Often after buying an expensive camera, people are unaware of the technical knowledge of the camera, so they mostly take photos on easy or auto shoot modes, then they do not get much good results, for amateur photography people, photography and media students Also the technical settings of the camera create problems! For photography lovers, I have tried to write the complex settings of the camera in simple words of Hindi language.In photojournalism, I have tried to bring the experiences gained from thirty and seventeen years of photography teaching in my first book "Roshni Ka Tilism Hai Photography"! Those associated with the photography business, media students, children, housewives and people who are unaware of photography can also increase their knowledge by using this book after reading it! It is hoped that this book will prove to be extremely useful for amateur photography lovers of any age

Voyages en Sardaigne is a collection of unconventional thematic guides on this island in the middle of the Mediterranean. To weave this portrait, photographs and texts take part in the production of an anthology capable of offering a multiplicity of possible represen- tations. Words and images form a linguistic whole in which the word and the gaze reveal the possible rela- tionships and directions to discover these places. Nelle miniere di Iglesias / Into the Mines of Iglesias is the first part of this exploration that focuses on soil, excavations, incisions, mutations, transpositions and silence of Sulcis-Iglesiente, a territory marked by an industrial history. A wandering through time and space of a region 'built', transformed, crossed by different types of works, infrastructures, relationships between things. These signs, these scars, are today the distinc- tive features of an extraordinary mining landscape. A space to discover through visual and textual narration.

Common Place is a visual meditation on Central Park. The project explores the results of intentions set forth by the park's chief architect, Frederick L. Olmsted, who wanted Central Park to be a democratic space that allows all New Yorkers to escape from the distractions of urban life in Manhattan. Olmsted believed that, by recreating the peacefulness of nature, parks would soothe and restore the human spirit. Never has Olmsted's vision been more relevant than during this global crisis, which has taken millions of lives while stay-at-home regulations swept across the globe. Whether using the expansive landscape as a place to relax, to escape or to love, this project translates these actions photographically. Common Place illustrates the importance of public parks and how during this moment, New Yorkers found what they needed within Central Park.

Sorika is pleased to announce the publication of Gareth McConnell's new book, To the Beat of the Drum. The book comprises photographs of youthful members of Northern Ireland's militaristic, Protestant marching bands, who McConnell carefully situates under the trippy magic of his super-chromatic, hedonistic lighting. These photographs and their mood-altering colours are compelling visual studies of youth and social identity - McConnell gives strong emphasis to how identity is subject to the variable relationships of the individual and the group. The book is accompanied by an essay by Sean O'Hagan (first published in The Observer's New Review, 2021). Much of the youth identity seen in McConnell's previous work relates to outsider or misfit groups, which McConnell has documented with high sensibility. These include rave and dance culture, using and recovering addicts, and the nature of the allegiances formed through musical identity. In an unexpected reframing of his interests, McConnell's attention in To the Beat of the Drum gives attention to young people's participation in the militaristic, culturally complex, power assertions of Northern Ireland's working class culture, in this case a Protestant one. During Northern Ireland's 'marching season' thousands of Protestant parades take place, whose controversial war drums and flutes announce Protestant loyalism's celebration of the military victory of King William of Orange over Catholic King James II in 1690. Catholics have their own strong versions of power assertion, and both Protestants and Catholics may each be seen as simultaneously an insider and an outsider group, within the context of historical group relativities on the island of Ireland. McConnell is from Northern Ireland, and his religion influenced background, in combination with his own outsider life experiences, qualify his contemplation of what insider and outsider status might mean. It seems that McConnell is observing the great paradox of the human experience as both individual and social. This has been addressed by many; Kierkegaard, William James, and syncretism, and includes some areas that might be called those of disorganised (as opposed to organised) religion. In this way McConnell honours ideas and thoughts about the nature of crowds and the individual, and offers hints of something more universal. This universal something seems to be beyond just a local imagination, and might even be blissful and transcendent. Neal Brown, 2022_____'This summer's marching season may be particularly tense, even volatile, owing to unionist anger at the "border in the Irish sea" created by the imposition of the post-Brexit Northern Irish customs protocol. In early April, just a week after McConnell shot these portraits, the worst rioting in years erupted in Carrickfergus and Larne as well as in other working-class loyalist areas in Belfast and Derry. The protagonists were mainly young teenagers, though many commentators suggested that the violence had been orchestrated by older members of loyalist paramilitary groups. The BBC noted that the areas affected were "among the most deprived in the country, with the lowest level of educational attainment in Europe". Against all this, Gareth McConnell's portraits of young working-class Protestant band members are all the more resonant. The young band members often exude a sense of awkward vulnerability. Bathed in soft light and colour, his subjects stare inquiringly into the lens or off into the distance as if distracted by wandering thoughts. Their engagement with the camera is tentative, uncertain, as if they're not quite sure why they have been singled out for its attention. What is also striking is just how young some of them are. You cannot help but wonder how much the band experience is another way of inculcating in them the divisive, often sectarian attitudes that are handed down through the generations. What does it mean to dream about tomorrow?This new title articulates how dreaming about tomorrow can be an act of bravery. The publication follows an exhibition of the same title, which took place at Nidi Gallery (Tokyo) in October 2022. The exhibition and publication feature recent paintings, some in oil, others using natural pigments, including some created from plants grown in the artist's allotment. Photographs from Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck's ongoing series Analog Diary and unique collaborative works with ceramic designer Olivia Fiddes (UK) and weaver Pauline Simonet (France), as well as The Gardening Drawing Club and the Seed Library set up at Nidi Gallery are also featured in this publication. The Covid Lockdown was a time of consideration, reflection and when I continued my journey of exploration and reflection. Deciding to explore, in my own way, the world of Retro Art Abstraction, OpArt, Geometry, Geometric Abstraction and arriving with my discovery of the mysterious world of Sacred Geometry.

Perhaps overshadowed by more 'exotic' locos, the Class 31s nonetheless played a significant part in British Railways' Modernisation Plan. Intended for use on more lightly loaded and shorter-distance trains on routes away from the main lines, the 263 original Brush Type 2 locomotives were new between 1957 and 1962 and entered service on the Eastern Region. They could soon be found all across the country. Not long into their careers, they were renumbered into Class 31 under the TOPS system and, over time, four subclasses were developed. The most numerous was the steam heat boiler-fitted 31/1, examples of which were further modified with electric train heating (ETH) to produce the 31/4. Towards the end of the class's collective lifespan came two more developments, the 31/5 and 31/6. The fact that so many still survive after decades of sterling service is testament to their usefulness and versatility, and they are especially appreciated on the various heritage lines up and down the country. This volume includes more than 200 images showing these workhorses in action, mostly in the south of England.
