    av Keith B Goldstein
    545,-

Keith Goldstein's photography series "Manhatta" is bold, beautiful and filled with the wonder of a boy mesmerized by the soaring architecture and light that makes Manhattan so unique. Goldstein was heavily influenced by the 1921 film "Manhatta" by Paula Strand and Charles Sheeler. It is considered the first avant garde film. Goldstein says "something just clicked when I saw the film "Manhatta" again and I started to think about my building images."Goldstein shoots images of buildings from up as high as he can, so his buildings are part of the sky. There are so many details and hidden delights that we cannot see from the street and Keith unveils those dramatically. The light is always different as it plays on older architectural wonders or is reflected in the glass of the contemporary high rise he has chosen. There is much more light to play with at these higher vantage points and he makes the most of that shooting late in the day of autumn, in the duller winter gray light or the in the full on summer sun. Goldstein says, "I think we all get excited seeing a place we are familiar with from a different perspective, in this case up high, certainly changes the experience and the perspective. Looking from a world above, the quality of light, shadow, and how the seasons change the atmosphere becomes so important to what you are a witness to."Keith Goldstein was born in Brooklyn and has been living in New York City since the 1970s. He is fascinated with the street life and the surrounding tableau of Manhattan's buildings. His images are heroic in nature and quietly revel in the magnificent details hidden above.

  • - Echoes of The Past
    av Karsten Hamre

My aim has never been to photograph the most known sites in the places I have been to, as I have always been more interested in walking around and photographing things I "stumble" upon, things that may be hidden to some as they are not seen instantly. This is also why I chose the title "Through Alien Eyes" as the moniker for this project as I have been the stranger in these places. I have been the explorer, and this is your chance to participate in the journey I have taken so far.The moniker "Through Alien Eyes" can for different projects and sub projects be altered to include the name of a specific town or country, as I aim to make parts of this project in multiple locations around the world, most notably outside Europe, and the results will include music, visuals, photo exhibitions and live performances. The journey started with the photo exhibition "Through the Valley of The Shadow". The next part came in the form of a CD+DVD "Through the Eyes of The Stranger", followed by "Through the Eyes of The Beholder".The next that happened was the creation of 10 volumes of photo books, each with 160 pages. These were both in 6x9" & 8.5x11". Each volume also has been converted into videos, and the music for those can be found on the digital release of "Through Alien Eyes - Volume I - X", a 10-track album where each track is approximately 26 minutes each. You can also expect there will be "magazines" released in the paperback format and 8.5x11" size, with 60 pages each. Each "magazine" will have photos either related to a city, country, or a specific subject.Lastly you have the "Through Alien Eyes - The Veil Between Worlds: Echoes of The Past", a 4-track album, with a total running time of approximately 72 minutes, which this book is created for.The photos in this edition were taken in places such as Athens (Greece), Brussels (Belgium), Bucharest (Romania), Oslo (Norway), Prague (Czechia), Skopje (North Macedonia), and Tirana (Albania). The photos in this book, "Through the Valley of The Shadows", were shot in two different locations, in two different countries, and using two different cameras. The photos taken at the Monumental Cemetery of Staglieno (Genoa, Italy) was shot with a Fuji Finepix E900, while the photos taken at the Ossuary in Sedlec (Kutna Hora, Czechia), also known as Kostnice Beinhaus, was shot with a Canon EOS 350D. Common for both series is the way they have been digitally treated afterwards. Basically, first they have been run through a contrast/brightness correction. Thereafter they were turned into black and white, and to add more effect to them I chose to use the Virtual Photographer plugin from optikVerveLabs.

The photos in this book were taken at Olsany Cemetery (Prague, Czechia), in Iasi (Romania), Recco (Italy), Belfast (Northern Ireland), Genoa (Italy), Terezin (Czechia), Oscarsborg Fortress (Norway), and Prague (Czechia). This is one of the prequels to "Through Alien Eyes".

"Through the Standard Lens: 50mm to 180mm Perspectives by Kypros" - JUST PHOTOS - NO TEXT Embark on a captivating visual journey with "Standard Lenses by Kypros," a collection that invites you to witness the world through the eyes of a seasoned photographer. Kypros, boasting over four decades of experience as a professional photojournalist, became a familiar name in the world's largest publications. With two decades spent traversing the United States extensively, covering every state, his monthly expenses often reached an impressive $17,000. The narrative begins in the heart of London's West-End, near the iconic Piccadilly Circus, where Kypros's photographic journey took flight at the age of 15. Armed with a remarkable telephoto lens, a Russian MTO brand 1000mm f11, his insatiable passion for capturing the extraordinary became evident early on. The book unfolds with amusing anecdotes, such as a seafaring escapade chasing sharks amidst seasoned fishermen, showcasing a young Kypros armed with a giant hook, tethered to the boat in pursuit of elusive sea creatures - a testament to the photographer's adventurous spirit. In the 1970s, Kypros evolved into what could be considered the world's youngest semi-professional photographer. Amidst the constant hum of a police radio, he developed films in the confines of a clothes cupboard, blending manual finesse with a touch of modernity using a daylight film developing tank. Enter the formidable 1000mm Russian MTO lens, a powerhouse with its share of challenges, including vignetting. Unfamiliar with the term, both lens and photographer persisted, gradually unraveling the compromises of mirror lenses and telescopes. Photography, for Kypros, transcended mere artistry; it became a means of escape from the intricacies of 1970s London. The boundless world beckoned exploration, urging Kypros to capture its essence through the potent gaze of standard lenses ranging from 50mm to about 180mm. This book unveils an untamed collection of photographs, offering unfiltered glimpses into the authentic lives of Hollywood celebrities. A tapestry of randomness is woven into cohesiveness, with the mastery of standard lenses serving as the common thread that provides a distinctive perspective on the world through Kypros's lens. Welcome to a world where each image tells a unique story, captured through the lens of experience and an unwavering passion for the extraordinary.

The Moods of Presque Isle is a book of photography, poetry, and prose which provides a visual treat for your mind and eyes. The poetry and photography blend to produce reflections and emotions within the reader. The setting is an eight mile long sand peninsula jutting out into Lake Erie. Formed over the last thousand years and constantly moving with Lake Erie currents, it is the most visited state park in the Pennsylvania system of parks. It is a haven for natural beauty, birds, animals and rare plants. Presque Isle seems to be one of the places on earth that God paused to create something special. A place where man could stop and reflect on what is right about the world. A place to pause for a moment to drink in the beauty that nature has to offer. It is an enchanting place where colors seem brighter, air softer and where time moves slowly. Presque Isle is one of those places calm enough for you to get quiet inside yourself. A place where solitude and reflection are greater gifts than sun and sand. The subjects of the poems and prose in the book are varied. They run from colors of fall to the tiny kingdom found on the forest floor; from water lilies to the horrors of 9/11; from an approaching storm to a lovers hand and hand walk on the beach. Season, colors, moods, and dreams fill the pages of this book of reflections and life experiences. As you read each poem, you will be able to slow down, take a minute to reflect on the complementary photographs accompanying the words. The theme of the book is the beauty, quiet, and solitude offered by nature. The author believes that if you love nature, nature will open up a whole new world for your enjoyment. The book is an attempt to paint words and photography as one and create a "Mood" with nature for the reader.
