From his vantage point at Nighthawk Ranch overlooking the Thompson River, Ehor Boyanowsky distills his encounters with the people, plants and wildlife that the river valley nurtures into a mythology of her denizens, all beautiful, some dangerous, a few deadly. The poems range from formal verse to experiments with emerging technology to weave a legacy of life in the British Columbia desert.

This is a follow up to my previous poetry book "Open Secret" This book has a darker, more mature tone contrary to my previous book. The poems in this book were ones that I hesitated to reveal to the world. They were personal and cut deep to my core. When I wrote them, I used them as a form of therapy to cope with the hardships I was facing at the time. I hope my readers will approach this book with an open mind and heart.

In this book I chose a small selection of poems from Trauma Monsters: A Collection of Poetry to be "broken down" and analyzed. I decided to collaborate with Nick Fury, when I discovered his uncanny ability to dissect words to uncover what's hidden. His writing style is very intricate, so I knew he could take on this project even when he was unsure of himself. He was able to expose parts of my work that opened other emotional doors. I mean, I actually cried after reading how he interpreted my pieces. So that let me know, the healing process isn't over. (Side note: Poets if you've never had your work broken down in this way I highly recommend it. It will change the way you view your craft.)I hope this book can be used as a tool to help people understand the nuances that make up poetry.

  • - Haiku and Senryu Poetry

You might not associate haiku poetry with Switzerland, renowned for its luxury watches and chocolatiers. A landlocked destination for skiers and spa visitors, it lies in the heart of Europe. From the Swiss Alps to the Jura mountains via a network of green corridors, the impressive peaks and stunning lakes play host to a biodiverse population of wildlife. Wild lynx and resident wolves roam freely in the forests, protected by laws, that cover 32% of the country and also provide a home for rare flora and fauna. Such an abundance of nature cannot help but inspire poetic notions. Inhale the alpine mountain air, follow a breeze across a field of bowing grasses, close your eyes. Listen to the idle clonk of cowbells, the caw of crows and, in the far distance, a farm dog. Slowly exhale and open your eyes to the splendour of Switzerland. This collection of haiku and senryu poetry spans a decade and reflects scenes I have witnessed. It tracks my progress, learning as I go. This book is not so much a "How To" but more a "How I". I have studied the rules pertaining to short form poetry, but I tend to view them as guidelines only. Some I comply with, others I ignore. Poetry comes first. I am sharing these whimsical wonders with you to entertain and delight. Be they ordinary or remarkable, they are all special in their simplicity. Read them slowly to savour the essence.

  • - Collected Poems
    av Umohowet Taushi Yelayu
    145,-

"Erstwhile Orbits & Newformed Spheres is a collection of autobiographical poems composed by Umohowet Taushi Yelayu. Chronological and ordered by periods of life, it begins with youthful poems of ardent first-love and discovery. Before long, there is a shift to airy philosophy and the heavy esoteric, as life lessons and experiences slowly remove the rose-colored lenses. Emotional breakdowns and regroupings overtake the focus, leading to a renewed and blazing confidence, even if fault lines still rumble. Then, a diagnosis of mental illness followed by the desire for authenticity and true healing change the course of things once more. Here are powerful relationships as well as the deconstruction of those bonds; the development of strong religious beliefs and the painful losses of faith; transcendental philosophical brushstrokes and metaphysical pondering; declarations of personal strength and expressions of profound weakness. There is fragility & fortitude. Vulnerability, fear, anguish, melancholy, and misery. Power, courage, vigor, contentment. The result is a wholly human portrait."Pastel and Shell" discusses the dangers of giving oneself to others without reciprocity and "Your Palace In My Earth" expresses blind headfirst love. "The Prophet's Spice Truck" details a quasi-obsessive one-way-street friendship, while "Chinatown" paints the hopelessness of disillusioned youth. "Self-Righteous" sees an almost manic pride devolve into fetal desperation, as "The Naked God" is a request from a disciple begging to see a clearer sign of his Lord. "For Certain" is the doubt about everything that we all have in our quietest moments, and "Kinetic Slavery: Love As Religion" is a wild, Mephistophelean piece about the depths of depression. "Suihallawuiyou (or the Girl at Ota'lu'kume)", is an art piece that uses the Delphic, the mystical, and the arcane to weave an experience. "To Witness Totality" and "The Merkabah of Modernity" express the search for healing, wholeness, and freedom. The closing pieces "The Long-Haul of Survival", "I Name Myself", and "The New Orbit" are almost matter-of-fact in their commitment to finding joy, fullness, and alignment with purpose. These are pieces to be digested and, at the end of the collection, you will gain an insight into another's experiences which will reflect back to your own. This is no attempt at braggadocio, nor is it a pity-fest. It is an expression of the wholeness of life."

What the World Needs Now is a poetry book brimming with mysticism, oneness, solidarity, compassion, and gratitude. Three words that describe it best are heartfelt, soulful, and vivid."Let's quilt together humanityand swing each other in the cover of our skins.""What the World Needs Now is a powerful spiritual awakening in poetry book form. Each page brims with heartfelt sentiments, compassion, and beautifully mystical notions."In What the World Needs Now, I share a poetic version of me: my relationship with nature, my communication with my ancestors, my devotion to The One, the dance I share with my animals' powers Every time, I meditated with a question of some sort, stimulating my brain with possible wisdom that I consume like my medicine. What the World Needs Now is a poetic story that narrates my shamanic interests and background influences and helps ground my past with the present. A walk in the woods simply brings back a fundamental and ancient way of life. There is magic; there's something incredible; something is continually unfolding. This 11 - What the World Needs Now - changes when you trust the divine, the universe, god, and spirit guides on the spiritual path I have chosen to live by. With this poetry collection, I construct the masterpiece that am today. There is no such thing as a wasted day or a bad experience that we cannot turn into a good one. God puts us all in different battles in order to blend the you that awaits your enlightenment. This poetry collection reminds me that we give meaning to our lives from the curiosity of our imagination, not from the basket of our unsettled minds or indecisive desires. Mother Earth is a masterpiece that humanity must preserve in the museum stored in our hearts. We must hand this down to the next generation by how we educate them to treat the earth and themselves as well. This book has taught me that Earth is a playground, and if we don't play in it, we'll all be unhappy, depressed, bored, and continue to irrigate our problems. I have witnessed that when humankind walks through life without a purpose, we are more destructible in our state of mind and in the actions we take, painting over the land. Learning about myself and my relationship with God makes me a purposeful, richer human being.

This broad collection of songs, humour, poems, prayers and monologues came about because something in me got stirred up, and with that stirring came the desire to put pen to paper! It might have been a talk that resonated in me, or a snippet of conversation. That dear elderly lady complaining to the minister on the way-out of the meeting about all these new-fangled songs in the service - will never know what she inspired with, "It's Our Church"!I've found that God has a wonderful sense of humour. Psalm2:4 says, The One enthroned in heaven laughs! He must smile at some of the situations we get up to in church life - and probably weeps at others! I'm still on a journey with this; but my hope is that these poems and songs will encourage you as you read them and listen to them online. The accompanying website must make this book rare, if not unique!Robin Hawkins Robin Hawkins was born in 1949 in Norfolk. From an early age he tried his hand at poetry; but it wasn't until he was 16 and got his hands on a guitar that he started wanting to write songs. He was educated at Pangbourne College; but soon after leaving the college, Robin survived a serious car accident, after which he finally saw the error of his ways and became a follower of Jesus Christ. He went on to study Electrical Engineering, but it was through the prayer of a friend that he received the gift of songwriting.Soon after that prayer, Robin wrote the first of many songs and poems he has written over the years that followed. In 1976, Robin moved to East London where he met his future wife, Julie, a former classical singer. For the next seven years, they enjoyed a music ministry together throughout the UK and abroad. It was towards the end of that 7yrs that Robin felt called to Christian ministry, a vocation which he has followed for the last 36yrs.

  • - Volume II
    av William Hayley
    289,-

"Ballads to Animals" by William Hayley unveils a lyrical menagerie, where the poetic verses become an ode to the untamed and cherished creatures that share our world. Published in the 18th century, Hayley's ballads serve as a testament to the poet's affection for the animal kingdom and his ability to infuse verse with a sense of reverence and admiration for nature's creations. Within the pages of this collection, Hayley transforms his poetic canvas into a sanctuary where animals become the protagonists of enchanting tales. Each ballad is a lyrical portrait that captures the essence of a specific creature, whether it be the noble lion, the delicate butterfly, or the soaring bird. Through the rhythmic cadence of his verses, Hayley invites readers to embark on a journey through the diverse landscapes of the animal kingdom. Unlike conventional ballads that may focus on human narratives, "Ballads to Animals" redirects the spotlight onto the non-human inhabitants of our planet. Hayley's verses celebrate the beauty, diversity, and often overlooked stories of the animal world, fostering a connection between readers and the creatures that share our ecosystems.
