerful, absorbing literary classic, and an unmissable read.

The Pickwick Papers was Charles Dickens first novel, and became a comic masterpiece that catapulted its twenty-four-year-old author to immediate fame.Readers were captivated by the adventures of the poet Snodgrass, the lover Tupman, the sportsman Winkle &, above all, by that quintessentially English Quixote, Mr. Pickwick, & his cockney Sancho Panza, Sam Weller. From the hallowed turf of Dingley Dell Cricket Club to the unholy fracas of the Eatanswill election, via the Fleet debtor's prison, characters & incidents sprang to life from Dickens's pen, to form an enduringly popular work of ebullient humour & literary invention.

A Child's History of England was published as a serial in Dicken's magazine, Household Words between 1851-1853. He summarizes in separate chapters the reigns of England's monarchy, from Henry III to Richard III. Contrary to the novel's title, it's more suitable to adults than children, in our humble opinion. A Child's History was included in the curricula of British schoolchildren well into the 20th century, with successive editions published from 1851 to World War II.

The Uncommercial Traveller is a collection of literary sketches and reminiscences written by Charles Dickens, published in 1860-1861. In 1859 Dickens founded a new journal called All the Year Round, and the "Uncommercial Traveller" articles would be among his main contributions. He seems to have chosen the title and persona of the Uncommercial Traveller as a result of a speech he gave on 22 December 1859 to the Commercial Travellers' School in London, in his role as honorary chairman and treasurer. The persona sits well with a writer who liked to travel, not only as a tourist, but also to research and report what he found visiting Europe, America and giving book readings throughout Britain. He did not seem content to rest late in his career when he had attained wealth and comfort and continued travelling locally, walking the streets of London in the mould of the flâneur, a "gentleman stroller of city streets".

An exquisitely illustrated, luxury collector's edition of Dicken's holiday tale. This beautiful edition of Charles Dickens's perennial seasonal favorite offers exquisite illustrations of Marley's ghost, Bob Cratchit's slide down icy Cornhill, Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig's dance, and Ebenezer Scrooge himself. Arthur Rackham's color wash drawings and silhouettes, first published during the First World War, bring a threatening and haunting atmosphere to Scrooge's ghostly story. Rackham was a leading illustrator in the golden age of book illustration when groundbreaking techniques for color printing were developing fast. He illustrated over sixty books and specialized in children's classics and fairy tales. This landmark edition of A Christmas Carol helped to consolidate the idea of the Dickensian Christmas and the tradition of the Christmas gift book. It is a beautiful version of a classic story, which never ceases to be relevant to our times.
