We all get random thoughts at different times. Sometimes it is a passing thought we do not remember a moment after it occurred. Sometimes it is a long-lost memory we never thought we had in the first place. Sometimes it is a well-known deep memory we are trying to bury, or it might even be one we want to keep remembering. Sometimes it is merely a random thought of a random person or event we cannot even place in our past. Whatever it is, those thoughts are a part of us. Sharing them isn't always easy. This collection of poems describes some of the hidden thoughts that occurred to me at random times. They might be important, and they might not. They might make sense to you, and they might be just random babblings. Whatever it is, I hope someone will recognize themselves in these and feel inspired to keep onto those random snippets of thoughts. They are not showing up without a reason.

""In """"A Vo;ce For The Vo;celess,"""" Icarus, also known as Ben Sanchez, bravely explores the shadowy corners of life that society often chooses to overlook. This collection of poems is a courageous testament to the raw, unfiltered realities experienced by those whom society has neglected and made to feel worthless. Transcendent in its melancholy, the book is imbued with a tone that is dark, cynical, and yet therapeutic. Sanchez's balladic style offers a rhythmic quality that guides the reader through the emotive landscape of each poem. Rooted in his own experiences and those of others, his verses echo the unheard voices and untold stories hidden behind the human scars. Sanchez's poetry does not shy away from the darker truths of life, instead, it illuminates them, giving voice to the voiceless. His words create a canvas of shared human experience, painting a poignant picture of the struggles that are all too often pushed into silence. The unique strength of this collection lies in its raw and emotional truth-telling. These poems not only reflect Sanchez's own experiences, but they also bear the weight of others' untold stories. """"A Voice For The Voiceless"""" is not merely a poetic journey, but a bold statement, a call to acknowledge and address the unspoken realities that many grapple with daily. This book is an essential read for those willing to confront the often dismissed and uncomfortable truths of our society. It challenges conventions, stirs empathy, and ultimately, serves as a beacon for those who have been silenced. In """"A Voice For The Voiceless,"""" Ben Sanchez has created a moving symphony of raw, real-life experiences, seeking to change the world one poem at a time.""

You're about to read a collection of poems about...well, a house(symbolic, of course), specifically the one in my head. I hope you're willing to take this journey with me to see the neighborhood, rooms, experiences, and trips made to and from this house. This is a project I've had in mind for about a year now. I'm so thankful I took the plunge and pushed myself creatively. Whether or not this collection ends up being one you reread time and time, I hope it allows you to examine the rooms of your house filled with beautiful photos and decorated mantels. The rooms of your house you tidy up when guests come around, and the ones you keep a lock on that even you don't venture into.

The anthology of poems "Muffled Cries" is a constructive reaction to all that is wild and beautiful and waning in Nature. It speaks about the life of farmers in the villages and how it is a turbulent struggle and how the poet interacts with "Nature ", the great mysterious force. It is also a cry against the authorities for their tyranny of silence. Living by his wits, bargaining for time to reflect to find a resolution for the poet's dilemmas even when the music of nature resonates in his bones and vibrates in each nerve and muscle. Nature assures the poet that he is never alone as he watches the sun suck the daylight beyond the western hills. Yet at the end, how the poet fights back his own owe and astonishment on a day of dire clouds and restless winds on shrouded mountains

  • av Hannah Regel

The debut collection from Hannah Regel, whose forthcoming novel The Last Sane Woman is out this year with Verso."In OLIVER REED, growing-up happens naturally, clip clip clop, at the same time as it requires someone or something--line break or literal incision--to break you in. OLIVER REED is about how a pony body gets trained and a pony mind gets educated, over and over and over again. Time, in this book, loops more than it progresses: 'Sorry attends her Birth' after 'Sorry is a Girl, Grown Up.' I wish I'd read OLIVER REED at fourteen or eighteen; then again, I sort of feel like I did. This we already know: if looking at young girls never gets old, writing about them doesn't, either."--from the introduction by Olivia Kan-Sperling"In Hannah Regel's brilliant collection, OLIVER REED, the figure of the horse becomes an object for language's brutality and the all too familiar subjugation of women's voices, bodies, and labour. An impressive hyperbolic pastiche of pleasurable misbehavior guides a girl named Sorry through her own undoing while naming new tools for calculated resistance. 'Kill the language. Kill it. Get the shovel. We're making a belt.' I would gladly do whatever she tells me to do and wouldn't think of doing otherwise. Regel creates a new order for the ecstatic wreckage of obedience." --Cassandra Troyan, author of Blacken Me Blacken Me, Growled"Regel doesn't really sound like anyone. OLIVER REED introduces a poetic sensibility that seems as at odds with convention as it is equal to the moment: fully formed, virtuosic, kind of lethal. These are pitiless, discomforting poems that explore our own creatureliness with a deadly curiosity. Each is a transformation: the actor becomes a strange muse and guiding presence, to 'smoulder a mobile furnace'; the horse, another of the book's recurring figures, becomes more than an emblem of eros, labour and suffering; the young girl's bratty insolence turns defiant and stricken. The voice wills these changes into being even as she 'wills herself barren'. As much as they trouble and seduce, the poems are also watchful, vigilant - they seem to offer a means of protection. OLIVER REED is an astonishing, masterful first book." --Sam Riviere, author of 81 AusteritiesPoetry.

The poems in this collection beg the question of what leads up to and what is happening as things labor to come into being.According to the scholar and poet, Charles Stein: "Magic is pragmatic, or better performative, phenomenology. But phenomenology is the magic of ontogeny." Robert Podgurski's IN THE SHADOW OF THIS BRANCH is itself deeply invested in a thaumaturgy or wonder working of the magic of nascency. The poems in this collection beg the question of what leads up to and what is happening as things labor to come into being. As Michal Ajvas expressed in his novel, Empty Streets "I realized that in trying to express what a thing communicated, I was making a thing of the communication--an unusual and fantastic thing perhaps, but of what is not yet a thing, a matter from which things are formed." And yet, Podgurski is not so presumptuous as to assert he knows precisely what this process of emergence is, but that it warrants acknowledgment, further exploration, and to facilitate the possession of the senses in its sway."Robert Podgurski's poems deploy systems and structures akin to the sacred geometry of the temples and monuments he meticulously elucidates in his rare scholarly works. The micro-macro play in these poems show the center is everywhere."--Raymond Foye"If Robert Podgurski didn't exist, I think I would have had to invent him -- a practicing magician who also thinks about magic; whose careful scholarship and conceptual clarity are dimensions in an intensive, theurgic armamentarium; and a poet whose poems are hazards in a vital ontological probing. One enters them to the degree that one is correspondingly willing to hazard what might be found there: events in the living future of magic, a future not at all Not Yet, but more pertinently -- From Now On."--Charles SteinPoetry.

  • - the delicate lines to this place and time
    av Steve Anc
    179,-

If you are looking for poetry to introduce to a thoughtful soul, a lover of poetry, kids, schools, and humans in general, it is great to start with The Fragments of my mind: the delicate lines to this place and time, by Steve Anc. It's all about hope, hopelessness, love, self-care, power, fame, war, peace, and death. It also displays the beauty of poetry as part of wordplay, and it is also important to know that the poet (Steve Anc) recognizes and explores that aspect in this anthology. The touchstone of the old and modern literature has been utilized in this anthology and its best criterion for judging it is how the poet learned the art of blending it with modern literature within these pages.
