2020 had begun as a catalyst. As with any new year, I had hoped that new prospects were on the horizon, and obstacles I had been navigating would soon clear. I had just started college in the fall, and after so many years of homeschooling, I felt entirely out of my element. I was making friends, exercising, learning to build a supportive community, studying vigorously, and pushing myself beyond what I'd ever done to find a me I was content with becoming. I had no idea in the beginning when I began writing poetry, that poetry would become my one consistent means of combating the horrors of the next few years, as quarantine and the worst mental health bout I'd ever experienced combined to completely flip my world on its head. But now, with a shockingly different overall viewpoint and a whole new cast of supporting characters, my coming-of-age phase has come to a close. I've made peace with the time I lost, connected with people who love me- the real me- and am learning authenticity as an override for the coping mechanisms I've relied on for too long. This anthology pulls together the best and the worst parts of growing up in clashing circumstances, delves into a headspace birthed from a year and a half of quarantine- and invites you to watch and feel how it is to dig yourself out of an emotional sinkhole.

Have you ever felt like nobody understands what you are going through or that nobody cares. But, Nobody does understand and Nobody cares, that's Mr Nobody. An entity that was created out of pain, hurt, and sadness, There was a young man that felt as if he wasn't supposed to be or that he didn't belong to this world, he was picked on and teased, made to feel like an outcast and no one else like him around, so who could he talk to. These feelings built up so strong and locked away started the growth of this entity that would grow stronger and stronger unaware of why. He was not Alexithymia but in fact an empath, all because he barely felt anything except what he was made from. Then had to live in a place alone in the dark just to watch the young man go through his life and hurts so bad, yet he could do nothing about it. Until the day came when the young man lost the only person that he felt remotely cared about him, the day he lost any good, trustin others, or what he knew love to be, when he lost his sister. That day the young man shut himself down and locked himself away within his own mind and to keep from whithering away into nonexistence, Mr Nobody took control for the first time, he was seeing the world in first person view for the first time and not looking through the eyes of his creator. He was able to interact with his surroundings as well as see and hear the humans that were all around but he was still stuck in the between where the people were more like shadows that could not touch him, see him, let alone would most care to even interact with him. This place where he dwelled is called Nowhere. A place where everybody was but they were not and this would be the coffin where he begins to help anyone that had so much hurt, sadness, torment, lonliness, or those who had deep rooted issues they knew not that they had that caused them to wrong others; in which some he would give a second chance to see if they would notice and change there ways or would they be delivered into their own personal Hells and these are the poetic short stories of his memories that he suffered and pain, suffering, loneliness, and what he does for those who will never know, hopefully they will help you. That's if you are able to handle what you may have done or went through, but now you'll know you was not ALONE!!!With guest writing from the offspring of Mr. Nobody, heAven Nobody (ehh-van), who is the same.

Another fine book from Meat For Tea Press. The collaborative collection Fill Me With Birds lilts and tilts as Scott Ferry and Daniel McGinn call and respond. "When an image keeps coming back to mind / there's no escaping"-they volley images and themes between poems, circling and returning and building. Jesus, family, a father who talks in his sleep, a mother rocking her child in "her milk-wet / arms" weave together on Ferry and McGinn's pages turning us all to "light and strata." You won't want to miss how each word "hums and dances." -Allison Blevins, author of Cataloguing Pain Fill Me With Birds filled me with delight. This fascinating collaboration between Scott Ferry and Daniel McGinn grabbed me from the first page! These two, seasoned poets play off each other, like a poetic game of call and response. They've created poems rich with imagery and juxtaposed with candor, pushing each other to new heights. Much like the birds, they soar. ] -Alexis Rhone Fancher, author of Brazen, Triggered, and The Dead Kid Poems

Petals of Unspoken Verses by Abby Jacobson is an incredibly powerful and heartfelt collection of poetry. It explores meaningful themes like seasons of change, finding oneself, the magic and struggles of parenting, mental health, stories of growth, finding one's power, and following the heart. A message from Abby: This book is truly a journey into finding one's power, believing in yourself, and never giving up. My advice? Find your people. The people that build you up and lift you up. The people that remind you of your worth even when you don't see it. Most importantly, keep going. The world needs you. Maybe even in ways that you may not yet be aware of.

    av Bruno Goatelli
    155,-

These poems are a collection of work formulated during one of the worst times in American history. A global pandemic which had effected many people. it especially hit incarcerated individuals such as myself. Being locked down while being locked down, forced individuals like me to find new ways to pass time, release stress, and express themselves. The pandemic allowed me to hone in on my word smith skills. I hope that this collection is enjoyed and felt by the masses as much of it comes straight from my heart.

Journey back to the mid-90s as preeminent scholar, writer, and poet, Maria K. Mootry, reflects on the movements that shaped a generation through the lens of literature and a deep love of language. In her own words: "Coming back to Illinois, this time central, not southern, from Iowa made me feel things I did not expect. So much History, yet a sense of being suspended, perhaps because we face a new millennium... Going to Lincoln, Illinois, and remembering pictures of Langston Hughes with his mother, who taught him to love literature, standing beside their house in Lincoln, pictures of Langston and high school friends grinning into a camera held by somebody who cared, stirred me. Langston, rooted here in the Midwest, reached out so much, to Harlem, Paris, Africa, Russia, Spain, -an ever-widening circle. I like to think I talk to him across that space and time." Mootry's place in academia is firmly established as the co-author of the definitive text about Gwendolyn Brooks, A Life Distilled. She also wrote the introduction to a popular edition of Edna Ferber's So Big, making her the first African-American scholar invited to do so for an author of the Midwestern American canon.

Deborah Coy's Super Crone is a witty and delightful response to the challenges women over fifty face in our society, along with meditations on the Northern New Mexico landscape and her enduring partnership with husband Jon.-Poetry Playhouse Publications In a rare collection that melds wit with poignancy, Deborah Coy's poems lead us through the well-lived and well-loved life of a woman who proclaims, "Shiny with age/I fiddle with the braille of past feasts." But these poems do not belabor what was. They emerge, sexy and irreverent, tender and familiar, to celebrate adventure and surprise, that is, to eloquently record a common yet extraordinary life. Fierce witness of the present, Coy insists she will "rise in the stirrups and shout, "hallelujah"-We are lucky to join the ride.-Barbara Rockman, author, "to cleave" Deborah Coy embraces the spirit of The Crone throughout this book, bringing her indelible wit and wisdom to the page as she looks back on childhood, family, sex, religion, and politics through the eyes of a woman who accepts aging and even the inevitability of death. Her trademark humor is on full display whether she describes herself ("my skin is / one size too large"), her rejection of God ("I thought I had love / but he unfriended me"), or those with Santa fetishes ("They croon 'Santa Baby' / when they see my package."). She can be cantankerous or sweet, erotic or serious-often all at once-like the Super Crone she envisions. Not just a hand-me-down crone of folklore, Coy creates her own folklore here, including in a series of Josephine poems. In contemplating her composted body, she claims "I will be delicious." Indeed, she already is. Taste! You won't be disappointed.-Scott Wiggerman, Albuquerque poet, instructor, editor, artist This is a consummate book of poetry written by an inspired, mature poet. Deb Coy has been writing all her life, and this is the book of a lifetime filled with enchanting and imaginative details of nature and deep insights into sensual and emotional experience. Her language is inventive and often clever in her turns of phrase and observations that surprise the reader. Highly original in the subjects she contemplates, Coy's style is brilliant. Super Crone is a penetrating exploration of the nature of aging and of nature itself in its solitary and overwhelming presence.-Carol Moscrip is the author of six chapbooks and Straw, poems, a Pushcart Prize nominee.

  • - Silloge poetica in versi sciolti
    av Ignazio Salvatore Basile
    125,-

Will I feel like this forever? Why can't I just heal?If you have ever asked yourself these two questions, this book is for you. Behind Glass Shadows is a powerful poetry collection that uncovers how the pain experienced in childhood leaves a profound impact on the human soul. Divided into three sections, Behind Glass Shadows delves into the lifelong struggle of confronting childhood wounds, learning to coexist with unhealed scars, and finding comfort in embracing them as an inseparable part of who you are. Each page is a step closer to understanding that healing is not a mandatory destination but a complex, evolving process. There is comfort in being stuck in your healing, finding relief in the ache of your past experiences, and embracing the shadows that shape who you are.
