Retratos Deportivos recopila a lo largo de 3 años los mejores retratos de varias deportistas colombianas que sueñan con colgarse una medalla o dejar huella en sus disciplinas, realizados para el medio Fémina Deportes. El autor explora desde una perspectiva íntima y humana la preparación de las deportistas para sus competencias, muchas de ellas durante el periodo de confinamiento por el Covid-19 entre 2020 y 2021. Adicional a ello, conocerás los escenarios deportivos y naturales del Eje Cafetero colombiano que fueron testigos de esta colección de imágenes únicas e inolvidables. Este álbum contiene 36 fotografías de Venezuela que es un país con muy alta diversidad de paisajes, ecosistemas y especies naturales. También posee una muy amplia diversidad cultural derivada de las oleadas migratorias de personas de todas partes del mundo que a través de la historia han llegado y asumido a este país como su patria de adopción. En la actualidad, Venezuela está inmersa en una profunda crisis social, política y económica producto del intento de instaurar un sistema comunista, pero sobre todo, porque el poder fue tomado por una banda de delincuentes de todo tipo, con fuertes apoyos de regímenes similares y terroristas de otras partes del mundo. Los delincuentes siempre se unen para incrementar y compartir los beneficios de sus actividades entre ellos mismos. Hoy hay más de cinco millones de venezolanos que están dispersos en el mundo debido a la diáspora provocada por el desastre en que está su país. A muchos de ellos les gustará tener un álbum de fotografías de Venezuela para compartirlo con sus nuevos amigos en el mundo y hasta para decorar las paredes de su hogar o de su sitio de trabajo con fotografías de Venezuela. Por eso, en DOCUMENTOS DIGITALES ORIGINALES(R) - DocDigOri(R) decidimos publicar este álbum fotográfico sobre Venezuela, el cual hemos dividido en tres tomos: I.- Paisajes, II.- Elementos de la Naturaleza y III.- Cultura. En el diseño se utilizó la impresión en páginas tamaño carta, impresas hasta el borde y sin añadir ningún texto, ni siquiera los números de página, para permitir que las fotografías puedan ser separadas del álbum para montarlas en cuadros individuales. Cada fotografía tiene impresa en el respaldo la información del título, autor, localidad y fecha. Si bien esta publicación tiene finalidad filantrópica porque el beneficio obtenido por sus ventas será un ingreso de apoyo para una familia venezolana que está tratando de sobrevivir en Venezuela; también tiene un objetivo patriótico porque perseguimos la difusión de las más importantes riquezas de este país que son las bellezas de su patrimonio natural y cultural. Venezuela, cuando logramos salir de esta crisis y superar sus nefastas consecuencias, volverá a ser un gran país.

"A river that forgets its source will dry off" is an African proverb that transcends territories, cultures and civilizations. It is used to describe what will likely become of a person that neglects his or her origin. The phrase, "dry off" in this case does not necessarily imply that the unbothered fellow will suffer death or incapacitation. Rather, it simply tells the tale of a favored dog that feeds on amongst the wolves while its own pack suffers exterminating hunger. The day such dog is reminded of its original dog status and when the not-one-of-us card is eventually played in the wolf community, the dog may no longer have a surviving pack to fall back to by that time. Indeed, a song rightly choruses, "No matter where you go...remember the road that will lead you home..." It is no brainer that this happens. Aristotle, the classical Greek philosopher submitted that Man is naturally gregarious.

The Morningstar gristmill was built in 1872 to process wheat, oats, barley and rye. It is located above the Decew Falls at 2710 Decew Road in St. Catharines. There are two main structures noticeable off the road: the red building which is the maintenance building and the beige stone gristmill itself.There's a little park for picnicking before you get to the gristmill. The property also has a turbine shed, the miller's house in the back, the ice-house, the sawmill and the barn. There's a blacksmith's shop in the barn. It should be noted that the gristmill and the miller's house are heritage sites. "Friends of Morningstar Mill" are volunteers that keep the grounds and the gristmill operating for tourists and school groups. These volunteers started reconstruction of the gristmill in the year 2000. Now the mill is the only water powered gristmill in the entire Niagara Peninsula.The mill is officially open May 1 until the Thanksgiving weekend. When you're walking really slowly you start to notice many things that you never saw before, because you were just racing past, maybe even looking at your smartphone. I realized that I saw faces and creatures everywhere. In scratches, waterpills, moss, bark, stones. This phenomenon is called Pareidolia. The creatures were hiding everywhere. I started to take pictures to show all these crazy creatures to my friends. But some of my friends had difficulties to see what I saw. So I tried to figure out how I could make it easier for them.That's how the project 'With different eyes' was born.Ever since then, I've been carrying a collection of Goggley-eyes whenever I went for a hike. When I found another creature, I placed the eyes at the right spots and then I took my pictures. It's amazing how much a pair of wiggley eyes to help focus where you look. And it's even more amazing where all of those creatures are hiding and how much easier it is to see them, when you place the eyes at the right spot. There is so much to see if you just open your eyes and look around.Try it out and see the world "with different eyes"!In this book, you'll follow me on my hikes and see some of the creatures I found.: )Some of them might make you giggle. For years Husum has been one of the most attractive cities in northern Germany for me in its cheerful sadness. Every time I drive to my island residence, I stop there, visit one of my best friends and take a little photograph. When taken literally, a translation of the word 'photograph' means 'written light'. In this book I offer the reader/viewer a collection of 'textual illumination' divided into categories. The accompanying short short-stories-in some cases no more than a few words-are literary counter weights to the visual text.Rather than pretend to be a technophile and focus on how each image came about (aperture setting, focal length, lens type, film, etc.)-which is a conventional means of augmenting photographic images-I borrow instead Roland Barthes' take on photographs, and treat what the camera captured as something that cannot be repeated. In other words, the how of the photograph is not as important to me as what is made visible with light.Continuing with Barthes, conceptually these 'things written with light' are all punctum rather than studium. They represent what caught my eye over the years. Sometimes I framed my subjects consciously, at other times I only realized later the significance of a particular frame.

After photographing over one thousand weddings in my career as a photographer, I've learned a few things. I've learned things that have helped me book seventy weddings per season consistently. I've learned things that have helped me travel to every continent, including Antarctica. I also managed to do it all while being incredibly introverted and shy. Throughout this book, I will share what I've done to go from a struggling server at an Outback Steakhouse in Canada to someone who has created a full-time business in wedding photography. I'll also share my secrets for creating a full-time business that doesn't take over your life. For me, I value time freedom the most. Of course, Saturdays are for weddings, but you can customize the rest of your week.To define time freedom, it is being in control of when and where you work. Want to spend a few days at the cottage? No problem, you don't have to ask anyone for time off. Saw a cheap last-minute vacation package to a Caribbean island? Go for it, and answer your emails from the pool. Running your own business makes your life incredibly customizable and fun. The financial side is also good. If you're averaging $3000 - $4000 per wedding and photographing sixty weddings, your business makes $210,000 annually. Not bad for a job that also comes with time freedom and flexibility. With all of this said, not everything has been perfect along the way.My hope with this book is that I can save you some of those struggles I went through. Whether you're year zero into business or already photographing busy seasons, there will be something in this book for you.

The War of 1812 in North America between British Upper Canada and the United States is considered a side-line event of the Napoleonic War in Europe. Yet, it was a war here on the border between Canada and the United States in its own right. Britain won the War of 1812 by successfully defending its colonies against the invasion of the United States. Otherwise, Canada would be part of th U.S. now as an extension of America's ambition to make all of North America, American. The U.S. threw itself into this war because Britain used force to "impress" or kidnap Americans who became unwilling sailors on British ships. The first American attacks were disjointed and failed. Detroit was surrendered to the British in August 1812.British Major General Robert Ross marched into Washington on August 24, 1814 and had his men set fire to various government and military buildings, including the White House, called the Presidential Mansion at that time. It was a retaliation for the American destruction of Port Dover in Upper Canada. The Burning of Washington is the only time a foreign power has captured and occupied the capital of the United States. President James Madison, military officials and his government fled the city to a small town in Montgomery County, Maryland, known now as "the United States Capital for a Day." He spent the night at the house of Caleb Bentley and his Quaker family. The house still exists, known as the Madison House.Luckily, a heavy thunderstorm put out the fires in Washington putting weight to the argument that God was on the American side. The occupation of Washington lasted about 26 hours. The Treaty of Ghent was signed by British and American delegates on December 24, 1814, ending the War of 1812.
