Tôi làm thơ rất sớm, và nhiều, từ năm mười sáu tuổi đến nay đã ngót sáu mươi năm, nhưng vẫn nghĩ thơ mình tầm thường nên không công bố, làm chỉ cho riêng mình như một hình thức ghi lại những biến cố đã trải nghiệm hoặc ngẫu hứng, cốt vui. Đa phần khi làm xong tôi vất đâu đó. Một lần về thăm quê, cậu em trao cho tôi xấp giấy vàng ố, nói thơ của anh em tìm thấy, nay giao lại cho anh. Tôi nhìn tập giấy, nhớ lại những thời điểm xưa, và đọc, và vẫn như bao giờ, thất vọng, đã định hủy. Nhưng lại nghĩ, dù sao nó cũng đánh dấu một thời, nên ném vào xó tủ, và quên. Gần đây vì sức khỏe trở nên tồi tệ, tôi không thể ngồi lâu để gõ cho xong hai tiểu thuyêt đang dang dở, buồn, tôi lục lại tập giấy và post lên fb, cốt cho có việc để làm, một cách giết thời giờ. Không ngờ lại được không ít bạn bè tán dương, kể cả những người làm thơ đã thành danh, tất cả đều khuyến khích tôi gom lại, xuất bản . Bốn mươi hai năm trước, ngày mới đến Mỹ, tôi làm việc cho một nhà in nhỏ, nhà in ế, ông chủ bảo, KT quen nhiều người cầm bút, chắc cũng viết lách, vậy có gì in không, mình lên máy, run, cho đỡ chướng, chứ để máy móc im hơi lặng tiếng thế này kỳ quá. In, cái gì nhỉ? Nhớ lại những bài thơ nho nhỏ đã làm, bèn đánh máy, layout, vẽ bìa và in. Đó là tập Đoản Thi Khánh Trường, tập thơ ra đời không định trước, chỉ giản dị, nhắc lại, vì cái nhà in nơi tôi đang làm việc nó...ế! Bốn mươi hai năm đã trôi qua, tôi hoàn toàn không nghĩ sẽ trình làng một tập thơ nào nữa, vì lý do như đã nói, tôi làm thơ không xuất sắt, thêm hoặc bớt tôi thì cũng chả lợi hoặc hại gì cho nền thi ca tiếng Việt.Nay bạn bè khích lệ, tôi thu tập và in. The main aim of this poetry is to express some of the feelings that were created by the deadly Liberian civil crisis that led many dead, homeless and mentally disturbed, socially, morally, and economically imbalanced. The result of these conditions set heavy grief and frustration in my heart as the author of this book. Most of the poems have emotional tones because of the mood and personal experiences of the writer. However, these poems are intended to bring consolation and joy in the minds of its readers in order to let out bad feelings. I am aware that negative feeling, which includes anger, contempt, guilt and fear, must be minimized, if not eradicated in our daily lives.

Brenda Jean was a Second World War baby, who would not see her father until she was nearly two years old. She grew up the older of three children and was a good example for her sister and brother.She was a gifted child and loved all things artistic and she strove to become a part of that world, in some way. Brenda did attempt artistic endeavors, however, her capricious father forbid any exuberance on her part, even when she was applauded for her efforts to show others her talents. In time Brenda withdrew any thought of showing off her talent and eventually held back any thought of asking for praise. Although, over time she found a solution through writing and most specifically poetry.Brendas poetry spans three decades and, for most was kept stowed away among her personal affects, only to be found by me, after she had passed away in April 2023.Brendas amazing talent in creating poetry will now receive the applause it deserves, since her ability and skill is now available for all to enjoy.

This book is a direct reflection of what Christ did for me five years ago. I'm ashamed to say for many years I claimed to be a Christian while my actions said just the opposite. I was even called out once. I was asked if I was a Christian and I responded yes. Someone that knew me was standing there. He laughed and said "sure you are". My heart attack six years ago had me thinking more about God but I was still holding on to the worldly things that we are told to refrain from. One day I'm watching television and I come across a pastor that grabbed my attention. In hind sight God got my attention that day. This sermon had a huge impact on me. I didn't really have a relationship with Christ. I hadn't truly surrendered my life to him. Since that day I've been a different person. That's when I finally found my love for Jesus. Out of nowhere I start writing these poems. It was as if God was using my hand to write down words he was putting in my heart. After much encouragement, I had my poems published. It is my desire to glorify my Lord through this work. I hope you enjoy these poems, more so I hope they inspire you in your walk with Jesus.
